They left, and it was quiet again. Quiet so she could think. Standing up and straightening herself out, she jumped onto the table (which was a lot smaller in panther form, she noticed). Maybe she could think on the table. The table was cold, though. She needed somewhere warm to think. Somewhere not metal. Jumping off the table, she skidded a bit on the floor, morphing back into housecat form and staring, dazed, at the wall. Okay. Back.
Trotting to the other side of the room, she jumped back up onto the table. It was big again, and all was well in the world.

Sean walked back into the war room to find Sharon back in her house cat form, relaxing on the table. He couldn't help but smile at the adorable purple cat. Then he went around his business, setting up the war room, and the other rooms on that level for the added security that it would need. They had to be careful, even though Anna was a former student, she was also a member of the guard. They couldn't let a whisper of what really went on here outside these walls.
Sean wasn't really sure how he felt at the moment. He was ecstatic that Betsy had said yes. He was also excited about the idea of telling everyone. And then there was the possibility of their secrets being exposed . Quite a combination. Plus now he and Betsy had to figure out how to explain Sharon to everyone as well.
Sean then went over to Sharon, and gently picked her up. He carried her out of the room, finishing the security protocols as he went. When it was all secured, he went up the elevator, and headed back to the kitchen.

Sean led Nathan and Sharon to the war room, making sure to grab some blankets and food from the pantry. The war room was not really meant for a place to sleep, but a person and cat could make do for a few days, hopefully. After a little searching, he found an inflatable mattress, too bad he hadn't known about that earlier. He set it up, it wasn't too complicated.
Sean set the food on the table, and the blankets on the mattress. He looked at the table, remembering earlier, with Betsy, his fiancée. His fiancée, now there was a great thought. He couldn't wait to see the expression on Scott's face when he heard their news. Scott was going to be shocked, not that he'd proposed, but that Betsy had said yes. Hell, the fact that she'd agreed to marry him was almost a surprise to him as well. He brought himself out of his thoughts and addressed Scott and Jean's long lost son,
“Nathan, this should be all right for a while, there is a bathroom down here. There's some food, and water.” Sean turned to Sharon, patting her gently on the head,
“Sharon, would ye be ok staying down here for while?” Sean didn't want to try and explain the fact that they had a panther as a pet. But if Sharon wouldn't stay, then she wouldn't stay. He was not going to try and force her.
“We'll find time ta talk later, I'm sure, Nathan. I need ta secured this floor again. If ye need somethin, just give one of yuir parents a buzz.” He tapped his forehead, making his point clear. Then he headed for the door, ready to see how the inspection was going.

She followed Sean down, glancing up at Nathan from time to time. He had a funny arm. She watched the arm shining the whole way down the elevator, and chased the lights that it reflected back onto the wall when they got to the basement. The shiny funny arm was a lot of fun. Of course, she didn't put two and two together until Nathan disappeared into the war room and the lights also vanished. Turning, she noticed them inside and bounded in, skidding on a pile of blankets.
After regaining her composure, she padded over to Sean and sat herself down, leaning into him as he scratched her. “Sharon, would ye be ok staying down here for while?” She looked up at him and then at the shiny arm boy. Stay down there? She looked around and then nodded. She could stay. Sean left and she made her way to the pile of blankets, grabbing a couple with her teeth and dragging them to a corner of the room, where she made a little nest out of them. Sinking into it, she watched Nathan silently.

Nathan followed Sean into the sub levels of the house. It obviously wasn’t a normal basement, must have had to do with whatever his parents did whenever they left him with Askani. He wasn’t quite clear on what that was really. All he remembered was they were always wearing costumes and saying something about the war.
He surveyed the areas he walked through but more than once found himself staring at the panther as it chased the light his metal arm was reflecting on the wall. He chuckled at her every now and then. As they reached their apparent destination, Sharon was somewhere behind them. He didn’t think much of it until she came bounding in and crashing into the blankets Sean had just laid down. He was really beginning the idea of a feline pet. Maybe he’d get one of his one.
“Nathan, this should be all right for a while, there is a bathroom down here. There's some food, and water.” Nathan just nodded in response, taking in the room. He wasn’t sure what they were doing with all this surveillance, but it couldn’t have been legal. He’d have to make a note to ask what all this was for. “We'll find time ta talk later, I'm sure, Nathan. I need ta secured this floor again. If ye need somethin, just give one of yuir parents a buzz.” That statement implied that he believed him. That quickly? He hadn’t expected to get anyone’s approval that quickly. He half expected them to be locking him in a room with a panther to get rid of him. “Sure,” he replied, somewhat hesitantly.
After Sean left, the panther(Who Sean called Sharon) pulled some blankets for herself into a little bed. Smart cat! Since it didn’t seem he’d have anyone to talk with, he sat on the ground, crossed his legs and began meditating. He was familiarizing himself with the grounds that were now his home. It wouldn’t be too long before he had the area figured out, and would be able to spot intruders like his mother had. As he did this, his body gradually levitated off of the ground.

She watched him, more than a little confused. He sat down and crossed his legs. Then, he just sat there. She cocked her head to the side, trying to figure out what exactly was going on, when he started to float. Shocked, she flinched and morphed into human form, still laying on her stomach. Struggling, she propped herself up on her arms and watched him some more, frowning. How was he floating? There was the man with the wings. He could fly. But he had wings. Like a bird. Shiny Arm didn't. He just had a shiny arm and funny hair. She looked at his hair, smiling. His har was funny.
She glanced back at her legs, trying to get them to move so she could sit like him and see if she flew as well. Maybe there was something about being a person that meant sitting like that made you fly. She just had to get her legs to cooperate. They didn't listen. Instead, she looked at him again and asked, < Shiny, how? >

It wasn't long before Nathan felt another fluctuation in the panther's brain patterns. For the moment though, he just ingnored it. It wasn't moving toward him, squirming a little from what he could tell, but not moving toward him. He continued his mental sweeping of the grounds until he heard someone 'say' <Shiny, how?>
That was odd. The 'voice' came from near by, but he and Sharon were the only ones in the room. He opened his eyes quizzically and immediately dropped to the ground with a less that graceful thud. The panther was gone and there was a naked girl sitting where it was. Nathan stared at her, only for the sake of figuring out this mystery...yeah, that's why. He'd never seen an naked girl up close before. That purple hair was what finally did made him crack though. < Sharon? > he asked, almosted embarrassed to be saying it. This was definitely strange.

She frowned slightly, tilting her head to the side as he fell back to the ground. She flinched, but it didn't startle her enough to turn back into a cat. He stared at her, and she stared right back. His hair really was funny. So was his arm, but at least the arm was shiny. < Sharon? > She nodded. "Aye."
He looked shocked. She looked at him, trying to figure it out still. He was floating before, she saw it. She knew that he could float, but she didn't know how he did it. Maybe she'd learn when she figured out how to walk. Closing her eyes, she tried to remember what Betsy had showed her, when they were trying to walk before. Which muscles were what. Slowly, she pulled herself up, pushing herself up against the wall in a seated position. Now, all she had to do was get her legs like his. Maybe then she'd fly, too. She looked over, then down at her legs. It looked hard.
Glancing up at him again, she asked once more, < How? >

Aye.
Aye? Aye?! She just turned from a panther to an incredibly naked girl and all she had to say was aye. Nathan just blinked back at her, wondering whether or not this was even happening. It was very possible that he was really at Essex's lab, having never left at all, under the influence of some powerful hallucinogen. But that wasn't possible, his mind would rebel against the drug. He must have really been in the room with the naked girl who was just a large cat, and she was staring back at him like she saw something amusing.
Very suddenly, and resembling the scattered mindset of a cat, she turned away from him and began to push herself toward the wall. From the way she slid across the floor, you'd think she didn't know how to walk. Once she was against the wall, she just sat there and looked at her legs. <How?> Sharon asked again, using telepathy he just realised she must have possessed. < How...did I levitate? With my mind. > Nathan answered tentatively, before finally saying < Let me get you a blanket. > Using his telekinesis, Nathan picked up and unfolded one of the blankets she had been sitting on. The blanket was pulled into the air and moving toward Sharon, intent on covering her naked body. Maybe then, he could think a little better.

She watched him, confused with his confusion. Was it because she was a girl? That'd confused Ash so bad that she left. And then the Luvs had a big talk about it, and they seemed confused too, but then they were okay and she was confused too, so why could everyone else be confused when she was too and boy was it cold. She'd forgotten about the cold. Not that she could have stopped turning into the girl even if she had remembered.
But Shiny was still looking at her. And it was a different look than the ones she'd gotten before. She had no idea why, but he was looking differently. Maybe it was because he didn't know that she was really a little cat. Maybe that's what made the difference. Knowing that she was really a housecat. She looked back at his legs and then at hers. She wasn't floating. Glancing back up at him, she asked him how he did it.
< How...did I levitate? > She shrugged. Was that what it was called? < With my mind. > That made sense. Not really, though. But she could ask someone later. Because he still seemed weird. < Let me get you a blanket. >
She nodded. Blanket was good. Warm. One of the blankets behind her started to move on it's own, and she didn't see it coming at her until it was over her head. Scared, she morphed into housecat form and jumped out of the way, puffing up and hissing at it. Blankets never attacked her before. Why were they doing it now?
After a moment, she realized that she was back in her real shape, and she tried to smile, not realizing that only people could do that. It just suddenly seemed like the right thing to do. Tearing her attention away from the blanket, she looked back at the boy with the shiny arm, noticing the lights reflecting on the wall again. They were much brighter when she was a cat. And she desperately wanted to chase them. Instead, she sat down, cocking her head to the side and looking at the source of the lights. < Why arm? >

It took all of Betsy's willpower to not march into the War Room herself and protect Sharon from the boy. Instead, she sent Sharon a little message, <Sharon, luv, please try to stay in cat form until Sean or I can come for you.> She knew the girl wouldn't have any idea why but hoped she would do as Betsy asked anyway.

As the blanket reached Sharon, she panicked and jump away, turning into a housecat this time. Great, more morphing. At least she wasn't naked this time. Well, she was but this wasn't nearly as awkward for him. She didn't seem to care at all that she was naked, like she'd never worn clothes before. For that matter, Sean didn't say anything about this. Why would he drop Nathan in a room with a panther girl without saying something? Interesting story indeed.
Nathan dropped the blanket, seeing as it obviously scared the girl er, cat, whatever. She sat down and looked at him again, but not before watching the reflection of his arm on the wall. <Why arm,> she asked, cocking her head like a cat often does. Because a sick bastard played with my genetic make up like I was nothing more than a specimen he could afford to lose. That was Nathan's first thought as his facial features hardened. His opinion changed so much over the last few days. Before he left, if you asked him what happened to his arm, he would refer to Essex as a man who saved his life from the virus. Unfortunately, the truth wasn't that nice. < I got sick a few years ago. The disease took my arm and my eye. > His eye flashed yellow as Nathan told her to sugar coated version of the truth.
< When did you figure out you could change, > he asked next, since it was his turn. From what he had seen in just the past few minutes, she didn't have a very good grip on the ability. She also showed strong ties to the cat like persona. Could she have been born a cat? That would have been an interesting birth to see. A grin spread across Nathan's face as he imagined the looks on the doctors faces as a cat was born from a woman.

< I got sick a few years ago. The disease took my arm and my eye. > She looked up at his eye, noticing for the first time that it was shiny, too. But a different shiny. More of a glow. She didn't know that being sick could make you lose your arm and eye. That was scary, and she would have to make sure that she never ever got sick.
< When did you figure out you could change? > She walked over to the table, jumping up and looking down at him. As she settled down on her haunches, she answered, < Now. >
She watched him as his he started to smile, considering asking him about why he did it, but a sudden voice in her head startled her and she looked around. Purple Luv was talking. <Sharon, luv, please try to stay in cat form until Sean or I can come for you.> She looked back at Nathan, then toward the door. Where did she say that from? Was she hiding?
Jumping down from the table, she proceeded to check beneath it. Nothing. Finally deciding that Purple Luv wasn't in the room, she jumped onto a chair and looked at Nathan, sitting at about eye level. Even if he did have funny hair and a funny arm and a funny eye, he was nice. Much nicer than Glasses man. Glasses man didn't like her. < Are stay? >

Nathan was becoming very interested in this cat. The more he watched it, the more sure he was that she hadn’t spent a large part of her life as a human. Her movements as a cat were too fluid, where as she looked like she could barely move when she was human. She also looked really naked, but Nathan really shouldn’t have been thinking about that.
<Now,[/]> she finally answered after jumping on top of the table and looking at him. She didn’t sit long though. As cats often did, something else caught her attention. She just didn’t seem to know what. Finally settling again, she asked <Are stay?> Hmm, he was fairly sure he was. There were more than a few hurtles involved in staying, but it’s definitely what he wanted, and what his parents wanted. < Yeah, I think so. >
Continuing in their cycle of questions, Nathan asked < How did you learn to communicate? > This really was fascinating. Nathan did pick up a little of Essex’s thirst for knowledge, but definitely not to the same degree.

< Yeah, I think so. > She smiled. Or as close to smiling as she could get. Good, she liked him. Him and his arm and his eye and his silly hair. He was nice, and his shiny arm was fun. She watched the spots on the wall a little more, turning back to him as he asked his next question.
< How did you learn to communicate? > She looked at him blankly. That was a big word. She wasn't entirely sure what it meant. She'd heard it before, but only a little bit. Not enough to know exactly what it was. Deciding that it was better to have a wrong answer than no answer at all, she nodded. < Cat. >
That probably answered the question.
