She stepped out into the hallway, slightly amused by the exchanges going on. Of course, the presence of the insufferable Exodus wiped away most of her smile. Frowning, she looked at the redhead. "In case you were unaware, this is a hotel. The rooms are all equipped with beds so that people can sleep. The entire floor would appreciate it if you didn't shout."
The girl certainly had a mouth on her for someone that small. Then again, if she was related to Tom, it wasn't much of a surprise. Turning to Exodus, she frowned. "And you... unless your 'master' tells you to dig around in someone's mind, be a good little doggy and don't." She was pushing it. Exodus was quite powerful. But that didn't mean that he wasn't also a pain in the ass.

Erik headed down the hallway, noting that Exodus, Mystique, and Miss Cassidy and her cousin were all standing out in the hall, making a scene. Theresa had obviously been shouting at Exodus, who was, quite honestly, none too particular who he used his powers on and never asked permission to enter anyone's mind but Magneto's. Black Tom appeared to be completely drunk, which also displeased Magnus excessively.
"In case you were unaware, this is a hotel. The rooms are all equipped with beds so that people can sleep. The entire floor would appreciate it if you didn't shout." At least Raven was trying to dispel the situation. Then she turned on Exodus. "And you... unless your 'master' tells you to dig around in someone's mind, be a good little doggy and don't."
Magneto frowned. Exodus wasn't going to take kindly to Mystique's comment. All this interfighting defeated the purpose of their mission. He would end this now. "What are you all doing?" he demanded. "This conversation had better be being shielded from outside ears and prying minds." He sent a pointed look at Bennett. He then turned his attention to Black Tom. "You will go sober up. You are useless to me in this condition."
Crossing his arms over his chest, his steely gaze settling on Theresa. "May I ask what the problem is, Miss Cassidy?" he was trying to be gentle, as she was barely more than a child, but he was sorely tempted to simply have Exodus wipe any trace of knowledge of the Brotherhood, and their purpose for being here from the girl's mind and be done with her. But for now, he'd give her a chance to explain herself.

The shouting from the hallway proved that Mystique's and Black Tom's passing would not remain uneventful. Still clad in his denim bathrobe, Victor confidently strode out, only to lean against the doorway with a smug, self-contented smile. He watched the unfolding events, and was rewarded with the appearance of Tom's girlfriend. "To the rescue", he laughed to himself, managing to surpress the chortle - fool he was and fool the man would be, but it appeared Black Tom understood where he was now and would not be his burden to suffer, so there was no longer need to test him.
He turned as Exodus appeared. "Go ahead, run through my mind", he thought - LOUDLY - and he barely concealing a grin. "Enjoy the nightmares."
As Magneto appeared he cleared his thoughts, and continued to scan up and down the hallway for disruptions.

Prfessor X via Telepathy
< Erik, we have moved the meeting to my penthouse. Bring one of your disciples that could go to the hearing in your place, > Charles informed his friend. < There is no way you will be allowed in the area of the hearing without drawing attention to yourself, > Professor X explained. Erik knew he was a wanted man. The government, no doubt, had extra security just in case the master of magnetism decided to show up.

Theresa's mutation sounded interesting. Sonic powers. And the fact she was unfazed by Jean's confession of being a telepath was nice. Unfortunately, it was probably her naivete that allowed her not to be concerned that his wife wouldn't pry without permission. But it was good she didn't offer any protest to his suggestion that she let Jean monitor her mind while she spoke to her uncle.
He watched as Theresa turned to Alex, pressing her fingers to both sides of his face. “Don't push Scott away. Ya both need each other and he's family. Be there for him like ya want ta be there for me.” Scott was surprised at her words, his eyes immediately going to Jean. He hadn't expected her to defend him. When she stepped away from his brother after a brief kiss, he offered her a small smile of thanks. Alex may not want to listen to him, but he seemed infatuated enough with Theresa that he might actually listen to her.
Theresa offered a nervous smile and a wave, then headed out of the room. “Wish me luck.”
A few moments later, Jean confirmed she was linked with Theresa's mind and gave them her location. Then they departed. Alex didn't say anything the whole time, and he didn't seem too thrilled. Of course, if the woman he loved was walking into such a potentially dangerous situation as woefully unprepared for it as Theresa was, he wouldn't be too happy either. Not that Jean hadn't ever been in a dangerous situation. Too many of them. But it was their job, they were X-Men.
On the elevator, Scott closed his eyes tightly, pulling his visor from his pocket and removing his sunglasses. He carefully put on the visor, not opening his eyes until it was securely in place. He had done it so many times, he could do it in his sleep. And probably had.
As the elevator opened to the floor Theresa was on, Cyclops glanced over at Jean, a business-like tone to his voice. "How's she doing?"

Theresa wasn’t as happy to see Tom as he was to see her.“Why're ya drinking already this morning, Uncle Tom?” Why did she think he was drunk? Because he’s Irish, no she’s Irish too. Maybe he was drunk. “Aye was drinkin lass night. Morning juss snucked up on me.” Before she could reply, he heard something that caused him to sober up, at least a little. “That does not stop you from being spied upon. Another telepath is at work here. The energy is quite delicious. Who is with you Theresa?” The smile on his face that came from seeing Theresa turned to a scowl.
Exodus had no right to be intruding on a family matter. He was no doubt still harping on Theresa’s leaving. She was going to leave. She didn’t need to be around these people, whether he was or not. Before he could stop her, she was striding up to Exodus and telling him off. In his current state, Tom couldn’t help but smile even though he should have been all business.
His smile only grew as Mystique made herself known by insulting Exodus. He could easily see himself getting close to her in more ways than one. Despite her interruption, Tom needed to back up Theresa. With the small crowd gathering, it was fairly obvious(even in his drunk mind) that they weren’t going to talk privately in his room for a while now.
Finally, ‘Daddy’ arrived to fix this problem. Great! Tom really didn’t like these people. The money he makes after leaving might have to quadruple instead of tripling, just to account for his pain and suffering. ”You will go sober up. You are useless to me in this condition." Yes Daddy! He needed only to get Theresa then he could go sober up. She wanted to talk to him for some reason, and he wasn’t going to turn her away in what could be the last time she ever wanted to speak to him. Tom kept quiet but leaned against the wall and waited for Theresa.

“I've been meaning ta talk ta ya, Exodus. I want ta know what makes ya think ya had tha right ta go spying on me last night and run ta Tom like a little gossip monger? What I do on my own time is none of yuir business. Stay out of my head from now on, got it?” Theresa yelled at him. Exodus watched her as she had her hands on her hip. The woman really thought she was threatening. It was admirable in a way but also very irritating. It was the least of his problems at the moment though. They were still being spied on. Before Exodus could tell the woman exactly what is and isn’t her business, Mystique came back into the hallway.
"In case you were unaware, this is a hotel. The rooms are all equipped with beds so that people can sleep. The entire floor would appreciate it if you didn't shout," Mystique told them all. Mostly Theresa, though. She was the only one screaming for absolutely no reason. "And you... unless your 'master' tells you to dig around in someone's mind, be a good little doggy and don't," Mystique said turning her attention to Exodus.
“My abilities are for me to use at my own leisure. I will do what I wish and my wishes are to extract the telepathic link Theresa shares with someone not of the Brotherhood,” Exodus said to both women. They were both starting to get on his nerves. Mystique’s irritating comments were almost enough for him to disregard her as a superior. She was not a good boss to have and Exodus was slowly starting to despise her. Sabretooth’s appearance was useless. He was not a threat nor a help. Searching through his mind, even though it was invited, was a waste of time.
"What are you all doing?" Lord Magneto said to the group. They were all out in the open and everybody could hear them. “This conversation had better be being shielded from outside ears and prying minds," He continued to say towards Exodus.
“It would be if there wasn’t another telepath’s work here,” Exodus said referring to Theresa. “The telepath is spying on us through Theresa. I can feel the psionic energy. I ask permission to extract the telepath by extreme measures,” Exodus replied to his lord and master.
"May I ask what the problem is, Miss Cassidy?" Lord Magneto asked her. The answer should be interesting. There was no doubt that Theresa would treat Magneto with more respect than she treated him. That could all change with a single thought from Exodus. It would be that easy to replace Alex with himself in her memories. The thought brought a slow smile to his face but he wasn’t going to act on that thought. Not yet. For now, his mental shields needed to be strengthened in case the woman telepath would try anything.

Exodus didn't seem very amused by her little tirade but Theresa didn't care. She was too angry at him. She could have sworn she heard Tom snicker while she was lecturing Exodus and in his drunken state, that was very possible. Why she had ever thought she could help this man when he himself was drunk the other night was beyond her. He'd had nothing but disdain for her ever since based on his actions.
Before Exodus could once again proclaim there was a telepath in her head (damn, why couldn't she feel Jean? She could get her out and keep them safe), the door that the blue woman went into opened up and she emerged again. Looking from Theresa to Exodus and back to Theresa, she said, "In case you were unaware, this is a hotel. The rooms are all equipped with beds so that people can sleep. The entire floor would appreciate it if you didn't shout."
Theresa was so very tempted to snap a remark back about just how loudly she could shout but the woman turned her attention back to Exodus and said with poorly concealed disapproval, "And you... unless your 'master' tells you to dig around in someone's mind, be a good little doggy and don't."
She had to hold back a grin and that was so very hard to do. Theresa literally bit her lip as she looked at Mystique with a bit of humor in her eyes. She was actually glad she wasn't the only one not kissing Exodus' shoes. Yes, he was powerful and could probably kill her on the spot but it would be fast and painless and worth it to make the man show some emotion other then cold and calculating.
Once again, a door opened and this time, Theresa's eyes went from humor to fear. She knew exactly who was coming now and after what she had been told about him, she didn't know what to think. If they didn't have an audience, she would have been happy to ask him all her questions but she had a feeling that the others around her would only laugh at her nativity. Somewhere deep inside, she was starting to resent the fact that Tom had kept her secreted away all her life.
Magneto addressed Exodus and Tom first by saying, "What are you all doing? This conversation had better be being shielded from outside ears and prying minds. You will go sober up. You are useless to me in this condition."
Exodus just had to speak up and reply with, “It would be if there wasn’t another telepath’s work here. The telepath is spying on us through Theresa. I can feel the psionic energy. I ask permission to extract the telepath by extreme measures,”
Her eyes grew wide in fear at the words “extract” and “extreme measures”. Surely Magneto wasn't going to let him hurt her, was he? Could Scott and Jean have been right? Not wanting to really stick around and find out, especially since she couldn't talk to the man privately, Theresa ignored Exodus and turned her full attention to Magneto. “I apologize for tha interruption. I simply wanted ta speak ta my cousin alone and we were just about ta go ta his room when Exodus appeared. I'm afraid I did lose my temper as he had invaded my privacy last night. I found it completely inappropriate but I did not mean ta disturb anyone this morning. If you will excuse me, I'll get Tom taken care of and we will be out of yuir way.”
Giving him a weak smile, Theresa turned to walk back to Tom who was leaning against the wall next to his door. She looked at him expectantly with a bit of irritation as she waited for him to unlock his door so they could enter. Inside, she was practically screaming for Jean to stop the mind link before her, Scott or Alex could get caught up in this mess.

Jean stood between Scott and Alex on the elevator. It just seemed like an appropriate place to stand. As they went down Jean concentrated on her link with Theresa, feeling others present as they drew near to the Irish lass’s mental signature. Seeing what Theresa was seeing, Jean had the advantage of witnessing what was happening around her. Theresa’s cousin was talking with her, and a bit inebriated. Immediately someone with strange markings on his face and an odd costume bombarded Theresa with questions. Jean could feel the energy pouring off him and she felt his brush inside Theresa’s mind, locating Jean’s connection with her.
’No!’ Jean frowned, scowling a bit in the process. This being was going to be nothing but trouble. She saw what happened through Theresa and even cheered a little when she got in this guy’s face. He deserved it. Jean did learn a little useful information though. Sabretooth was there, as well as Mystique. When Magneto joined them she knew it was time to bail out. She could feel Theresa’s mental yells, asking her to release the link, which she did right before sending her a comforting wave of reassurance. They would be there for her, even if she felt as if they weren’t.
“How’s she doing?” Scott was in his leader-mode, and Jean might have paused a moment to admire it, but there was too much going on. She glanced up at her husband and frowned slightly. She just released her presence from Theresa’s mind, but knew her mental signature and kept tabs on the room she was trying to enter.
“It seems she ran into some company on the way to search for her cousin. Magneto is there, as well as Sabertooth and Mystique.” The arrival of the person with the strong psionics didn’t sit well with Jean. “And someone who is a very skilled telepath. He picked up on my presence so I had to break the link with Theresa. But I’m still keeping track of wherever she’s going.” Jean had to tell them. She knew Alex would be worried but hopefully her ability to keep a mental tab on Theresa would help him worry less.
< This new minion Magneto has working for him—he has no reservations about entering someone’s mind. > Jean was worried about Exodus. He seemed very interested in Jean’s being connected with Theresa and this ‘extracting’ her made her uneasy, as well as angry. She glanced at Scott, not wanting to tell him about what Magneto’s lackey had said, but knew she would have to eventually or possibly end up worse off if he didn’t know.

Magneto watched Sabretooth emerge from his room, watching the scene in the hallway with amusement. At least someone was amused. Erik wasn't. Tom mumbled something drunkenly to his cousin and stopped by his room.
He was waiting for someone to answer his questions when he heard a voice in his mind. < Erik, we have moved the meeting to my penthouse. Bring one of your disciples that could go to the hearing in your place, > It was Charles. < There is no way you will be allowed in the area of the hearing without drawing attention to yourself, >
“It would be if there wasn’t another telepath’s work here,"Exodus replied to him. The telepath is spying on us through Theresa. I can feel the psionic energy. I ask permission to extract the telepath by extreme measures.”
Theresa was acting strangely. She suddenly seemed terrified of Magnus. Perhaps she'd been watching the news and heard of his 'crimes'. Or the telepath in her mind had been telling stories. "I apologize for tha interruption.
Magneto shook his head. "No, the telepaths in the building are currently our allies, Bennett," he replied. "But to err on the side of caution, find the telepath. If it is not one of Charles' X-Men or Ms. Frost, then deal with them as needed." He looked to Sabretooth. "Victor, you will assist him. I presume between the two of you, you can deal with any threat." He wanted to keep both Exodus and Sabretooth busy until the planning was finished. Neither man was very skilled at entertaining themselves in constructive ways, obviously.
He turned his attention to Theresa. He was hoping she would have the sense to give up the name of the telepath keeping tabs on her, but obviously, she would not. That problem having been shuffled off on those equipped to deal with it, he decided she would probably be the best person to deal with her cousin. She was not leaving his organization right now, no matter what she believed and if she was spying on them, her memory of them could be erased and she could be dealt with. Later, after she had served her purpose on this mission. "Miss Cassidy, take you cousin to his room and sober him up," he said calmly. "As for the invasion of your privacy, you will have to take the matter up with Exodus. Later. At this time, I have a meeting to attend."
Finally, he turned to Mystique. "Raven, Charles is ready to start our discussion," he told her. "Shall we?" He inclined his head towards the elevator

Alex followed his brother and his wife into the elevator, not saying a word. He was worried about Theresa. There was no telling what could happen when she had to deal with Tom. He might have been family to her but so far, he really didn’t treat her as family. Alex watched as Scott replaced his glasses with his visor. He had his eyes shut the whole time. It looked like second nature to him. Even though the visor he wore looked goofy, it was necessary like Alex’s containment suit. It was a damn shame the two of them had to live like this. Looking over to Scott, Alex could also see Jean who was standing in between them. Her facial expressions shifted a few times. None of them looking like she was happy. It was strange to watch so Alex had to turn away so he didn’t start to stare. Jean suddenly looked very odd to him. There had to be a reason for it but Alex had no idea what it could be.
"How's she doing?" Scott asked his wife. Alex was eager to hear the response as well. Theresa’s safety was important to him and if anything bad happened to her, he was going to personally kill Tom.
“It seems she ran into some company on the way to search for her cousin. Magneto is there, as well as Sabertooth and Mystique. And someone who is a very skilled telepath. He picked up on my presence so I had to break the link with Theresa. But I’m still keeping track of wherever she’s going,” Jean replied to her husband. Alex didn’t recognize any of those names but the name Sabretooth was threatening. He tried to have trust in their judgment though. If they were in no rush then Theresa must be alright. The adrenaline was starting to build inside of him and he was getting antsy. He wanted to go see her.
“Who are those people? Are they dangerous?” Alex asked his family. He was still worried that Theresa was in danger. Now it wasn’t just Tom that could pose a threat to her, now it was these people he’s never heard of.

Raising an eyebrow as the situation escalated, she shot Sabretooth an amused look. She was beyond needing sleep now. It took little more than a thought to flush the last of the alcohol and sleepiness from her system. Standing up straight, she nodded at Magneto. "Give me a minute to grab my briefcase."
After ducking into her room and securing her laptop and files, as well as hiding a small gun inside her leg, she reappeared. She inclined her head toward Ear's room, morphing back into Leni (albeit a version of Leni that was wearing something slightly more business appropriate) as she did. "Someone keep an eye on the kid? Don't let him run away." Shooting a pointed look at Sabretooth, she added. "And don't eat him."

Ear stormed out of his room in a rage. "Don't you even think about setting one of these dopes to watch me." He looked around not sure which one was Mystique but not caring at this point. "I won't be left out." Ear was furious because he didn't know which was Mystique, but wait, there the laptop, that was hers. "You can't leave me behind to sit on my @$$ all day, not after what you told me." Ear glared at her.
He had lost his cool. This was it, he was nineteen and this blue freak had the gall to set one of these other dumb bell freaks on him to watch him. Ear was aware he had lost control, and had no idea what to do to get it back. Here he was in front of to many people blaringly showing them one of his few weaknesses. This ticked Ear even more.

Scott glanced over to his wife as her frustration and a touch of fear escaped across their link. He tensed, but knew if something was really wrong, Jean would have already been intervening. He trusted her judgement unconditionally. It was just the entity that had given her some of her powers that he had problems with. But now was not the time to worry about that.
“It seems she ran into some company on the way to search for her cousin. Magneto is there, as well as Sabretooth and Mystique," Jean told them. Something else was troubling her, he could feel it through their link. "And someone who is a very skilled telepath. He picked up on my presence so I had to break the link with Theresa. But I’m still keeping track of wherever she’s going.”
< This new minion Magneto has working for him—he has no reservations about entering someone’s mind, > Jean added, only to Scott. Great, as if the Brotherhood wasn't dangerous enough, now they had a telepath will less morals than the rest of them working with them.
“Who are those people? Are they dangerous?” Alex demanded, concerned and upset.
"Mystique is a shapeshifter," Scott explained evenly, his expression remaining calm. "Sabretooth is an animal who walks on two legs." He looked over at his brother, understanding why he was worried, but knowing getting angry and rushing in wasn't the best way to deal with it. "And yes, they are dangerous. Which is exactly why we can't go charging in there. We could make a tense situation worse. Sit tight until we have a reason to believe she's in danger."
He turned his attention back to his wife. < Jean, try to contact Charles, > he said. < We need to know what's going on with these alliances. Being out of the loop is getting dangerous. If you can't get ahold of him. > He took a deep breath. < Try Magneto or the White Queen.>

Tom sat back and watched this group of half-wits bicker like a dysfunctional family. Oh how he hated them all, except Theresa of course. The longer he was in company of this group, the more he realized why she needed to leave. She was so beautifully innocent, and this group would only tarnish that.
Her fear showed when Magneto addressed her. Apparently, Alex’s friends had been telling her about him. Tom had actually heard that Magneto was a nice guy once you push past all the mutant stuff. She quickly apologized to him then came to Tom again. Her expression was a mix of irritation and eagerness to get away from the group. Tom happily complied and opened his door to her.
