Ear glared at Mystique. He no longer used Adam as a cover up, it was blown now that she had caught him. He stalked out of the bathroom and told Moss in a gruff voice to get out to the car. He didn't bother making sure that Moss followed he was pretty sure he would, infatuated as he was with Mystique.
Ear arrived at the car and managed to slam the doors opened and closed. He slouched on the backseat and stared straight ahead. This was going to be a miserable ride to DC and he had no doubt that she would make it so.

She walked over to the car, glad to see that Adam had decided to comply. As Moss climbed into the front seat, she reached down and picked up her cell phone. Washington. They were already there. "Yes?"
Turning to Adam, she smiled. He was acting thepart of an angry little man quite well.

Ear sulked a little longer before turning to look out the window. He ignored Moss, as before, and watched the country side fly by. He hesitated at the thought of making faces at the amused looking woman. Instead he opted to ask a questino.
There was no sign of an innocent boy anymore, he was now the streethardened, homeless, take care of himself man. 19 Maybe but his rap sheet was longer than most mens and that was enough for Ear.
"So what do you want me for, you could have dumped me way back in New York."

(( OOC: Over the phone. ))
"Raven, it Erik," Magneto identified himself. "We've made to Washington, checked in and I've told everyone to lay low until tomorrow when you arrive. Also the penthouse is psychically shielded, and someone has been turning bellhops into psychic puppets. After things quiet down and most of the inhabitants are asleep and otherwise occupied, I plan to investigate it. How is your trip going?"

She merged into another lane as he spoke. If they were already there, there was going to be no time for her to waste. Smiling a little bit as Moss fumbled for his seatbelt, she listened intently to Magneto's information. "Let me know what that's all about as soon as you find out. I don't like not knowing who else is sharing a building with us. We're doing fine. We should be there early tomorrow morning, probably before the sun comes up. Moss is going to lose his lunch soon, I fear, but otherwise, we're making good time and having a blast." She looked at Adam in the rear view mirror and grinned. She really was having a good time, despite the fact that they were pretty much going to Washington to fight for their own survival.

Ear just shook his head at her. 'Fun time huh? Loser...' and a bunch of other names for Mystique floated through his head. This was going to get nasty if this was any clue to how fast she could cloak things. He admired her ability to get across that there was an unwanted in the car. She probably didn't want him to over hear anything, 'jerk (and a few more)'.

"Very good Raven," Erik agreed. "I am about to go investigate the penthouse. Whoever is up there did not wish to have any psychic intrusion. Which of course makes me wonder why." Magneto paused for a moment, then his voice came over the phone again. "I must go, Raven," he said calmly. "It seems we might not be the only ones interested in what is going on in the penthouse. I will keep you updated."

She frowned. Someone else was interested in it? So two other groups of mutants... or at least powerful people... "You do that." She snapped the phone shut and the car went silent for a moment before Moss decided to speak up. His voice was barely a whisper, but it was loud enough for anyone in the car to hear, nevermind someone with super sensitive hearing.
"So... we gonna share a room at the hotel, Azul?" One glance at his face, and all the anger that she'd felt toward him earlier and then some came racing back. Cutting across a few lanes of traffic, she pulled the car over and instructed him to get out. Leaning back to grab one of her bags, she warned Adam, "If you so much as set one foot out of this car, I will hurt you in ways you never thought possible."
The time for beating around the bush was over. She grabbed Moss by the arm and led him off the highway, just into the woods. A few moments later, there was a muffled gunshot and then she returned to the car, alone. She tossed the bag back into the car and looked at Ear, slightly more cheery now that a few problems had been solved in one small movement of her finger. "You want to sit up here?"

Ear had thought about jumping out and running to the woods, she wouldn't be able to follow him without him hearing. Then he remebered how she had caught him earlier and decided against it. When she came back and offered the front seat he raised one eyebrow.
"You seriously expect some guy off the streets to sit up front with you?" He said it even as he changed seats. He had heard the shot, he wasn't a numbskull. He was vaugley applauding her in the back of his brian somewhere.
He thought again back to his unanswered question so he asked it again as soon as they were on the move. "Why are you keeping me around here? You could have dumped me just as easily." He motioned to the back where the bag, most likely with Mosses remains, lay.

She just smiled as he switched seats, despite his little comments. Pulling back out onto the road, she could already tell that they were going to make better time. As Adam asked his questions, she cut through the traffic, ignoring the honks and yells and fingers. "Well, for one, you've given me no good reason to kill you. Yet. Two, you've got nothing better to do, and I'm always up for educating the youth of today on our system of government."
She turned sharply, heading off of the highway and cutting up a slightly more narrow but much more deserted back road.

"Educating the youth huh?" Ear snorted mentally, this was very entertaining. "For all you know I'm a college student just hard off right now." He knew she didn't think that, she probably thought him amusing. He admired her driving but got a little wary as they pulled onto the two lane road. "Seriously though, why are you keeping me around?" He was not interested in the dodging this woman was doing, and as for that 'this woman' thing. "What is your name, I hardly thing you, or woman is hardly your name."

She smiled. A hard off college student? That still made him 'youth' in her book. Speeding up, she answered his questions. "My name is Raven, although most people know me as 'Mystique.' You're still here with me because you're a smartass. And some of my friends are smartasses. I think you'd get along famously with them."
It wasn't entirely true, but to be honest, she didn't really know why exactly she'd kept the boy around so long. There was just something about him that intrigued her. He was certainly a better conversationalist than most of the people she knew. Not that that was a hard thing to accomplish...

Ear almost choked as she gave him the reason. "That's pathetic." He thought about the name. "Mystique, fits." He remembered all those times she had changed on him. It made him nervous but he didn't betray that thought, it was only a weapon she could use against him. "Why D.C.?" He hoped it wouldn't be thought of as nosy so he added, "It seems a kind of wrong place to have your metting place there with all the extra security and stuff."
Ear had thought alot about who Mystique was. She had killed Moss, obviously without remorse, and she was familiar with guns, it argued living around them. She was a mutant so she was probably hiding her identity with that registration thingy going on. Something knicked at the back of his brain but Ear couldn't find it so he pushed that away.

The corners of her mouth twitched, halfway between smiling and frowning. "Why D.C.? My... organization deals with mutants in a way that many others do not. We have information about the Registration Acts that are currently up for review. We intend to do all in our power to stop them from passing."
She merged back onto the highway, quite a few miles ahead of the point that they exited, drawing ever closer to D.C. and farther from New York. "The security never has been a problem, and never will be. Guns... guns have a tendency to bend in half when Magneto is around."
