“Hey. I need you to listen to me here.”
Nate didn’t really pay any attention to her but looked up when she stood in front of the television. “I was watching that, but ok tell me what you have to say.”
“I’ve got a job to do and there is no way you are coming with me. I work alone. But you can’t stay here either. I’m not going to give you a key because, frankly, I don’t trust you enough to not give yourself or this place away. Understand?”
Nate nodded; he figured this would happen sooner or later, Sphinx didn’t seem like the type to keep company for a long period of time. He would probably end up going home or maybe to work his arm was feeling better now and he did need the cash. She walked away and started to pack what looked like the equipment she would need on the “job” she was about to do.
“I don’t know or really care too much about what you do, but you’ve got 2 hours to think of something.” She spoke while packing clothes and heading over to the kitchen cupboards. “I’m going out to get some things. You have 2 hours.”
“Well if you don’t mind I’ll wait here until you leave then I’ll go. I don’t have a lot of things to do but I might go to work today, since my arm is feeling much better.” He got up and walked over to here, “But if I’m not here by the time you get back, thanks for everything you did for me last night, I would probably be in jail right now or on the run from the cops.”

"Thanks for everything you did for me last night, I would probably be in jail right now or on the run from the cops.”
“That’s, erm…ok.”
She mumbled her response and looked away from Nate. This kind of sentiment was something she really wasn’t used to. There was a small tense pause before she broke the moment.
“Well, I better be off.”
She didn’t know what else to say or do. She moved her hand out to shake his, but lost her confidence half way and changed it to a small wave before she exited through the door, cursing herself for doing something so stupid.
She made her silent way through the block of flats and outside once more into the cold. By now she had learned to ignore people’s looks when they saw her with her sunglasses on. They weren’t important to her. She would off the main street soon anyway.
Over the next hour she visited some highly specialised stores with none to clean reputations, but all welcomed her with open arms. She bartered her way to the best prices and left a happy customer. She then made her way over to Joe’s for the second time this morning to settle her bill from the previous day. She also paid off her tab then went to Safe House to have a quick chat with Zack. She had the niggling feeling that she wasn’t going to see him for some time so she felt it best to just cover all her bases
The two hours were up so she made her way back to the tiny space she called home. She didn’t know if Nate would be there, but she hoped he would’ve moved on by now.

“That’s, erm…ok. Well, I better be off.”
From her response and her little wave Nate could tell she didn’t seem to handle these types of situation very well.
“Well, thanks again and uh bye I guess.”
She left and Nate took one last look around grabbing his jacket he walked out of the small apartment closing the door behind him, he had a feeling that wasn’t the last time he would see Sphinx.

She stood before her front door and inhaled deeply. Just from doing this she could tell that Nate had left shortly after she had. His scent was faint and quickly evaporating. She slid her key into the lock and opened her door a small amount. She inspected the floor like she always did, but found no new footprints or anything she could suspect as anyone being in her apartment.
She finally entered closing the door quietly behind her and being relieved that her senses hadn’t let her down. The apartment was gloriously empty and within half an hour she was ready to go on her lasted assignment. She had rewound the tapes in her answering machines and set her safety measures in place. If anyone entered this place while she away it was designed to destroy itself without damaging the building or Mrs. Tum-Rai next door. She took most of her possessions with her and they consisted mostly of equipment.
She took one last look around the place she had called home for 3 years and sighed. Before she closed the door she placed a small string around the inside handle. Once this was pulled tight the whole place would go.
She picked up the rest of her gear, closed the door and made her way downstairs slipping a note under the landlord’s door as she did about her absence. The note also had 6 months worth of rent in it, just in case.
Once she had left the building she stopped off at a back alley bank where she knew her money would be safe. She then made her way over to the train station, brought a ticket and made herself comfortable.

Chamber could feel the chill in the air as he stepped outside. He turned up the collar of his duster and tightened the scarf around his bandaged face. He waited for the Hellions to get organized and ready to walk, then gave a few more instructions.
< Okay, you lot, > he began. < Just a few more bits. Stick together. Since Sabastian and Sharon know this ruddy city best, you two can lead. It'll make us stand out less if we look like we bloody well know where we're going. > He looked at Rusty. < Don't worry about not knowing sign language. I'm a telepath remember? I'll just tell you what I'm saying. And if I am talking, remember you lot are the only ones who'll be able to hear me. So don't reply out loud, just think what you want to say. If we need it, I can set up a four way telepathic link between us, but it takes effort and I won't be able to do much bloody else. >
Realizing he sounded like some sort strange teacher organizing a bloody field trip (which for all intents and purposes he was), he stopped issuing instructions and looked at Sharon. < All right, kitten. Let's go see your park. >

(Yay! one step closer to mischeif!... does Rusty know about our plans?)
Sabastian zipped up his black jacket inside before following the others outside. He immediatly looked around for trouble lurking in any corners, but there was none here. The Hellions Club was either really well protected, or just not a good spot for making trouble. Course Sabastian suspected it was both. It didn't matter though, from now on, he was buisness.
Sabastian listened quietly to everything Jono said. It was pretty much obvious stuff, but good to say anyway especially if your the 'leader'. It just seemed the 'right' thing to do and Sabastian really didn't care. From this point on Jono would be the leader and he would certainly do what he was told. When Jono was finished he thought back to him < If you don't mind, I'd rather stick to the back of the group. I don't know where Sharons park is seeing as she hasn't told us the name, and knowing Sharon it might be somewhere dark dank and mysterious. Someone should stay at the back of the group and I know what I'm doing in this city >
He knew that he probably didn't have to 'think' his reply yet, but practice makes perfect and if he got into the habit now, he'd be less likely to slip up later.

Following Jono out of the restaurant, Rusty shivered a little in the cold. Tightening his jacket, he blew air out of his mouth, flapping his lips.
< Okay, you lot, > he began. < Just a few more bits. Stick together. Since Sabastian and Sharon know this ruddy city best, you two can lead. It'll make us stand out less if we look like we bloody well know where we're going. >
Rusty nodded absently, not really paying attention. He felt so excited, just ready to go, to get out into the city.
Rusty looked up, hearing his name and nodded when Jono mentioned sign language again. He'd been a bit worried about that. All the telepathic link stuff was still a bit complicated, even after this time with Ms. Frost but he already trusted Jono to do something like that.
< All right, kitten. Let's go see your park. >
Excellent! Moving! Rusty was about ready to take off before he realised that he had no idea where to go. Stopping with a sigh, he turned around, looking at the others. "Umm...which way do we go?" He asked sheepishly.

She looked around, glad to be out of the building. The air wasn't exactly fresh, but it was home. As they discussed where they wanted to go, she just listened. They were going to be communicating telepathically, which honestly was her favorite way of talking. She was able to use complete sentences in her mind, it was just somewhere along the way to her mouth that they got jumbled. Telepathy was always a good thing to have around. < It's... > She looked around, trying to get her bearings. Everything was up higher now, she was farther from the ground. After a moment, she looked toward the nearest subway station. < We should take the subway to... 103rd street. That puts us right on the edge of the park. Then we'll have to walk a little bit. > Leading the way, she headed down into the station.

Since Sharon was the only one who knew where they were going and Sabastian insisted on playing read guard, Jono decided to stick close to Rusty. The bloke didn't seem used to big cities, and even though Jono wasn't from New York, his hometown was London. If the yanks though this city was hard to find places in, they ought to try his city. At least most of the city streets were straight lines.
Then headed down to the subway, Sharon still leading. Chamber was surprised at how articulate she was when she replied in his mind. Of course, that made some sense. Language barriers didn't really exist when someone could read your mind.
He stood on the platform, watching the people around them. New Yorkers were a strange lot. Each one of them seemed to be purposely trying to ignore the world around him or her. The almost all wore headphones and tried to keep as far away from each other as possible. They rarely made eye contact with each other and never spoke unless they needed to. Maybe this little outing would go better than he thought it would. They were likely to be completely ignored.
He followed Sharon onto the subway train and moved to a seat. He hoped Rusty would figure out to keep moving and stick close, because if he started gawking, they could get separated in a heartbeat. As he watched his charges, he didn't notice the two rough looking fellows eyeing him and the Hellions.

Sabastian stayed a little behind the group, eyes constandly roving the crowds but managing to look as if he weren't looking for anything. It was a technique that one could learn that had become very helpful. He didn't notice the headphoned singles as Jono did, he looked for the figures who weren't dressed so nice, or the ones who 'accidently' bumped into people. This was a classic move to steal a wallet or money. There weren't many of them, but if he could spot them before they tried for his wallet he'd be happy.
He stood next to Jono grabbing hold of one of the hand rails above his head. He had learned that he didn't really like sitting on the subway, to many opportunities to be jerked into someone. He'd rather stand and keep his balance. He stood in silence watching all the people around them and his eyes connected with one of the two men staring at them. That was strange. They didn't look much different from the other's, well besides the fact that they 'did' look like tourists. The fact that they travled in a group and weren't insitent on their own little world painted a big neon sign on their foreheads.
Sabastian glared at the man until he looked away, but it didn't matter. Sabastian knew that the man would continue his stare when Sabastian wasn't looking. He didn't say anything though, chances might be that they, the two men, would leave them alone when the hellions got off the subway.

As soon as they got onto the train, she found a place near the window to stand. She'd only ridden the subway a few times, but as soon as she'd discovered that she could read, she had memorized the maps. Being on the subway itself was a special treat, and she was going to enjoy it. The signs on the walls zoomed past as they traveled through the tunnel and past stations. She was completely oblivious, not even noticing the two men that were eyeing the group. As the street numbers got coser and closer to their destination, she turned to Jono. "Two stops."
Turning back to look out the window, she smiled. It was good to be home.

Jono stuck with Rusty as they moved through the city, heading for the subway like Sharon suggested. The New York subway itself was kind of exciting, it was practically legendary for its weird people. Passing through the station was almost a disappointment though, it was a lot like every other trainstation Rusty had ever been through. Most definitely not the thrilling ride of crazies he'd been hoping for.
Everyone on the subway was...strange. So isolated, not even looking at anyone else. It was...bizarre. Sabastian was staring around, more hostile than Rusty had ever seen him before. Glaring at everyone who even looked at them which, admittedly, was a little strange on a train full of people who resisted looking at each other like they'd catch something but still.
Sharon just sat on the train, staring out the window, watching the scenery, such as it was, flash past. A few moments later, she turned to Jono and announced "Two stops." As the trains stopped at the first station, Rusty watched to see how everyone would manage to get on and off without looking at each other. It was quite funny, because whenever they glanced in the wrong direction by accident, they turned their heads around really fast, whipping them away from anywhere they might actually catch sight of someone else. There were a whole bunch of people who didn't get off though, some of whom didn't seem to dislike admitting there were other people on the planet.
They were lookin' at them funny. But it was probably just because they'd noticed Rusty watching everyone else.
Rusty turned back to look out the window, as the train left the station, a bit embarrassed. He didn't want to actually offend anyone and it almost felt like he was in a different country. It was just so different to where he was from here.

Jono was glad second stop had finally come. Sabastian was acting paranoid, which was making him jumpy. Rusty was gawking at everyone and everything like a bloody tourist. Granted, that was what he was, but it was mildly irritating. Sharon, on the other hand, looked as happy as could be. But then, they were heading for the area she used to run in. So it was to be expected.
Somehow they managed to get off the subway car without getting badly separated. Jono's eyes widened as he realized what Catseye had meant by 'park'. Central Park. The place was bleedin' huge. Granted, you couldn't get more outdoors in the city, but this close to Christmas, the place would be absolutely packed with people taking a break from their shopping or ice skating or just hanging about.
Jono let out a mental sigh and looked at Sharon. < This is your park, kitten? > he asked with a mix of disbelief and worry. He rubbed his temples and shook. < All right then, let's go have a look about then. > He once again moved closer to Rusty as started towards the enormous park.
As cautious as he was being, he still didn't notice that the people who had been watching the Hellions on the subway get off at the same stop. They could just be going to park as well and even if Jono had noticed them, he wouldn't know what they were thinking. He knew better than to let his telepathy wander in this city. Too many lunatics with thoughts he really didn't need.

Sabastian was extremly releived to get off the subway. He had not felt comfortable with those two men, and glad that they had a chance to get away from them. Until of course he realized where they were. It only took a few seconds after they had climbed out of the subway. He stopped for a moment, "Central Park?" He stared at Sharon, " Your park is Central Park? I never heard any stories..." He trailed off not wanting anyone to hear them talk about Sharons ability. She would at least get the drift. Sabastian shook his head and then followed Sharon into the park.
It was crowded! Way too many people, but then Sabastian wasn't to worried about that. At least they'd fit in with the other tourists. This made him relax a little bit though he was still worried about Sharon. Still she understood the situation and would probably be fine. " So Rusty, you do know about Central Park right? It's one of the tourists attractions of New York City. The largest park I know of, and the best looking one too. You could get lost in it if you don't know your way around."
Sabastian spoke as he let his eyes rove around again, since they were here, Rusty could at least know some things about where they were. Sabastian's eyes rested on the two men he'd seen on the subway and he frowned. he might have been inclined to say they were going to the park to sight see, but the fact that they were looking directly at the Hellions made Sabastian very nervous.
< Hey Jono... I got a bad feeling about something, I think were being followed>

She smiled as she wove through the crowd. Turning back to Jono, she pointed ahead of them, to a path slightly smaller than the rest. < My part of the park is over there. It's not as crowded. >
Leading the way, she climbed through the chaos and led them through a patch of trees. When they came out on the other side, they were pretty much alone, save for a few people sitting on the benches quietly. Of course, in the middle of winter, people are a lot less likely to sit around and hang out at the park, so they didn't have to worry too much. New York winters were a lot colder than most people would suspect. Running over to a large rock, she climbed on top of it and looked around her park. It was a the same, but different. Looking back over at the group, she grinned. "My park."
She raised an eyebrow as she noticed two big men coming up behind the boys. They didn't look happy. In fact, they looked downright angry. But why would they be angry with the boys? They didn't do anything.
