Alex held onto Terry's hand as they walked along the sidewalk towards their destination. It was the same area that he passed before taking off after Priest. Alex pushed it out of his mind and continued to stroll with Terry along the path, hoping he wouldn't get lost. It was dark out and he wondered if they would get a place in the park now that it was almost time for them to begin lighting the tree.
Alex still thought about how innocent Terry was. It was amazing she even agreed to come out walking with him. Not like Alex was going to do anything to her, his conscience would never let him do anything to harm her. Terry just seemed too nice of a person to let anything wrong happen to her and he didn't want to kill her good mood.
"Are you sure you're okay in this cold?" Alex asked her, placing his hand on her back. He kept her close for a reason. The heat he radiated would easily heat her up. Unfortunately, his body was immune to it. He had his jacket, though, and it was helping against the bitter cold. "I wouldn't want you to freeze." He asked with a concerned smile.

As they exited the elevator to the lobby, Theresa let go of Alex's hand to put her cloak on. Fastening the closure at her neck, she reached out with her hand and picked his up again. This time she didn't bother with the hood. She wanted to see everything.
Night had fallen since her and Tom were out walking earlier and all the lights that decorated the buildings and stores and street lamps and everywhere was completely amazing. She watched the sights, her head twisting to take everything in and when Alex put his hand on her back, she moved in closer to him. It really was warmer next to him and although she wasn't terribly cold, it was still a nice, comforting warmth.
As they drew near the park, she could see it was crowded with people and they would have to stand a ways back. Luckily, it was a huge tree and Theresa figured they could see from just about anywhere in the park. Seeing a small hill where no one was standing, yet, she looked up at Alex and said, "How about over there?"
As they walked, she continued to say, "Christmas here is so different. It's not quite as.... noisy in Ireland. Then again, there was usually just Tom, my current teacher and I so we really never did too much. I don't think he cared too much for the holiday but since he is the one who raised me, he felt he had ta indulge me a bit." It never once occurred to her that she shouldn't talk so openly with Alex but he was easy to talk to and he seemed to listen.

Alex was glad he was there to keep her warm.It felt nice to have close to him but he wondered how long it would last. There was nothing wrong with having someone to be with while he was visiting the the city but at the same time he didn't want to hurt the woman at all. She has been wonderful company.
Looking up at the tree he wondered how well it would look with all the lights shut off in a dark park with only the christmas tree to illuminate the surroundings. Terry pointed at a small hill that looked like a perfect isolated position to see the tree sparkle. Alex kept his hand on her back as they manuevered their way to stand on the small hilltiop. He kept himself behind her, still holding her left hand in his left hand. Terry standing directly in front of him. The park was busy but he was sure that recent events have kept people in their homes and hidden away from any kind of mutant hysteria or propaganda.
"That sounds like a lonely Christmas," Alex said hoping to not to upset her. Looking at her from his height, he could see her red hair covering her face from the angle he saw her. With his right hand he brushed his hand to gently remove the hair behind her ear to reveal her face that he has adored since seeing her at the a table alone in the Hotel Bar. "I would think that your beauty would be showered with gifts," Alex revealed his teeth with a genuine grin. The beauty she possesed was unmatched by any he has seen. "Or at least that's how it should be."
The spotlights on the tree blacked out as Alex finished complimenting Terry. The gasps from the large crowd gathered in the now pitched black park signlaed that the lighting of the tree was about to begin. In the still darkness, Alex placed his right hand on tery's waist and held her close to him. He couldn't see her but he still wanted to know that she was there with him, close to him. There was no where he would rather be, than standing here with Terry to watch the Christmas tree in all it's beautiful glory. Alex looked up at where the tree once stood in his vision, but was not nothing but blackness as he patiently waited for the tree to sparkle.

"That sounds like a lonely Christmas. I would think that your beauty would be showered with gifts. Or at least that's how it should be," Alex said as they stopped on the hill and he tucked a lock of her unruly hair behind her ear.
She looked up at him in surprise. He thought she was beautiful? Tom had always told her she was beautiful but that was because she looked just like her mother and he seemed to have cared a great deal about Maeve. Her face glowing after his compliment, she replied, "Oh, they weren't lonely at all. Tom was always able to be home and he really was so much fun, when we weren't fighting. And he brought me presents all the time so every time he came home was like a holiday. Besides, he's the only family I have left. My mum died when I was a newborn and my dad abandoned me so Tom took me in. He's been my father all my life."
Suddenly, the lights all around them went out and Theresa turned her attention to where the tree had been. Alex pulled her close against him and she was amazed at how warm he was. Even the hand that had touched her face had been warm. She dropped her right hand to cover his and leaned in to him, hoping she wasn't too heavy.
Just as suddenly as the lights went down, the entire tree exploded to life, thousands of tiny white lights erupting everywhere at once. Even the star at the very top glowed in a mass of white. Staring in awe at such a fantastic sight, she looked the tree up and down, her eyes wide in wonder and whispered, "It is so beautiful."

Alex was extremely surprised that she was revealing her childhood to him. Terry's cousin Tom was now redeamed in his eyes. The revelation of her childhood seemed like it was a troubled at first but she spoke openly about it to him. Her life seemed to have gotten better but that memory would always be there. Alex was glad that Terry was comfortable enough around him to open up.
Alex didn't know what to say so instead, he held onto her hand but moved his right hand closer to her stomach. Pulling her even closer, he wrapped his left hand to meet his right hand on her stomach. He was holding her in a gentle hug, keeping her warm in the process. The scent of hair was intoxicating as his face was barely covered with her hair. Alex didn't mind though. The few strands of hair that whipped him in his face only reminded him of the beauty he was holding in his arms.
As the lights went out, only to be replaced by the magnificent sight of the tree lit up with thousands of lights. The park was illuminated in the beauty that the tree radiated. It was bright at first but his eyes quickly adjusted, thankfully. He was blessed today for seeing two beauties, Terry and now the Christmas Tree.
"I'm sorry about your mother but I'm glad you had someone to take care of you while you were young," Alex said loud enough for her to hear over the cheers from the crowd. He finally found the words and he hoped they weren't taken badly. "But I am glad that you made it here to the states," Alex continued. "Otherwise I wouldn't have met you and I wouldn't be standing here holding a gorgeous woman and looking at a beautiful Christmas tree."
A few people from the crowd started to disperse but a lot still remained with their families or significant other. The tree was lit up every night so many have seen plenty times before. For Alex, this was his first and he couldn't have shared it with anyone else worthy. The day had been a strange one but it was worth it to get to this point at night.

When Alex wrapped both arms around her, Theresa's stomach did an unexpected flip and she found herself wanting to be even closer to him. It was a very unfamiliar feeling and a bit scary at first. However, the fear dissipated as quickly as it came and she sighed contently, just enjoying the feel of his hands on her and the warmth of his body.
Smiling when he gave her condolences for her mother, she replied, "It's sort of hard ta mourn someone ya don't remember. Tha only regret I have is that with her death, it meant her, Tom and I could never be a proper family. Lord knows where my father is but I get the feeling from what Tom told me, he was never around anyway so his abandonment wasn't surprising."
Theresa couldn't help laughing at the crowd as they cheered the lighting of the tree. Their enthusiasm was contagious and her smile grew brighter as she watched the people. Children were hugging their parents in joy and couples were celebrating in their own fashion. It was so different for her and she just took everything in, not wanting to ruin the magical moment for anything.
"But I am glad that you made it here to the states. Otherwise I wouldn't have met you and I wouldn't be standing here holding a gorgeous woman and looking at a beautiful Christmas tree," he said in her ear.
She looked up at him, her eyes glowing in the white light of the tree and her utter fascination in what was happening around her. Her reasons for being here was probably not very honorable from what she could tell, but she had promised to stand by Tom and she would keep her promise. Alex didn't need to know that though. And she found herself hoping that whatever happened tomorrow, he wouldn't find out her part in it.
Looking at him, she said in a half whisper, "I'm glad I'm here too. Thank you, Alex."

Alex understood Terry's explaination of her mother. She didn't know her and never really met her. Her father's absense was inexcusable. Dead beat fathers shouldn't be allowed to walk freely among respectable men. It gives them a bad name. Alex's parents, on the other hand, were killed when he was young. He still remembers them though. Very slightly does he remember but he does. That memory has been pushed so far back in his mind that he rarely ever brings it out. He never really like to to remember that.
Alex took his mind off of the memory by watching the families cheer and play. There were plenty of families still around looking in awe at the Christmas tree. Families, with their kids playing happily, and couples holding each other. Everyone was feeling the Christmas spirit as they held their loved ones. That's when Alex realised that that's what Terry and himself must look like. He stood on the hill with Terry wrapped securely in his arms as she looked up at him and whispered her gratitude for this eveneing. It was sweet and her face glowed from the lights shimmering off her face. Her blue eyes looked directly up at his.
"There's no one I would rather be here with," Alex whispered back. Taking his right hand to brush away a strand of hair that covered her cheek, he leaned towards her but never took his eyes off of hers. Not until he was close enough, he shut his eyes and felt his lips brush up against hers, softly at first then he pressed it more into a gentle kiss.

"There's no one I would rather be here with," Alex replied softly. Then he moved a lock of hair that had blown in her face and Theresa watched his face with wide eyes. When his face came closer to her, she instinctively closed her eyes and his lips met hers.
She almost forgot how to breathe. He was so soft, so gentle and she felt her entire body spring to life by the kiss. Reaching up with her hand, she grasped his and held it tightly. She wanted to wrap her arms around his neck but his other hand was still holding hers around her waist so she would make do with what she had.
As the kiss broke off, Theresa opened her eyes and looked at his, simply whispering, "Wow." It was the only thing she could think of. No matter what happened tomorrow, she didn't want this moment to end. Twisting around, she wrapped her arms around his back and hugged him. She wasn't sure why she did that but it just felt natural and at that very moment, everything she did was pure instinct.

As their first kiss started to break off, Alex hungered for more. He was completely lost in it and had forgot where they were and how cold it was outside. The warmth of her lips had kept him warm for their brief contact. He had forgotten all of his abilities, all his control problems, and all of his family issues. All that mattered was being in the arms of Terry.
Terry had maneuvered herself to face him after whispering something that made Alex smile. She wrapped her arms around him and hugged him. It was a warm hug, just like their kiss. He was hoping it would never end and it really didn't have to. They had all night. Pulling away slightly to look her in the eyes again, Alex thought about how lost he could get in her stare.
"How about we get going? I saw a restaurant a block away," Alex asked. As much as he would love to stay in this spot with Terry in his arms, he had to think of his energy consumption. If he doesn't release some energy he would start fearing for Terry's life and he didn't want to put her in any danger.

After a brief moment, Alex pulled her back slightly and stared into her eyes. She wondered if he was just going to stay like that when he finally said, "How about we get going? I saw a restaurant a block away."
She was a bit disappointed that he wanted to leave already but she nodded her consent and they took off in the direction he was indicating. A bit unsure what to do at this point, Theresa gave a slight sigh and wondered if Tom had noticed she was gone yet.
Stop thinking about him, Theresa, she scolded herself. Yuir an adult and he has already told ya to go and do whatever ya want. I doubt he has even given ya one thought this whole night. Looking up at Alex, she gave him a smile and realized how lucky she had been. Anyone could have tried to pick her up in that bar but it sweet, wonderful Alex who had done it. At least he hadn't tried to get rid of her yet. Theresa felt she must have been doing something right. Besides, she wanted to kiss him again.

Alex really want to leave but his energy level was getting high and he needed to release some. He didn't want to tell her he was a mutant. With all of the antimutant hysteria, he didn't want Terry to be afraid of him. That would be the last thing he would want. Her company was a breath of fresh air and he wouldn't want to ruin it with the simple fact that he was a mutant.
Taking her hand in his, he led her back towards the main road and towards the restaurant. He noticed an alleyway in the back of the restaurant that he could use briefly but he would still have to get away from Terry for a few minutes. That was something he didn't want to do but he had to. It was too important not to take care of. Hopefully, Terry would understand any excuse that he can come up with.
"So what do you do on your free time?" Alex asked her as they walked along the sidewalk. "Skiing? Shopping? Picking up men at bars?" Alex asked playfully. He released her hand to put his arm around her and place his hand firmly on her waist. Keeping her close was in his best interest. The smell of her hair and the warmth of her near him was something he didn't want to give up so soon. Plus he was interested in knowing who she was and why she was so sweet. Her beauty was well taken care of and so was her body. At this moment, he couldn't find anything wrong with her. Terry was perfect.

As they walked toward the restaurant, Alex asked her, "So what do you do on your free time? Skiing? Shopping? Picking up men at bars?"
He put his hand on her waist and once again pulled her close. Theresa's doubts flew away when he did that and she relaxed even more. Laughing at the question, she replied, "That was tha first time I've ever been in a bar so I would say that isn't a hobby of mine. Mostly I spent my time at the Keep. Tom was gone for tha last two years and due ta some 'rumors', my housekeeper didn't stay once he left. I mainly read a lot, spend as much time outside as I can and swim when tha water isn't iced over." She didn't add that the housekeeper left because she had discovered Theresa's mutant secret and that she had been shunned from the village for the same reason. Or that most of her time outside was using her power to fly around. As she said it, Theresa realized just how lonely the last two years of her life had been.
They came to the door of the restaurant and entered, the warmth of the heat inside hitting her immediately. As they were led to a table, Theresa removed her cloak but kept the blue sweater on. Sitting down, she ordered an ice water to drink when the hostess asked what they wanted.

He left her alone for two years? Alex thought to himself. The once satisfactory image he had of this person was quickly diminishing into a severe lack of respect for the person. Alex was having a hard time tearing himself away for a few minutes, how could someone leave her for two years? The thoughts running in his mind were pushed back. He didn't want to seem like an overprotective father, or a family member at all. It was going to be hard to tell her goodnight when they were ready to go back to their rooms for the night. How can someone leave her for two years to tend to herself? The thought was purely aggravating.
"I'll have a heineken," Alex told the hostess as he took off his own jacket. He pushed past the frustration with her cousin but that wasn't his place. When the hostess left them alone, he knew the frustrations in him was going to boil over his control and he needed to stop that.
Alex rose again from his seat. He paused to look at her beautiful face again. They smile that erupted from his mouth was uncontrollable but he needed to get out of there and take care of something. It was absolutely necessary. He leaned down towards her and gave her another soft gentle kiss. Her lips were too soft to tear himself away from but he had to, unfortunately.
"I'll be back in a minute," Alex said as he started to pull away from her. He wished he could tell her but he was afraid of ending the night like that. But she should know the truth. It would only be right. After he notified her of his departure, Alex flashed her another quick smile and headed for the front door. Once outside, Alex turned sharply down the dark alleyway. Looking behind him to make sure no one was passing by, Alex pointed his hand out to a brick wall that deadended the alley. Alex focused his frustrations and fired a large plasma wave directly at the wall. The plasma wave lit up the dark alley and it was almost blinding as hit struck the brick wall, causing it to melt and crumble. Behind the wall, revealed nothing but bushes so Alex stopped the plasma wave. He was satisfied with the amount of energy he just used up. That would set him until the next day.

Theresa was completely clueless as to how her words affected Alex. To her, being left alone at the age of sixteen wasn't a big deal and she had coped with it. Yes, the loneliness had been hard but she had managed and felt she was a strong woman because of it.
When he stood up as soon as the waitress left, she grew confused. But then Alex leaned in and kissed her again and her confusion was replaced with something else entirely. Like before, the kiss was so gentle and warm and by the time he broke it off, her head was spinning. He looked reluctant to leave but said, "I'll be back in a minute." Then he was gone, out the door.
Theresa had no idea where he had gone but while he was gone, the waitress came over and asked if she wanted to order an appetizer. Food was pretty much the last thing on her mind but Theresa looked over the menu quickly and settled on an order of brushetta. The waitress glanced at Alex's empty chair and Theresa quickly said, "Oh, he'll be back." Giving Theresa a look of "Oh, that's too bad", the waitress scurried away.
Watching the woman leave, Theresa laughed. Apparently, she wasn't the only one who had seen Alex's attractiveness. But he was returning to her, Theresa Rourke. Not able to contain her joy, Theresa sat there and grinned, sipping her water and waiting for Alex.

Alex was satified with his energy level now. He wasn't going to go beserk and lose control of his powers. Allowing that would be a great tragedy for everyone. Including Terry, and Alex just wouldn't be able to handle that on his conscience. The woman was a treasure that he found and he wouldn't be letting her go that soon or at all. It was something else he really didn't want to think about.
Making his way back into the restaurant, Alex had easily spotted the spotlight of his whole day, Terry, sitting there alone like when he first met her. She was radiant then and even more beautiful now. How did I get this lucky? Alex thought to himself as he walked back to their table. She was smiling over something but he didn't know what. The thought of her being happy only made him happy. Alex reached the table but didn't go straight to his chair. Instead he leaned over again to touch her lips again with his. This time, he held the kiss much longer and placed his right hand on her back for some support for himself. Everytime they kissed he lost his senses and was completely concentrating on her lips and tongue and how they felt. His sense of location was also completely gone. He just couldn't stay away from Terry and how she made him feel. It was an addiction that Alex was giving into very willingly and easily.
"Did I miss anything?" Alex asked her as he pulled away. Terry's smile was still firmly in his mind, a vision that he will always remember. The warmth of her lips had sent tingles through his own. It was a feeling that he never wanted to let go of.
