Logan listened intently to what Rogue was saying, he didnt like to see her cry; but he knew it was good for her to get it off her chest.
"All I know is you guys have been on and off many times, I dont see this as being any different."
He took a deep puff of his slightly chewed cigar.Logan had never really liked or disliked Gambit, but it was times like this that he wish he could shake Remy around a bit just so he would pay attention to how close he was to losing Rogue.
"Its wierd you know? It seems like you two are an impossible combination, but you always manage to work it out no matter what. If it helps, maybe we can figure out 'where he been gone to' " Logan said in his best Gambit impersonation, which clearly needed some work. "Besides" he said standing up from his chair. "Maybe a little bit of a danger room workout will get your mind off of it for a while. " Logan smiled a bit showing his teeth, it was his desperate attempt to make her smile.
"Come on Rogie, cheer up. I need have a serious talk with that no good thief..."

"All I know is you guys have been on and off many times, I dont see this as being any different."
He was right. They did tend to fight a lot...
"Its wierd you know? It seems like you two are an impossible combination, but you always manage to work it out no matter what. If it helps, maybe we can figure out 'where he been gone to' "
She laughed at his imitation. "Needs a little work, Sugar."
"Besides, maybe a little bit of a danger room workout will get your mind off of it for a while. "
She looked up at him and came close to a smile. "Aw, Ah'd love to but Ah gotta go out tonight."
She looked down at her hands. She had been completely unaware that she was wringing her gloves the whole time, and she stopped, glad that she had pulled a pair that were made of the same material as their uniforms. Otherwise, they would have torn.
She wiped her eyes. If there was one thing she hated, it was crying. She was invulnerable, physically, and she didn't like to broadcast the fact that that invulnerability didn't stretch over her mental self as well. Logan was probably right. A good Danger room session would really hit the spot. Nothing like beating the crap out of defenseless holograms to get your mind off of something. But she had already made plans.

{OOC: The last thing that wolvie said was suppose to be thinking to himself, didnt know how to represent it. I'm assuming I do the same as you do with psychic talk <>?}
Logan held his toothy grin the best he could, when he heard Rogue laugh at his impersonation. She seemed better in his eyes, though a few tears where now flowing down her face.
"Aw, Ah'd love to but Ah gotta go out tonight."
"Suit yourself gorgeous, I'll save a spot for you if you change your mind."
Logan took another long puff on his cigar, then patted Rogue on the shoulder giving her a reassuring look. Seeing that she was seeming to be a bit better, he decided this might be the best time to cut out. Logan really didnt want to get involved in all the mushy stuff, plus he never knew who might walk in a get the wrong idea.
<Now that would be su'mthing...> Logan quickly dismissed the thought, not allowing himself to entertain it any further.
Logan thought for a second as he was turning around to leave , then spun back around slowly facing Rogue.
"It just dawned on me that you said "going out" , but I dont see Gambit anywhere. Whose this special person, that gets to bask in your presence?" Logan said only slightly sarcastic.

Someone was flipping the channels again in the rec room. An angry voice momentarily rang out in the air. Kes stopped dead. She knew that voice. She hadn’t heard it for 5 years, but with her hearing, it was instantly recognisable.
She rushed into the next room. Rouge and Logan were there and for some reason Rouge was crying, but that wasn’t her main concern right now.
“Go back 3 channels.”<br> Logan did as she asked. To Kes the screen was just a square of white, it was one of the reasons she didn’t watch TV, but from the sounds she guessed it was a news report at a demonstration. Kes imagined a line of cops trying to push back a crowd of shouting people, many of who were carrying placards with various rhyming slogans on. A reporter with a large microphone would be up close to the barricade trying desperately to get an interview. Deep down she knew she wouldn’t be far off.
”These vile creatures should be found, tagged and destroyed. They are a danger to our society and to the countries safety. Something must be done about it.”
A flood of painful memories obscured her vision. Images of a woman repeatedly saying, “There must be a cure” while searching through chemistry and biology books played in her head. The torrents of verbal abuse she had said before she left rang in her ears. Kes had decided long ago that she didn’t have a mother and this news report only compounded that fact.
The newsreader went to another article, but Kes was boiling with rage. She hadn’t realised she had grabbed the back of the couch or that her nails were dangerously close to puncturing holes in the fabric, but she was beyond caring. Hot tears ran down her face.
“Jerks. Stupid, narrow-minded jerks.”<br> She was aware that Rouge and Logan were looking at her. They didn’t know what was going on and she wasn’t about to tell them. Kes didn’t say anything else she just left the room and calmly walked up the stairs to her room totally forgetting about her book in the kitchen. She wanted to be alone and being alone was something she was good at.

"It just dawned on me that you said "going out" , but I dont see Gambit anywhere. Whose this special person, that gets to bask in your presence?"
"Only the worthy" She smiled as she sniffled away the last of the tears. "Actually, just a few of the gals, Betsy, Kitty, Je--"
She was cut off as one of the students, Kesker, came running into the room.
“Go back 3 channels.”
She raised an eyebrow questioningly at Logan and shrugged. Three channels later, they were watching a very heated riot unfold.
”These vile creatures should be found, tagged and destroyed. They are a danger to our society and to the countries safety. Something must be done about it.”
It was all she could do to keep herself from punching the television. She never really had much tolerance for intolerance, and the mumbling from behind her let her know that she wasn't the only one in the room who felt that way.
“Jerks. Stupid, narrow-minded jerks.”
"You said it." She turned just in time to see the girl walk off. Any normal person probably would have gone after the girl, but both Rogue and Logan knew about isolating themselves, and it didn't take a telepathy to tell that that's what the girl wanted.

"Go back three channels."
Logan seeing Kes entering the room responded without pause, and switched the channel back to one of the more current news programs. The familar reporter that most the Xmen were use to seeing appeared in the middle of what appeared to be a riot. Logan could feel himself tense up as the scene escalated.
”These vile creatures should be found, tagged and destroyed. They are a danger to our society and to the countries safety. Something must be done about it.”
Logan growled a deep forboding growl, it was clear he wasnt happy with what was going on. He looked at Rogue who seemed to be reacting in a similar way.. "Maybe we should teach those no good, pieces of sh**..." Logan quickly caught himself before he allowed his rage to get any further.
“Jerks. Stupid, narrow-minded jerks.”
Logan grinned, at least he wasnt the only one that felt that way, but he had learned the hard way that anger and violence really do solve nothing. Welll maybe not nothing , but close to it.
Logan looked to Rogue as Kes stormed out the room. Her tears had all but dried up. At first there was rage in her face, but it quickly died away to a soft, wry almost playful look.
"Well thats enough excitement for me, for one day. See ya gorgeous. Have fun tonight or whatever. I think I really need a workout now..." Logan laughed a bit then headed out toward the elevator leading to the subbasement.

She smiled at Logan as he left the room. "Seeya, Wombat."
She flipped through the channels a little more, then turned off the TV and decided to find out what was taking everyone so long.

Kitty was still busy getting ready and the last thing Betsy wanted to do was possibly interrupt Jean and Scott in their bedroom so she headed back to the rec room to find it pleasently empty.
The tv had been switched off so she went to the stereo and turned that on instead. Jazz music filled the air and made Betsy smile. She always did love to dance and was really looking forward to tonight, if everyone would just hurry and get ready.
She closed her eyes and listened to the soulful music, allowing it to seep into her body and soul.

The noise in the hallway disrupted the little trance the music had helped put her in and with a sigh, Betsy turned the stereo off. Glancing at the clock on the wall, she knew it was getting too late for any of them to be going anywhere fun.
Frowning, she did a very basic psychic sweep of the people close to her and learned that something had caused Jean to collapse (Scott was pretty upset by this and that was just on the surface) and a new student had arrived at the school. Admitting defeat, she decided to go for a walk instead.
Betsy went to her room long enough to get her coat then went outside into the cold, fresh air.
[Betsy leaves the Rec. Room and goes outside]

<Continued from Psylockes Room> Sitting on the couch was the first thing on his mind, finding the remote, the second. "Now were in hell did that..." Logan dug into the crevices between the cushions, growling triumphantly when his hand found the plastic gold. "Now lets see...whats this?" (( What Logan Sees)) Proping his feet on the coffee table in front of him, Logan let out a sigh. He looked at his watch seeing that Scott still hadn't called the team yet. He tried to keep his eyes open but sleep was overtaking him again. Logan leaned his head back and started to snore lightly.

The broadcast was interrupted by the loud playing of the station's song.
"We have a breaking report coming in from South Africa. Marcia?"
The screen flickered and a smiling news reporter's face tried to mask the dankness of the building she was in.
"This is Marcia Jones, reporting live from the Paul Martin Containment Facility. There seems to be a break-in going on as we speak."
The camera showed the door as it gave way and a woman stepped through, the light from the camera blinding her for a split second. Marcia cocked her head to the side. "I know you..."
But it was Bud who identified the woman first, and since he was closest to the boom microphone, his voice was the one that got patched through, loud and clear.
"You're one of the X-Men!"

Kes walked lightly down the stairs. She could clearly hear the TV and light snoring from the Rec. Room’s seemingly only occupant. A few more steps down told her it was Logan. She smiled and walked over to wake him when the TV report caught her attention.
"You're one of the X-Men!"
She so badly wished she could see the screen.
“Logan. Logan wake up.”<br> She prodded him gently in the shoulder from behind and was more then ready to spring back from his claws if the occasion called for it.

"Wjaaatt...time..." Logan stirred from Kes's prodding, sleepily he opened his eyes.
"Whats up kid?" He looked blankly at Kes, having not yet gotten fully awake.

She silently pointed at the TV.
"They said something about an X-Man, but I can't see whats going on."

The news report continued, and the woman who had been identified as one of the X-men tried to cover her face, before recognizing the futility.
"Aw, hell." She reached for the camera and suddenly, the feed cut off, although the audio was still working.
"Ah'll pay you back for that, don't worry. Sorry, really. Which way to th' mutant wing?" a pause. "Thanks... Sorry again, Ah wouldn'ta done it if Ah had a choice."
The voice faded out, and the news anchors shuffled their papers nervously.
