Dante took a long drag of his cigarette as he ambled down the street. So this was Genosha. As good a place as any, he supposed. He took the cigarette between two fingers and made a comma shape with his mouth, blowing smoke out of the opened corner.
He let out a shuddered breath. It was chilly. The cigarette helped a little. Dante had no hair on his head, or anywhere else for that matter, to provide some warmth. damn, he thought, if I had any cash I'd buy myself a jacket.
Dante tossed away his cigarette and turned his head slightly at the sound of footsteps behind him.

It was starting to get cold outside. Too cold for a Gambit kind of disguise, so she morphed into Sabretooth instead. He was used to the cold. And hairy. She walked down the long path towards the main part of town. The HQ was somewhat isolated, set apart. About halfway down the path, she noticed someone standing there.
"Can I help you with something, Baldy?"

Dante turned around with a sarcastic remark on the tip of his tongue. He swallowed it when he saw the large hairy man towering over him. He stood silent for a moment.
Say something, idiot.
"Uh...y-yeah...You know of anyplace where a guy with no cash can stay for a few nights?" Dante asked, half-joking. He smiled awkwardly and lit up another cigarette.

She looked him over for a minute. "That depends. What would you be willing to give in place of money?"
She crossed her arms, a reltively feminine gesture for Sabretooth.

Dante's eyebrows curved down.
"What do you mean?" He asked instead of asking if this strange man was coming onto him.
He shoved his hands in his pockets, leaving his cigarette hanging from his lips. After a second he said, "Like, work? 'Cause I can work."

She stifled a laugh, and nodded, before morphing into her true form. "Yes, like work. Unless, of course, you're up for something else." She paused, trying to read his reaction. "Tell me, have you ever heard of an organization called the Brotherhood of Mutants?"

Dante's ciagarette fell out of his gaping mouth and was carried away by a breeze. He'd met mutants, but had never seen one like this. Dante was both attracted to and disturbed by the blue woman before him.
"The Brotherhood of Mutants...no...never heard if them. Some kind of club for...us?"

She laughed. "Yeah, something like that. I take it you're new to the island then? Do you have a criminal record, by any chance?"
She didn't know why she bothered asking the question. It didn't really matter. Chances were, he would have one after he got involved in the Brotherhood.

He nodded. "I'm new." He didn't explain that he'd stowed away on a ship for a week to get here.
"No record."
Never been caught.
"I've got people after me in the states, but no official record. What does this have to do with anything?"

"Simply the fact that the Brotherhood does some things that may be considered... illegal. But it's all for the good of the cause. We'll give you room and board, but you have to pull your weight."
She turned back towards the building and gestured. "Follow me."

Dante wasn't sure what he was getting himself into, but free room and board sounded awfully good to him.
Too good to be true?
"We'll see." Dante said aloud, not realizing he'd done so.
"Illegal, huh?" He called after the blue woman as he followed.

She raised an eyebrow at his talking, but continued up the path. Once she reached the door, she ushered him inside.
"It's best to discuss things like this within the building."

Exodus levitated himself up to the roof of the complex. He waited patiently for the intruder to come. He had no doubt's in his mind that he could overcome his foe, even though he had no idea of his powers.
Exodus' own powers are unrealised by him. He needed some more training with them but from what he's seen and done with them, he's more powerful than he ever expected. He was hoping for some resistance from the intruder.

With a roar, Hybrid barreled out of the headquarters and into the daylight. His softball-sized eyes squinted in the bright light.
Hybrid, looking like some sort of man-dinosaur-ape, flared his nostrils. The psychic was somewhere above him, Hybrid could smell him. Hybrid jerked his T-Rex head up and roared a sort of greeting to Exodus, and thumped a massive claw-fist against his chest.
Incapable of speech, Hybrid launched a thought in what he figured to be Exodus' general direction.
Let's get this done.

Exodus reached out on the psychic plane, searching for the intruder. Instead, he found the familiar sense of the monster that burst out of the door underneath him. The monster sniffed and pounded at his chest while staring at Exodus. Only a single thought was taken from his head, Let's get this done.
Exodus wondered what he meant. He only planned to keep the intruder out of this building. He was going to stoop over the entrance like a gargoyle, protecting its inhabitants.
Unfortunately, the beast knew more about this place better than Exodus so he glided back down to the ground beside the beast. "After you," he said as he presented his arm out to the side and gestured to the path ahead. Exodus had no idea who the intruder was or what his psy pattern was. It would be impossible for him to find him.
