Xavier stirred, waken from his nap. Sleep would not be his escape today, nor his companion. Rubbing his head he poured a small glass of bourbon, swishing it around he allowed it to "breathe" gently. Before he could take a sip, his mind froze for moment as it recognized a mental footprint.
"Emma..", Charles was relieved that she had come, but there where others here as well. His mind searched the hotel as he began to detect a menagrie of mutants all gathered in the same place.
<Emma Frost, I see you accepted my invitation, will you be joining me in the hearing?>

Emma didn't know how long she had been sitting there in front of the computer. Dinner had been served and cleared by the hotel staff and the sun had set outside. Her research was slow but that was to expected considering the amount of barriers she had to break down. However, Kerian did his work perfectly, as always, and had given Emma everything she needed.
<Emma Frost, I see you accepted my invitation, will you be joining me in the hearing?> came the masculine voice in her head.
Emma had to hold back a chuckle. Xavier sounded more stressed then usual and that was saying a lot. They rarely saw eye to eye on anything but this affected them all. The situation was severe indeed when the great and noble Charles Xavier invited Emma Frost anywhere.
< Ah, I was wondering when you would come knocking, Charles. Yes, I accepted your “invitation” and I am looking forward to the hearing tomorrow morning. I take it you and your X-Men will be speaking? >

< Ah, I was wondering when you would come knocking, Charles. Yes, I accepted your “invitation” and I am looking forward to the hearing tomorrow morning. I take it you and your X-Men will be speaking? >
The soft cooing sounds of Emma's telepathic communications were always startling yet exotically appealing. Xavier quickly took hold of his mind not allowing his thoughts to go any further. <Yes if the house allows us to do so, if not then we will be represented by another.> Xavier softly began to probe Emma's mind as not to alarm her of his concern, but as he expected her highly trained abilities had placed barriers deep within her psyche to foil any probing. <Emma I hope you wish to settle this as peacefully as I do. This must be handled with the utmost of care! You must also be aware that it is highly likely, that the Brotherhood will become involved in this.>
Suddenly an image entered Charles mind. An explosion in a warehouse in downtown Washington...fire everywhere... people running...men in arms...his X-men, Magneto, Emma... dead...no! no! no!
Xavier grabbed his head in pain as the image played over and over again, he stumbled from his wheelchair to the floor reeling in agony, as a feeling like sharp needles being stuck into his brain overcame him. <Emma....>

<Yes if the house allows us to do so, if not then we will be represented by another.>
<Represented by another? Now, Charles, why would you let them turn you away? Who better to represent our cause then the very mutants they are trying to incarcerate?> she countered. Indeed, why allow someone who was not a mutant to try and speak on their behalf. It was ludicrous at best.
<Emma I hope you wish to settle this as peacefully as I do. This must be handled with the utmost of care! You must also be aware that it is highly likely, that the Brotherhood will become involved in this.>
Sending a “tsking” sound through their connection, Emma replied, <Charles, I am here alone unlike yourself who has his precious students as back up. Why would I do something so foolish as to handle this in any manner but peacefully? As for the Brotherhood, they could complicate things but as long as we succeed in our mission, they will have no reason to retaliate, will they? Failure is not an option, Charles.>
Suddenly, his mind connected to hers sent a wave of very real fear. Not able to “see” what was happening, it only lasted a few seconds before she heard, <Emma...>
Allowing concern to enter her voice, Emma said, <Charles? Are you all right? Do you require assistance?> If something had attacked already, Emma would have to be prepared.

<Charles? Are you all right? Do you require assistance?>
Xavier strained to respond to Emma, but nothing he tried allowed him to focus on a reply. His mind began to scream as the images became more and more powerful.
At first they were static, like still life images, as if he were viewing snapshots from some other life, but then they became more vivid more alive like a piece of celluloid one sees when a old film first starts. Eventually the images become so fast that appears to be moving to the eye and the mind.
The bodies of his precious X-men lay scattered across a devastated landscape, no life present in them. Then he saw the body of Magneto and his brotherhood also dead lying as scattered as the others. Finally his eyes came to rest on the Hellions who had shared the fates of the others.
Suddenly, a figure of flame and fire appeared pointing a judging finger in Xaviers direction. "YOU DID THIS! YOU KILLED THEM ALL! YOU, AND YOUR PRECIOUS DREAM!! NOW SEE YOUR DREAM, BURNED AND BURIED BEFORE YOUR EYES!!", the feminine yet ominous voice burned in Xaviers mind.
It rose high into the sky its body swathed in a trail of red and orange flames. An aura of bright yellow echoed from its body in all directions. The figure pointed a finger engulfed in bright flames at Xavier. "AND NOW IT IS YOUR TURN OH MASTER OF THE DREAM!!"
A blaze erupted from the figures hands it shot forward impacting Xavier in his chest, he screamed in pain as the searing heat incinerated his body into ashes.
Suddenly the visions ceased, as Xavier could no longer stay conscious his body fatigued from the horrifying images he had just seen. Charles tried to move but his body would not respond, fear had gripped him in its powerful hand and like a scared child facing down a powerful canine, Xavier tucked into a ball and began to shake uncontrollably.

The psychic connection had been cut off too abruptly for Emma's peace of mind. Something was wrong with Charles and she could only assume it was an attack of some kind. She had no idea what room he was in so she sat down in her chair and made herself comfortable. Closing her eyes, she allowed her mind to travel through the hotel, skipping through the thoughts of visitors and employees alike until she found one that would be useful to her.
Locking onto the man's psyche, Emma plunged herself into his mind and abruptly took over. She didn't have time to be too gentle and when she was done, he was going to have a major headache. Now in possession of what the man was doing and seeing, she “suggested” that he turn to the computer and look up the room number of Xavier, Charles. Finally, the name was found and a number flashed on the screen.
Commanding her “assistant” to create a new key card for the door, the man did just that then walked away from the desk. The ride in the elevator was painful for Emma simply because the elevator attendant wanted to converse with the man. She had him just shake his head a few times, knowing her hold would be lost if she tried to make him talk. Finally exiting the elevator and walking to her door, she had him slide the new key card under her door. Lastly, she made him walk over to a chair that was sitting against the wall in the hallway and made him sit down.
Releasing her hold on him, Emma was mentally exhausted. She didn't do that trick very often and now she remembered why. Sitting back in her own chair for several minutes, she knew she was losing what could be precious time. Pushing past the slight headache that was beginning to take hold, she stood up and grabbed the key card from the floor and exited her room.
Taking the stairs two at a time, which was a feat in her skirt and heels, Emma reached Charles' floor and used the card to enter his room. Sensing him in one of the bedrooms, she made her way toward him and cautiously opened the door. There, lying in a fetal position on the floor was Charles. Throwing the door wide open, she quickly made her way to him and knelt down. He was shaking pretty badly and she reached out with her hands on his face and tried to contact him mentally. Whatever was happening was making it impossible to get through so she hurried to the bathroom, soaked a wash cloth in cold water and returned to him. Slowly stroking the cloth over his face, she softly called his name in his ear several times in an attempt to reach him, all the while pushing at the incredible mental barriers she had encountered.

Alex walked through the hallway of the third floor of the building. Finding room 305, he opened the door and fell onto the single bed. He wasn't exhausted but he still rubbed his eyes like he was. He had missed the lecture but meeting his older brother finally was so much better than sitting and listening. He had dreamed of this day for years and it finally happened.
Slapping himself in the forehead, Alex realized he never got Scott and Jean's room number. He didn't want to let this chance go by. There was no way they were getting away from him this time. Not when he could stop it. Alex called down to the front desk and asked for Scott Summers. The answer he got was not a good one. He wasn't registered to have a room there, nor was Jean Summers. He slammed the phone down, angry at himself for letting this opportunity pass by. Now everything rode on Scott's shoulders. If he was interested in knowing his brother then he will stop by before he left. Otherwise, Alex may never get this chance again.
The television turned on to CNN's coverage of the Mutant Registration Act that might get passed the next day. Alex just sat on his bed, watching the coverage and waited for his brother who may or may not come.

Tom pulled the van into the parking Garage of the hotel, that way the sore thumbs of the group wouldn't have to see the light of day. Assuming he was also supposed to check in for everyone, Tom said "I'll be back in just a moment," and walked away from the van.
Returning to the group after ten minutes or so, Tom stuck his head in and said "Everything's ready." He handed the rom keys to everyone. Figuring Exodus would fix the other's apearences, he didn't worry about them going through the lobby. "I'm assuming we'll meet in your room, Magneto, after we get situated."

Magneto took his key card and shrugged at Black Tom. "There is no hurry, Mr. Cassidy," he assured him. "We will not have much in the way of details until Raven arrives tomorrow morning." He started towards the elevator. "If you and your cousin would like to explore the city, I merely ask you keep a low profile." He did not need to ask Exodus to disguise their presence until they were safely in their rooms.
There was one thing he did need of his disciple. "Bennett, would you please scan the minds of hotel's inhabitants and see who all is present?" he requested. He wanted to know just how much security and other such dangerous personnel they needed to avoid. "Then, I suggest you have a shower and a nap, that should aid in the recovery from your hangover."
Erik stepped into the elevator, holding it for the others. Now that they had arrived, all they could merely do was settle in and wait for Mystique.

Exodus recieved his key card to his room and was shocked. He was under the impression that they were in a hurry to finish out the mission. He didn't mind though. Healing from his "hangover" as Magneto put it was necessary and well deserving.
Climbing out of the van, he stepped into the elevator after Magneto. The hotel room should accomodate his needs for recovery until they truly started their mission. Taking Magneto's orders, he began to search the hotel for mutant signitures. There were quite a few mutants in the building but Exodus was starting to strain himself in his current state of mind.
"There are a few mutants in the building. Most notable are a group of anti mutants protestors in the lobby, a few mutants are planning to attend the vote tomorrow," Exodus reported with his eyes closed. He was concentrating harder than usual and it was clearly shown on his face. Looking constipated, drops of sweat formed on his forehead and slowly slid down his face. "There is a recently mentally manipulated employee making his way back down to his postion at the front desk. He came from a room a few floors down from the penthouse. I don't sense anyone in the penthouse, though," Exodus said before stopping his cennection to the building. He was exhausted. There was going to be some serious trouble if he didn't have enough energy to form an illusion to those able to see them. There was no way Magneto would accept his failure and neither would Exodus. Hopefully the psionic trail is still fresh for him to feed off of.

Theresa hadn't said a word since Tom's “final” instructions to her. She was still rather upset with him and spent the whole time in the van simply looking out the window. She couldn't even enjoy the view of the city. What she really wanted was a place to fly. That usually helped calm her down in the past when they had a fight, and Lord knows there were many of them between the two stubborn cousins.
When Tom pulled into the garage of the hotel, it was all she could do not to scream in frustration. Not only was she stuck in this van with a bunch of men who would just as soon tear each other apart, but her open sky was suddenly taken away. Biting her lip and trying to put a lid on her thoughts in case Exodus was “peeking” again, Theresa just ignored them all until Tom came back with keys.
Finally getting out of the van, she pulled the hood of her cloak over her head in an effort to block everyone else out. Since she had no idea where she was going, she waited for Tom to lead her to a room. Maybe once she was alone, she could escape for a few hours. According to Magneto, they weren't going to be needed anytime soon anyway.

Tom smiled when Magneto informed him that thye wouldn't be needed. Although he doubted Theresa would want to go out into the city with him after their little fight. He could easily find someone else to spend time with.
With the rest of the night off, Tom bid farewell to thier fearless leader as well as the lackeys and made his way into the hotel. Finding his room, Tom made himself at home. He threw off his clothes and poured himself a glass of Rum. He then turned on the television and laid on the bed. A few more glasses and he would be sleeping like a baby.

Theresa followed silently and watched what room Tom went into. Glancing down at the paper in her hands, she saw her room was directly next to his. Lovely. Opening the door, she looked around and then removed her cloak and laid back on the bed, her arms spread out and her hair fanning out around her head. She was already bored. Tom would provide entertainment, if she still wasn't so bloody mad at him. Rolling over, she picked up a book that was lying on the nightstand and glanced through all the amenities that the hotel had to offer. It certainly was a posh place, with its very own restaurant, bar, indoor swimming pool, game room and gift shop.
Deciding that anywhere was better then alone in her room, Theresa walked into the bathroom and splashed cold water on her face. Already feeling better, she dried off then ran her fingers through her hair, trying to straighten the mass of reddish blonde curls out. That gave her an idea. Taking off her sweater so she was in her t-shirt and jeans, Theresa put the key card in her back pocket and walked out of her room.
She stopped briefly outside Tom's door and put her hand on the door, ready to knock. Then she hesitated. He had already told her not to rely on him, that she basically needed to grow up and do things on her own. Making a vow right then and there not to ask him for anything else, Theresa turned and walked away from his room.
Taking the elevator downstairs, she walked to the gift shop and was surprised to see it was still open. Smiling at her good luck, Theresa set about picking up various items she believed she needed. Several minutes later, she took her armful of supplies to the cashier and gave the girl her room card. Theresa would just let whoever was paying for the room pay for her things and deep down she hoped that Tom would get stuck with the bill.
After a quick return trip to her room to drop the things off, she returned to the main floor and walked to the bar. Smiling at the bartender, she asked for a soda and noticed his relieved look. Apparently, even if she wanted to, she couldn't get away with being the legal drinking age, whatever that happened to be. After getting the glass, Theresa made her way to a small table and sat down by herself, watching the people come and go. It wasn't as enjoyable as flying above the city but she didn't feel like changing her clothes just for that at this time.

Alex was getting frustrated. It was getting late and there was still no sign of his long lost brother. He was losing patience and faith in him. In frustration, Alex decided to get up and do something. Sleep just wasn't an option right now, there was just too much on his mind. Scott, his older brother was such a surprise to see. Alex had no idea to handle it. He had prepared for that moment for so long and he was almost frozen and stuck for what to say to him. The sudden surprise of seeing him and his wife was just so unexpected. He needed to get his mind off of it. There was no reason to set himself up for a disappointment when Scott won't show up.
Picking himself up, Alex got his things together including the key card to the room and his wallet. He locked the door behind him as he wandered back down to the main lobby.
There was a few things that he could do that the Hotel offered for entertainment. Their was a pool and a billiards room that would keep him occupied and his mind off his brother. They were all interesting but the bar was still open. It seemed like the best bet to drink and talk to some people he has never met before. Random conversation might do the trick better than anything else.
Alex entered the bar and immediately noticed the red head. Great, just what I needed, Alex thought to himself sarcastically. The woman wasn't Scott's wife though. he would have recognized the beauty in Jean Grey but this woman had her own unique kind of beauty to her. But this wasn't why he came down here. He ordered a beer from the bartender and sat on a stool on the opposite side of the red head's table. There were plenty of people inside the bar but the red head just kept catching his attention. Finally finished with his beer, after quite a few glances in her direction, Alex ordered another one.
Every topic around him was about the Mutant Registry Act and that topic just reminded him of the conversation with his brother. That's not what he needed. He had had enough. It was time to make a first approach to this red head. She was the only person in the room that had seemingly caught his attention and he needed that. Walking over to her table, he stood next to her but kept a good few feet away from her.
"Excuse me," Alex said to her trying to catch her attention. "You seem a bit lonely and I thought you could use some conversation," he continued with his eyes locked onto hers so she could see his sincerity. In all honesty, he was the one who needed the conversation. "My name's Alex," Alex introduced himself with his hand out for a handshake.

Theresa had been fascinated by the people around her. She had always enjoyed being around people even when her cousin kept her isolated at the Keep. Someone had turned on some music and although she was unfamiliar with the songs, she found herself tapping her foot along to the beat. Everyone pretty much left her alone and that was fine with her. A waitress had come over and refilled her glass once but had yet to make another appearance.
Theresa was just about to get up to go to the bar and get the drink refilled when she heard, ”Excuse me. You seem a bit lonely and I thought you could use some conversation. My name's Alex."
Theresa almost looked around to see who he was talking to but when his eyes locked with hers, she knew he was talking to her. She looked lonely? Maybe it was because she was one of the few people sitting by themselves. No matter, she smiled at him and indicated to the only other chair at the table she had chosen. “Please have a seat, Alex. I'm.... Terry,” she said, only hesitating slightly as she shook his hand. Sure, it wasn't her real name but it was a variation of her real name and she had been called it more then once by well meaning nannies.
As he sat down, she folded her hands in front of her of her and waited for him to start the conversation, taking in his features. He had a strong face, one that seemed to say “hey, I've been through a lot but look where I am today”. His blonde hair was combed neatly as if he took pride in it and his blue eyes, while guarded, were generally friendly. Theresa was still wondering why he came over to her but figured she'd find out soon enough.
