“Definitely need a weekend away, luv," Sean commented as he walked over to her and Sharon and reached out to scratch the panther behind her ears. Betsy was just about to issue a warning to him that although this was Sharon in a way, she didn't know if this was Sharon as they knew her, when Sharon budged up against her hand, wanting to be pet. Betsy was still a bit apprehensive. Sure, she acted like Sharon, felt like Sharon but they were talking about a very large, possibly very dangerous, panther. In their War Room.
Glancing back at Ash, she noticed the woman's eyes never left Sharon but she had put her flame out. Then Sharon started purring. Very, very loudly and it resounded through the metal room. Startled, Sharon pulled back quickly, slipped on the floor with her large paws and as she was falling, a young girl appeared in the place of the panther. Completely naked except for long, purple hair, the girl continued to fall and almost as quickly as she appeared, their familiar house cat Sharon was back.
Betsy watched all this with very wide eyes and she vaguely heard Ash comment, "I. need. some. coffee." At least she hadn't been the only one to see that. As a telepath, she sometimes witnessed things that non-psychics could see. Sharon acted like nothing at all had happened and went right to giving herself a bath. Reaching up for Sean's hand, Betsy stood and stared at what she had thought was a cat. Now she was almost positive that Sharon was no ordinary cat.
“Oh my god,” she finally whispered. The reality of what they had just witnessed sank in slowly and Betsy added, “She's a mutant. That's the only explanation.” Betsy leaned against Sean for support. They were raising a mutant who was most comfortable in house cat form. Looking at the other two, she quickly added, “You both saw that, right?” From the look on their faces, they most certainly had seen what she had.
Slowly pulling away from Sean, Betsy walked back to a chair and sat down on it, staring at Sharon. What they had just seen was so.....unreal that she was positive the only reason she could still see it so clearly was because she had a perfect visual memory. Already, her mind was beginning to find ways to coax Sharon into morphing again, this time for a longer period of time. Cautiously, Betsy did something she had never done before. She peered inside the mind of a cat and opened a small link with Sharon. Gingerly, she said, <Sharon?> All she wanted was to see if the tiny animal would reply to the simple act of her name being said in her head.

Sean watched in shock and awe as Sharon changed from a panther, to a girl, to her normal feline form. Sean could only blink, and scratch his chin. He heard Ash,
“I need. some. coffee." Sean nodded in her direction, coffee sounded good. Very good at this point. He took the hand Betsy held up in his. This was not something he was expecting. The events of this day were all unexpected, and he was glad not to be the only flustered one. Betsy leaned against him, and he wrapped his arms around her.
“You both saw that, right?” Sean nodded slowly,
“Aye, tha' I did. I . . . kin barely believe it, but I saw it.” About a million thoughts flew through his head. The cat he'd bought as a present for his girlfriend was a teenage girl. A teenage girl who had seen them. In intimate moments, when they hadn't thought anything of that. Sean's face turned a brilliant shade of scarlet while realizing this lovely gem of information. He was sure that Betsy knew exactly what he was thinking.
Betsy walked back to the table, and sat down, looking intently at Sharon. Sean walked back over and sat heavily. More and more he was convinced that they needed to get away. Just for a weekend. He thought hard for a moment about a weekend at Braddock Manor. Only the two of them, maybe Sharon. But no students, emergencies, or anything else. A chance to relax for a bit, even if it was only a weekend.

She looked up at them. Why was everyone staring? She was just cleaning herself, and that had been all that she was doing. She hadn't done anything weird, and she certainly hadn't just switched into two completely different things. And anyone who thought different was crazy. Because she was just cleaning herself. "I. need. some. coffee." Coffee... coffee was that dark stinky stuff. She never understood why people liked it. She heard Purple Luv whisper something, and turned to her for a moment, before lifting her leg and cleaning the underside. They could talk all they wanted, as long as they didn't bother her.
"You both saw that, right?” Saw what? She slowly lowered her leg. No. They didn't see anything. “Aye, tha' I did. I . . . kin barely believe it, but I saw it.” She looked at Orange Luv. No he didn't! No one saw it! Furiously, she continued to clean. Cleaning. That's all that they saw, see? <Sharon?> She jumped. That was Purple Luv. But loud. Louder than ever before. She loooked over at her and cocked her head. <Luv?>

Ash was still having trouble putting a coherent thought together as Besty grabbed Sean's hand to help her stand up. Ash was thankful that she was not the only person shocked by this new turn of events. Sean hadn't seemed to surprised, but then, when was the man ever surprised by anything? Ash however... It didn't take much, in fact had she not still be very very very distrubed, she would have been proud at the fact that she had kept her fire under control. Every now and then she still had an 'incident', and she would have bet on anything that this would have caused just such and incident, had she known about it before it happened. She could not believe that the cat she had held and cuddled since Sean had given her to Besty had just turned into a panther and then a human. In fact it was so unbelievable that Ash was tempted to think this was all just some random dream and that she would wake up and none of it would have happened.
Oh my god whispered Besty She's a mutant. That's the only explanation. It took Ash a moment for her brain to understand what Besty had just said, and then she felt a wave of pity for Besty. Obviously she needed a mental exam just as badly as Ash did. A mutant? Sharon? There was no possible way on planet earth! No wait, this was a dream, so there could be a way. Alright, for Besty she would go along with it. Her dear darling kitten was a teenage mutant girl.
Ash made a mental note to never tell anyone about her 'dream'. They would absolutly insist that she be put into a mental home. That would kill her of course. SHe hated people who wore things like lab coats, they scared her out of her wits ever since she'd been sent to the PMCF. Of course she wouldn't blame the X-men if they did send her to a insanity house. SHe had half a mind to send herself there when she woke up.
You both saw that, right?”
Ash was actually tempted to shake her head no, perhaps if she said she didn't, she would forget about it. Perhaps if she said she didn't, it wouldn't have happened... Too bad Sean had to be all supportive to his girlfriend.
Aye, tha' I did. I . . . kin barely believe it, but I saw it
Ash felt like crying, she really did. A cat? A mutant? This was possibly worse than Nathan coming back from the dead... that had actually been done before... but a CAT? Besty sat down and Sean followed her. Ash looked helplessly from one to the other. Besty had always been there for her, and Sean had sort of adopted the position when he started living with Besty... almost like Ash was part of the package. Both of them seemed just as lost at this new crisis as she was. well she thought, then I'm going to have to handle this one on my own, my own way... with coffee.
Ash pushed away from the counter, deliberatly NOT looking at the cat on the floor. She looked at Besty, "I'm... going to go..." where? she thought as her voice trembled slightly, " Somewhere." she finally said firmly. Yes that was it. She was going Somewhere. Oh god she needed to be put in a white room with padded walls and never let out again. Ever.
when was this dream going to end?
"I'll uh... see you... around?"
She didn't wait for an answer, but left the room immediatly, taking care to give the... thing... a wide birth. Where or where was that annoying but wonderful purple cat she knew?

Both Sean and Ash confirmed that they had also seen Sharon morph. As she concentrated on the little cat's mind, which was very, very hard to grasp, Betsy sensed Sean sit next to her. Ash's emotions were in turmoil and it was all Betsy could do to block them out. It had been a very long time since she had projected that strongly. She remembered lots of long nights with Ash, helping her to control her power and to realize that she was no longer something to be experimented on. She was a person and according to Betsy, a very wonderful and worthwhile person. In that time together, they began a sort of aunt/niece relationship but over time, it grew into a genuine friendship and Betsy considered Ash one of her dearest friends.
She wasn't terribly surprised when Ash pushed off the counter she'd had the death grip on and said quite timidly, "I'm... going to go...somewhere. I'll uh... see you... around?" With that, Ash left the room.
As Ash left the room, Betsy sent her a fleeting thought, <A cup of tea does sound rather nice.> Without thinking, she had slipped back into her heavy British accent.
Betsy's concentration was still on Sharon and the cat replied, <Luv?>
At that, Betsy had to grin. Sharon had called her Luv. The cat....girl must have picked it up from being around her and Sean. There was no one else in the mansion who used that term. Gently, Betsy continued her little experiment. <Sharon, can you tell me who this is?> Betsy asked the cat, injecting the image of the young purple haired girl in her mind. <Can you become her again?>
It was risky but Betsy had to know. God, when Sean had adopted the cat he'd had no idea he could have possibly been adopting a girl instead. What would that make them? She didn't even want to speculate on that answer.

Sean watched as poor Ash just looked so confused and befuddled by the turn of events. He sympathized, as this had him all twisted and turned round. He felt like he'd been hit on the head with a giant hammer made of silly putty. Kids reappearing from the dead, cats that were really young mutant teens . . . . Life around here had gone completely insane, in relatively short time. Then Ash was standing up, and leaving the room,
"I'll uh... see you... around?" And with that, Ash had fled. Not that Sean could blame her. He watched Betsy locking eyes with Sharon, and was just a bit unnerved. It wasn't every day the cat you bought for your girlfriend, as a surprise present, turned into a teenager. Sean just put his head on the table, waiting for them to finish.

"I'm... going to go... somewhere. I'll uh... see you... around?" She looked up as Ash left, watching her walk down to the end of the hallway, before turning back to Purple Luv. And she was smiling. Smiling was good. Smiling was very good. Orange Luv wasn't smiling, though. <Sharon, can you tell me who this is?> And then there was a picture in her head. A girl was... falling? She looked familiar, but Sharon couldn't quite place her. Until she eralized that the girl had turned into a cat. A cat that looked just like the one that she always walked down that shiny hallway with. <Can you become her again?> Could she what?! become her? How did that work? She couldn't become things. She was a cat.
Cats didn't just turn into people. Purple Luv was crazy. Out in the hallway, one of the boxes settled and fell to the floor loudly. Already rather tense, Sharon jumped, morphing into the girl while in the air and landing rather painfully on her bottom. Suddenly, everything was different. She couldn't see nearly as well, and she was cold. The floor was cold. Looking down, she blinked a few times. She had hands. Why did she have hands? She followed her arm, wondering where all the fur had gone, and why she was so pale. After examining her arm, she looked down. Woah, she had other things, too. She glanced to the side, noticing that she had two hands. And they were weird. Bringing them closer to her face, she moved them. They bent in strange places, and looked absolutely nothing like paws.
Looking up at the Luvs, she frowned. What was happening?

At first, Sharon just looked at her in confusion and the only reason Betsy knew it was confusion was that she could actually feel it in the feline. She'd never connected with her like this before, never had a reason to, so everything she was feeling was new and......nerve wracking. If her suspicions were correct, the woman who never wanted any children may have inadvertently adopted a teenager. That was very unsettling and in a moment of pure insanity, Betsy wondered whose name Sharon would be given, hers or Sean's.
Mentally shaking those crazy thoughts aside, she continued to watch Sharon as a box in the hallway fell and Sharon jumped, started. Like before, Sharon slipped and morphed in front of them, this time holding the shape. Betsy winced as the girl came down on her bottom on the hard floor. Sharon was stark naked and Betsy could feel the discomfort in Sean that had just risen several degrees. Looking at her lover, she said, “Give me your shirt.” His shirt off, Betsy walked over to Sharon and knelt in front of the confused girl.
Slipping the fabric over Sharon's shoulders, she covered her the best she could. Focusing on Sean again, she said, <Find some blankets or something. Better yet, run upstairs and get something of mine that may fit her. If she holds this shape for any length of time.>
Looking Sharon in the eyes, Betsy said, “Hello, Sharon. You are simply full of surprises today.” Reaching up slowly as to not startle the newly morphed teenager, Betsy tucked a lock of long purple hair behind Sharon's ear and tilted her chin up to face her. “Don't be frightened, Princess. Together, we will figure out what is going on.” Betsy kept her voice low and soft, making no sudden moves.
Her mind, however, was racing. This completely changed everything. There was no doubt now that Sharon the Cat was truly Sharon a Teenage Girl. Scott would crap his pants if he weren't already busy dealing with his own crisis. No, for now, her and Sean would have to take this one on themselves. Once Sharon was more comfortable, they'd introduce her to the others.

After giving Betsy his shirt, and making a quick trip to their room, Sean was back with a pair of jeans and a shirt. He had no clue if they would fit Sharon, but at least she'd have clothing on. He handed them to Betsy, and made sure to look in the other direction so that Sharon would have some privacy. This was very awkward for him. He was sure Betsy could feel that.
Sharon being a teenager changed a few things. She would need her own room at the mansion. Most definitely her own, cause Sean enjoyed what little time he and Betsy got alone. Not that Sharon most likely hadn't seen a few things that she probably shouldn't have. That was not a good thought. Not at all. He could feel his face redden as he realized what Sharon had witnessed.

Soon, Purple Luv had covered her in a shirt, which made it a little warmer. Not nearly warm enough, though. “Hello, Sharon. You are simply full of surprises today.” She watched through incredibly dull and headache-inducing eyes as Luv touched her hair. Why was her hair like that? She jerked her head to the side, trying to see it better. Looking up as Luv guided her chin toward her, she watched silently. “Don't be frightened, Princess. Together, we will figure out what is going on.” She nodded. So she was still Sharon? Shivering, she looked at Purple Luv again. <Cold, Luv>
Orange Luv had left the room (and she hadn't even noticed, thanks to the heavily impaired sense of hearing that her new body had), and he walked back in, startling her again. She flinched, but reamined in human form. All she wanted was to be a cat again. And not be cold and blind and deaf. Orange Luv put something in Purple Luv's hands then walked to the other side of the room, turning away. Why was he mad? Did he not like cats either? Like Glasses? She watched the things that he'd brought with him. Wha... they looked familiar. They were clothes. The jeans were the ones that Purple Luv kept on the chair. She liked to nap on those jeans. Leaning forward, she looked at them closely. They were covered in little tiny purple hairs. A little smile started to form on her face, and she looked up at Purple Luv. What next?

Sharon was almost frantic in her discovery of her new body and Betsy really couldn't blame her. Betsy herself was still in a form of shock but endless training had taught her how to handle even the most insane situations. At least, she hoped it paid off right now. Before Sean came back, Betsy heard very clearly, <Cold, Luv.>
“I know. Sean went to get you some clothes. He will be down soon,” Betsy assured her gently. Her eyes scanned over Sharon's new body and she realized just how long the child was. It was possible she was even taller then Betsy and that was saying something.
Sean walked in and without looking at Sharon, he dumped the clothes in Betsy's lap. Poor guy, he was giving off such uncomfortable emotions but Betsy really didn't want to be left alone with Sharon just yet. She wanted him here to witness what was happening or else she would think she was going as loony as Ash thought she was. Sharon gave Sean's back a hurt look and Betsy realized that she thought Sean didn't like her. It was amazing how clearly the girl's emotions were becoming to her the longer Sharon stayed in human form.
<He's just giving you privacy, dear. Sean still loves you like I do but as a human girl, there are some things that a man does not need to see. I promise, he is not mad at you at all,> Betsy told Sharon privately.
Vocally, she said, “Now, Sharon, these are underclothes and they are to be worn against your body. Let me show you how to put them on.” Betsy went about dressing the girl in underwear and a bra taking note that they really needed to get a bra in Sharon's size. Betsy's was just too big. “Now, these are jeans and they will cover your legs. You put them on one leg at a time like this,” Betsy continued as she showed Sharon how to put her legs into the jeans. She hadn't dressed someone else since Nathan was an infant and even then, it had been a tiny baby, not a teenage girl.
Finally coming to the t-shirt, Betsy pulled it up so that there was very little fabric between the opening of the shirt and the neck. Reaching out, she quickly but gently slipped it over Sharon's head and helped put her arms through the arm holes. Thinking to Sean, she said, <She's dressed, Sean.> Then, a few seconds later, she added, <What the hell are we going to do with a teenage girl that you adopted?>
To Sharon, she said, “Do you want to try and stand on two legs, Sharon? It may take a while but I believe you can learn how to walk with our support.” That's when it hit her. They were going to have to teach Sharon how to be a human. That meant learning to talk, walk, eat, go to the bathroom, etc, etc. Once again, Betsy was reminded as to why she never wanted children. So why did fate have to drop a child literally on her lap?

Sean waited while Betsy helped Sharon get dressed. When she gave him the "all clear" He turned around slowly, and smiled at Sharon. Betsy's clothes weren't a perfect fit, but they were much better than his shirt had been. He was more comfortable and felt less awkward now. He walked over to her slowly, and Betsy asked him,
<What the hell are we going to do with a teenage girl that you adopted?> Sean grinned at her, they had discussed kids only a few times, and she didn't want any. After what had happened to Nathan, Sean didn't push for it. He thought back to her,
'Get her a room of her own, raise her, and teach her. Wha' else? I know ye did nae want kids, but well, fate has had it's way with us. Ready ta be called 'Mum', luv?'

<He's just giving you privacy, dear. Sean still loves you like I do but as a human girl, there are some things that a man does not need to see. I promise, he is not mad at you at all.> Privacy? What did he not need to see? Nothing made sense, starting with the fact that she did seem to look a lot like a human girl. “Now, Sharon, these are underclothes and they are to be worn against your body. Let me show you how to put them on.” She did not like the idea of that. Why did she have to wear anything? She never did before. Still, she remained relatively calm as Betsy helped her get dressed. But immediately, she decided that she loathed... what were they called? Underclothes? Right. They were her new enemy. Even worse than the yellow mouse.
“Now, these are jeans and they will cover your legs. You put them on one leg at a time like this.” Legs? What legs? She looked down at what Betsy was doing, noticing her feet for the first time. Wow, they looked weird. Why weren't her claws where they were supposed to be? What good were they, up on the top of her foot? And they didn't even look sharp. Woah. She definitely didn't like pants either. They were good for sleeping on, but wearing? No. She looked down at the pants, noticing the zipper and using her brand new fingers to unzip it and then zip it up... repeatedly. At least that was fun.
Next thing she knew, Luv was putting something over her head. She squirmed, trying to wiggle free of whatever Luv was trying to catch her with. Unfortunately, she was against the wall, and not very good at moving her body. So Luv won, and so did the thing that she'd caught her in. And none of it was comfortable. Sure, she wasn't warm anymore, but the jeans were stiff and the underclothes were just evil. At least Orange Luv was happy again, though. He even smiled. She grinned back, not even realizing that she could.
“Do you want to try and stand on two legs, Sharon? It may take a while but I believe you can learn how to walk with our support.” She cocked her head to the side. Walk? But she didn't have a tail. How was she supposed to keep her balance? Where was her tail, anyway? She turned, trying to see if maybe it was hiding behind her. It wasn't, and it definitely wasn't inside the clothes with her. Looking back up at the Luvs, she nodded slowly as she zipped the jeans up and down a few more times. Walking might be a good idea. Maybe then she could go get that mouse. He started it all, there was no doubt about it.

<Get her a room of her own, raise her, and teach her. Wha' else? I know ye did nae want kids, but well, fate has had it's way with us. Ready ta be called 'Mum', luv?> Sean asked her and she could just feel him grinning at that question.
Betsy was not amused. Surely it wouldn't be that hard for the child to learn to say “Betsy”. Sharon had squirmed and Betsy had pretty much prepared for it. If she had thought she was a cat all her life and suddenly had to wear a human body with human clothes, it would not be a very comfortable thing. She really tried to make it as drama free as she could but other then taking over Sharon's mind, which she would not do, there wasn't much more Betsy could do. This was a huge adjustment. For all of them. Her thoughts turn to Ash and Betsy was tempted to send Sean up to talk to her but the Sharon decided that she did want to try walking.
“Very well, Sharon. Sean and I will hold you up so that you can get used to what two legs instead of four feel like. Are you ready?” She waited for Sean to position himself on one side of Sharon and she got on the other. Gently, they lifted the long teenager up on her feet and showed her how to put one in front of the other while trying to maintain her balance.

Sean could tell Betsy did not care for his suggestion. He just smirked at her impishly, as he helped Sharon to her feet. This was not something he'd pictured doing when he signed on at Xavier's. Then again, neither was delivering babies or falling in love. Life at the mansion was always interesting, sometimes a little too interesting for his sanity.
Sean wondered what the next crisis would be today. It seemed to be one thing after another today. He thought to himself,
'Mother never warned me about days like this. Nope, not at all. But if she had, I would nae have believed her at any rate. Or just thought she'd gone 'round the bend. Then another thought hit Sean, with all the craziness that had happened, it was not looking good for their date. Now that was a real mood killer.
