Rogue shrugged as she answered Carol's question about her friends, "Haven't talked to them since Ah left...It's possible that they're all dead. Right after the start of the war...The guy who was in charge, Charlie Xavier... he died. Was a friend of Magneto's, too. Man's got a memorial for him in the palace gardens and everything. Real nice fellow." Anna said playing with her bottle, "Got eyewitness reports, they say that the others got shot, too. Hurt real bad. No word on what happened after that, though."
"So that is who Charles Xavier is...I have seen the memorial in Lord Magnus' Garden, it is there with the memorials to his two wives and his daughter Anya." Carol of course knew that , since Mystique was one of Lord Magnus' most trusted generals, Rogue would have seen the memorials as well.
Soon their food arrived just as Carol finished her second drink, she asked for another then told Anna, "It is really great to have the time to go out with you. Even though I have been working for SHIELD for a while, I do not have many people I could do this with. I am enjoying myself a lot."
She bit into her chicken fingers, the crunch was good and they had a fair amount of spices on them that added to the taste. So she had to give Anna Marie that one she did know where to get good food.

"So that is who Charles Xavier is...I have seen the memorial in Lord Magnus' Garden, it is there with the memorials to his two wives and his daughter Anya." She nodded. She'd only gone to that part of the gardens a few times. It was just too sad, knowing that someone like that died. She'd never seen the man anything other than kind. Sure, he could be firm, but given the way that she'd acted at that age, she was surprised that he hadn't outright smacked her.
"It is really great to have the time to go out with you. Even though I have been working for SHIELD for a while, I do not have many people I could do this with. I am enjoying myself a lot." Coming back to reality, she nodded. "Yeah. Me too." God, this wasn't the part where they hugged and made friendship bracelets, was it? Because that would require a few more beers. At least. She nodded as the food was brought to them, thanking the delivery boy, whose name she couldn't for the life of her remember. As she seperated a slice of pizza from the rest of the pie, she frowned at Carol's meal. "Looks like they forgot the toy."

"Yeah. Me too." Rogue said, but Carol noticed that it was only half heartedly. It was ok she was not expecting people to hug and sing ‘We are the World’.
Rogue took off a slice of her pizza as she said, "Looks like they forgot the toy."
Carol laughed, “Yea, it’s too bad, I always love the little toy surprise.” then she shoved the rest of her chicken tender in her mouth.
“So ok, I have to ask...” Carol said nervously, “Are you seeing anyone, and if not do you find anyone from SHIELD attractive?”
It was a classic question. Something that should always be asked when girls went out together, followed by the HUNT! Ok Carol did not want to go on the hunt right now, but it had been a while since she had a date. Something she disliked quite a lot. Still it was hard finding guys. Many of them usually acted shy toward her because of her job status, so all that was left was other SHIELD operatives...which could at times be a real drawback. She wondered if Rogue had run into that same problem.

“So ok, I have to ask...” Carol said nervously, “Are you seeing anyone, and if not do you find anyone from SHIELD attractive?”She almost choked on her pizza. Laughing, she fully expected for the conversation to drift toward a game of "Truth or dare." Any second.
Swallowing the bite of pizza, she shook her head. "Ah ain't got time to see anyone. This is about the most seeing Ah do. And since pretty much the only straight guy in the guard is my brother, Ah try not to think about that too much. Some of the infantry is cute though." She leaned in a little bit closer to Carol, adding quietly, "And a lot of them would do anything for a chance at making Red Guard." And that was a lesson she'd learned from her mother. Well, not exactly in the same context. Raven had meant it more as a "free labor" kind of deal. But Rogue's way was undoubtedly more fun.
She raised her bottle to her lips again, finishing off the rest of the bottle and setting it down on the bar. "How about you?"

Rogue had laughed, a good strong laugh when she heard Carol’s question. She almost seemed to choke on her pizza, "Ah ain't got time to see anyone. This is about the most seeing Ah do. And since pretty much the only straight guy in the guard is my brother, Ah try not to think about that too much. Some of the infantry is cute though."
Then she leaned really close and said quietly, "And a lot of them would do anything for a chance at making Red Guard." Carol had to laugh, Anna had a lot more spunk and sass that she had expected. But that is something that she should always remember, that she should meet people and get to know them before making opinions or judgements.
”How about you?” asked Rogue as she finished the rest of her beer and put the empty bottle on the bar.
Carol sipped the last of her drink and said, “Ah see that is one tough question.” she paused to signal at the bartender that she wanted another, then continue, “Most guys do not like when a girl can beat them to a pulp if it came down to it. You know what I am saying. Even the guys with super strength get all weird when they see me. I mean I would just like to go on a date, not tell them how I am better because of I am part of the Guard.”
“But I guess we get what we are dealt.” Carol said with a sigh

I mean I would just like to go on a date, not tell them how I am better because of I am part of the Guard.” She shrugged, nodding as Clyde held up another beer questioningly. Turning back to Carol, she shrugged. "So... don't."
Thanking Clyde as he brought their new drinks, she continued. "When Ah first started coming down here, no one knew Ah was Red Guard." She looked up, blowing some of her hair out of her face and nodding. "Ah even wore a hat. Thought they'd recognize me. Wasn't until Ah took out my wallet to pay one night and someone spotted my badge, they knew who Ah was." Looking over at Clyde, she frowned jokingly, raising her voice enough for him to hear. "And this old man hasn't let me pay for a meal since, the bastard."
Clyde bowed grandly, moving toward the other end of the bar to take care of someone else. Sipping her beer, she added, "And Ah sure as hell don't start a conversation off with 'Hey, you know Ah can suck the life out of you through my skin.' That's the worst pickup line ever. It makes it quite a bit harder to get people interested in gettin' close. You don't need to tell them everything."

“So...dont” Rogue said shrugging.
“Well Anna, I don’t actually say it. Come on what type of girl did you think I was.” Carol said with a grin.
Blowing hair out her face Anna told her, "When Ah first started coming down here, no one knew Ah was Red Guard. Ah even wore a hat.
Carol looked at Clyde an then back to Rogue, “Free food does not fall under the deadly threat category for me.”
Taking her new bear Rogue stated, "And Ah sure as hell don't start a conversation off with 'Hey, you know Ah can suck the life out of you through my skin.' That's the worst pickup line ever. It makes it quite a bit harder to get people interested in gettin' close. You don't need to tell them everything."
“Believe me, I don’t. But is not like the Red Guard is really secret. They just seem to know.” She said eating another chicken tender.

She shrugged again, picking up another slice of pizza. "So lie."
She bit into it, chewing quickly so that she could finish her statement. "Someone says 'Hey, ain't you that flying strong lady who never gets hurt from the Red Guard?' Just say no. Ah've done it, and hell, Ah look more like me than you do like you."
She took another bite of her pizza, frowning. "Ah mean, There's lots of women with hair like yours, who are tall like you... Me, well, Ah gotta wear a hat if Ah don't want to be recognized. Either that or say it's a halloween costume. And that only works in October."
She sat down what was left of her slice and took another drink from the new bottle. "You might also consider not wearing this in public. It's a dead giveaway." She nodded knowingly, pointing at Carol's outfit. Suddenly, she had an idea. Swiveling on the stool, she yelled to the rest of the room, "How many of you would sleep with her?" Pointing to Carol, she smiled as the hands went up. Turning back to her friend, she continued to grin. "See?"

((crossposted from Mystique's office))
Rogue's comm. device blinked, arriving the iminent arrival of a message. "Agent Darkholme, you are to attend a dinner at the palace tonight. Report to my office in full uniform at 1930."

"So lie." Rogue said.
Ok that was so simple that Carol felt like she was dumb.
Rogue bit into her pizza slice, chewing quickly so that she could finish her statement. "Someone says 'Hey, ain't you that flying strong lady who never gets hurt from the Red Guard?' Just say no. Ah've done it, and hell, Ah look more like me than you do like you."
There it was again, an idea so simple it was ridiculous Rogue continued on, "Ah mean, There's lots of women with hair like yours, who are tall like you... Me, well, Ah gotta wear a hat if Ah don't want to be recognized. Either that or say it's a Halloween costume. And that only works in October."
“Ok, ok you are right. I should start lying.” Carol said.
"You might also consider not wearing this in public. It's a dead giveaway." Anna said pointing at her uniform as she took a swig of her beer.
“Well then neither should you...but you aren’t the one having problems in this department, from the sound of your earlier comment about the infantry.” Carol teased.
Suddenly Rogue got a real devious look on her face, "How many of you would sleep with her?" she yelled at the room. Hands rose up and Carol’s face turned crimson, See?
But before Carol could say anything, Rogue’s communications link went off, "Agent Darkholme, you are to attend a dinner at the palace tonight. Report to my office in full uniform at 1930."
“Ooo, if it isn’t just like very important Anna-Marie Darkholme, having dinner with Lord Magnus and his family at the palace!” Carol said joking, “Do you need to leave then?”

She grinned at Carol, glad that she was able to bring a little embarassment to the situation. About then, her comm. device flashed and her mother's voice came through loud and clear. A few conversations nearby stopped as people heard the message. Her face started to turn red as Carol commented, "“Ooo, if it isn’t just like very important Anna-Marie Darkholme, having dinner with Lord Magnus and his family at the palace! Do you need to leave then?”
Trying to ignore Carol, she picked up the small device and replied, "Roger that." She rolled her eyes and turned to Clyde, frowning. "Could Ah get the rest of this to go?" He nodded and went to get a box, and she turned back to Carol, checking her watch. "Ah've still got time, but eatin' much more might not be a good idea."
It wasn't like she didn't enjoy spending time with the royal family. In fact, when she was younger, she'd been utterly fascinated with them. They'd even been pretty good friends. Until Lorna had borrowed one of her dolls and never given it back. That bitch. As it turned out, though, Rogue had simply misplaced the doll. She'd found it behind her bed. But there was no way she was going to tell Lorna that. Not when she could hold it over her head. Of course, now if she even mentioned it, Lorna's bodyguard would have her laid out for daring to tarnish Lady Lorna's good name. Or something.
It was time to get off the topic of the Lensherrs. And Rogue had a pretty good idea where to shift the conversation. "So back to your sexual frustration..."

Rogue’s face seem to turn red as well with Carol’s teasing, "Roger that." Anna rolled her eyes and turned to Clyde, frowning. "Could Ah get the rest of this to go?" and she turned back to Carol, checking her watch. "Ah've still got time, but eatin' much more might not be a good idea."
”So back to your sexual frustration..." Rogue said with what could only be called a cruel and evil grin.
“I...” Carol was really speechless, “...I wouldn’t call...maybe it’s...ok, ok so maybe I am a bit frustrated. It has been a couple of months, two actually. It was never that hard before. Maybe I should start dating the infantry like you do.” she said with a wink.
Carol tried to change the subject, “So what are you going to wear to the palace, you know for the House of M, you should always look you damn best.”
This would hopefully get Anna Marie’s mind of the fact that Carol had not gotten any in a while. I mean she was even starting to find Nightcrawler hot and he has a ponytail.

She shrugged. "Ah wouldn't exactly call it dating..." She trailed off, letting Carol assume what she wanted. The truth of the matter was, though, that after spending more than half of her life not being able to touch anyone, she simply needed the contact. She didn't know if her control was going to just give out on her again at any time, and she intended to make the best of it while she could.
“So what are you going to wear to the palace, you know for the House of M, you should always look you damn best.” She shrugged. She'd never really cared much about what she wore while she was at the palace, and she had a feeling that Magneto felt the same way. It was hard to look at him, to look at any of the royal family really, and see someone other than the people they'd been before. As much as she tried, she just couldn't bring herself to see them as the royal family. They were still just Uncle Erik, Pietro, Wanda, and Lorna the doll stealer.
"Ah'll probably just wear my uniform... If that's wrong, Ah'll borrow something from Wa...Lady Wanda. God knows she's got enough clothes to go around." She smiled as Clyde brought the box back, and pulled out a few bills to pay, glaring at him as he informed her that she didn't need to. Shoving the money back into her pocket, she muttered under her breath, turning back to Carol. "Maybe Ah'll go naked. The press would have a good time with that."

"Ah'll probably just wear my uniform... If that's wrong, Ah'll borrow something from Wa...Lady Wanda. God knows she's got enough clothes to go around." Shoving the money back into her pocket, she muttered under her breath, turning back to Carol. "Maybe Ah'll go naked. The press would have a good time with that."
Carol laughed, she realized that she had laughed a lot today. Rogue probably thought that she was a bit weird, “You know I have always wondered about nudist colonies. I mean I like to be naked in my quarters, it just feels comfortable, natural. Except that the colonies always seem to be full of less than fit people, you know.” she ended the last part with a not so pleased look.
Reaching into her pocket she pulled out some money, sure Clyde had said no to Rogue but what he did not know would not hurt him. With a wink she strode across the room, carefully watching that Clyde was not watching and put the money all in his tip jar. Then she went back to meet her friend, “Ready to motor? Oh by the way we so are flying again.”

“You know I have always wondered about nudist colonies. I mean I like to be naked in my quarters, it just feels comfortable, natural. Except that the colonies always seem to be full of less than fit people, you know.” There was no way that Rogue could have possibly stopped the laughter. Still, she covered her mouth in an attempt to keep the others in the bar from staring at them any more than they already were. It didn't work. "First of all, thanks for reminding me to knock before going into your room. Second, was there really a need to bring up the naked fat people?"
Shew watched with a smile as Carol snuck the money into the tip jar. Good work, but rather subtle. Her preferred method was leaving the money right out on the bar. More often than not, though, Clyde had his little delivery boy sneak it back into her pocket by the time she got back to base. “Ready to motor? Oh by the way we so are flying again.” She sighed. "Fine. Lets get out of here."
