She stifled a laugh as Anna-Marie and Kurt entered. God, it was just a doll. Why was everyone so upset about it? It was years ago. And she'd seen the doll. It wasn't even that cool of a doll. Composing herself, she smiled at the two, trying not to laugh again when a grand game of musical chairs started up. “Why don't you two hook up? It's been nearly twenty years since mom died. Besides, at least someone in this house would be having sex on a regular basis.”
She had just been handed a glass of wine, and unfortunately, she had chosen that moment to take a sip. A sip which wound up creeping to her nose as she snorted. Yeah, that was an interesting idea. Father and Aunt Raven. There was a sudden mental image in her brain that compelled her to take a longer drink of her wine and consider having them bring something a little stronger. It was going to be a very interesting dinner. That much was for sure.

Pietro was watching as Anna-Marie made sure Kurt was safe from Lorna's touching, and smirked a bit. If those two would make up for that silly fight, he was sure they would be good friends again. He fought back a groan as Father and Raven decided to talk business. Then Lorna piped up, just as he was taking a nice long drink,
“Why don't you two hook up? It's been nearly twenty years since mom died. Besides, at least someone in this house would be having sex on a regular basis.” Pietro almost sprayed wine across the table at her. He struggled for a few moments, but finally managed to swallow. He gave Lorna a look, that was yet another image one of his sisters had placed in his head that he didn't need.
Then Pietro thought about the idea some more. If Raven and Father did hook up, he'd gain a brother. An ally! But then he'd also gain another sister, which was the last thing on earth he'd need. He shook his head, and closed his eyes briefly, as he drank deep from his glass.

“Why don't you two hook up? It's been nearly twenty years since mom died. Besides, at least someone in this house would be having sex on a regular basis.” She laughed, more excited by the newfound knowledge that she seemed to be getting more than Lorna than by the idea itself. And Lorna didn't have touching issues. Score one for Anna-Marie. Maybe it was karma. She'd stolen the doll and now it came back to bite her in the butt. Or not bite her in the butt... Rogue really had no idea what kind of things Lorna was into.
"Shall we get the business out of the way first?" And that was looking more and more like the right thing to do. Especially if they were going to be talking about Erik and Raven hooking up. Lorna had a screw loose. That was the only explanation. It was no wonder they weren't friends anymore. Anna-Marie didn't make a habit of being friends with crazy people. She had enough crazy people in her head. And maybe, maybe if she kept telling herself that Lorna was a bad person, she wouldn't regret having made such a big deal about the doll.

Kurt looked across the table at Lorna, the corners of his eyes wrinkling in a hidden teasing smile as he uncoiled his tail from around his chair-back and let it snake under the table...to lightly brush her ankle. He added a slight eyebrow waggle as he peered at her over the rim of his wine glass.
It was all in good fun, besides a little playful flirting with Lorna would serve his sister right, her feud with the princess was really starting to irritate.
"Why don't you two hook up? It's been nearly twenty years since mom died. Besides, at least someone in this house would be having sex on a regular basis.”
That almost sent a mouthful of extremely good wine spraying across the table. Kurt choked and swallowed, smothering his cough with his napkin. Well, wouldn't that just take the whole damned cake. He wiped his mouth and took another hasty sip of wine to try and kill the sudden rush of bitter guilt that welled up.
Kurt slapped a grin on his face and winked at Lorna, "Speak for yourself, M'lady." Not the best cover, but ah, well.
"Shall we get the business out of the way first?"
Oh, goody.

"Are you cheating on me?" Raven's startled expression was nearly convincing, save for the fact she almost immediately grinned at her own jest.
Had it just been the two of them, he would have retorted with some humorous comment ascertaining to Emma Frost and how Mystique should join them sometime, but since they were in the company of their children, he refrained. "Of course not, my dear," he replied lightly as he opened the file in front of him. "Who could compare to you?"
“Why don't you two hook up? It's been nearly twenty years since mom died. Besides, at least someone in this house would be having sex on a regular basis.”
Lorna's question brought the conversation at the table to a dead halt. Wanda inhaled her wine, while Pietro choked on his for a few moments, sending his sister a quelling look during his fit. Kurt managed to cough into his napkin, while his sister seemed to find the comment amusing.
Magneto was sincerely glad he wasn't taking a drink of his wine at that moment. He tensed immediately, and looked up at his youngest daughter, his steely eyes locked with hers. He said nothing, but his look spoke volumes. He was inclined to be indulgent with Lorna, but that portion of his life was none of her business. Especially as she had the gall to mention her own mother in such an off hand manner. Losing Anna had been like having part of his soul ripped out, that void could not be filled by just any woman, even an intelligent, beautiful, and skilled woman like Raven Darkholme. And Lorna should know that.
Taking a drink of his wine, he turned his attention to the papers in front of him. "Someone needs to go inspect the Xavier Institute, Raven," he said, not even bothering to acknowledge Lorna's out of line statement verbally. "I don't expect to find anything amiss, Summers is possibly the most organized person I have ever met, but it has been awhile since anyone has inspected the Xavier Institute." He looked up at Rogue. "Perhaps you'd enjoy a trip to your alma mater, Anna-Marie? It has been quite a few years since you've seen Charles' other students, hasn't it?"

"Of course not, my dear. Who could compare to you?" She nodded. "Good answer." Sipping her drink, she waited for Erik to start the business part fo the evening. Unfortunately, Lorna decided to cut in first. “Why don't you two hook up? It's been nearly twenty years since mom died. Besides, at least someone in this house would be having sex on a regular basis.” She lowered the glass slowly, casting a sideways glance at her "niece." Of all the possible suggestions for the girl to give, that had been the last one she'd expected. Judging by the various reactions around the table, she wasn't the only one caught completely off guard.
Clearing her throat, she turned to Erik again, noting his obvious displeasure with the statement. Guessing that it had more to do with the mention of his wife than with the mention of her, she ignored it. He tended to get that way about both of his deceased wives. If she'd been a litle more suicidal, she probably would have suggested that he get therapy quite some time ago. Her position was far too comfortable, though. There wasn't nearly as much freedom in it as she would have liked, but it was a steady job. Since the war, things had quieted down a great deal, but she'd accepted that. She no longer had an excuse to actually end someone else's life. Most people were completely compliant with the guard. Like Magik had said earlier, there really was no threat.
Someone needs to go inspect the Xavier Institute, Raven," She turned to look at him, nodded solemnly. That could easily be handed off to one of her Agents. It was a simple task, going in and staying a few days, checking out the operation... there were a few schools that Magneto had endorsed, and it was important to make sure that each of them remained a good, solid institution. "I don't expect to find anything amiss, Summers is possibly the most organized person I have ever met, but it has been awhile since anyone has inspected the Xavier Institute." She nodded again, trying to remember exactly when the last inspection had been. At least a year. Most schools had inspections a lot more frequently, but the Xavier Institute was a lot closer to them all. One of her children had studied there, and Charles Xavier himself had always been held in the highest regard by both families. She didn't know him as well as Erik did, but she knew enough to know that even if he was a man whose ideals were different than hers, he was still a man who deserved the utmost respect. "Perhaps you'd enjoy a trip to your alma mater, Anna-Marie? It has been quite a few years since you've seen Charles' other students, hasn't it?"
She glanced over at Rogue, raising an eyebrow. The chance for the girl to go out and do the inspections had been given to her each and every time, but she'd always turned it down. Raven had no idea why, and she didn't bother to ask. That was her business. If she wanted to talk about it, she would have. God knows she ran her mouth off about that stupid doll enough. If something about the place truly bothered her, Raven would have known.

As she was sitting there trying to pretend that Anna-Marie wasn't next to her, Lorna felt something soft and warm brush up against her ankle and her eyes immediately darted over to Kurt. He was the only one who could feel like that and she could just imagine his tail down there. It was a bit strange. Growing up, back when her and Anna were still best friends, they'd had huge crushes on each other's brothers. Pietro had always been too old for Anna, not really noticing her before the huge “breakup” that was their friendship. And Kurt, Lorna wasn't sure whatever happened to her crush on him, only that once things went sour with Anna, she rarely saw him. That began the “wild” stage of her life. Bringing her thoughts out, she caught Kurt's eyes, well as much as one can look into an endless pool of yellow, and grinned.
After her little pronouncement that her father and Aunt Raven should get together, everyone acted like she had suggested they wage war on someone. Her sister and brother looked like they were about to spew their drinks at her, Anna-Marie smirked although it hadn't come out quite how she meant it, Kurt tried to cover up his thoughts on the matter, Raven didn't even acknowledge her and her father thought that by giving her one of his infamous glares, she would feel chastised. It's hard to feel chastised when she had craved those steely glares half her life. Under her breath, she muttered, “It was only a suggestion.”
Magnus launched directly into his business and while he, Raven and Anna were busy, Lorna's eyes wandered back over to Kurt. That touch against her ankle had been nice. Very, very nice. She wondered what it would be like to hold him close to her, skin to skin, so to speak, but knew he was too sweet and too busy to think about her in that aspect. As her friend Danni was fond of saying, “One of the few good ones that got away.” And in Lorna's case, they were very, very few indeed.
However, Kurt had certainly started something and if Lorna was anything, it was a risk taker. Besides, two could play at this flirting game. Giving the furry blue demon a sweet smile, her eyes sparked a brighter green for just a second and Lorna sent a small, teasing, tickling charge of electricity through Kurt's body. Nothing that would harm him, no, this was meant to excite and it was something she had learned long ago that usually had a very positive effect on whomever she was involved with.

Holding her napkin to her face, she swallowed a few times, hoping that the wine would decide to go down the way it had tried to climb up. It definitely wasn't proper etiquette to shoot alcoholic beverages from one's nose. Then again, neither was suggesting what Lorna had suggested. At least not at the dinner table. She sort of lost interest as soon as they began to talk about business. She couldn't care less about what the Red Guard was up to, as long as they were doing what her father asked of them. Her attention drifted back to her sister, still musing over what she'd said. Wow, that girl had nerve. Chuckling, she finally got her nose to stop burning and took another sip of her drink, looking over at Pietro and laughing again. She shook her head and calmed down, knowing full well that Lorna was one of the few people who could get away with saying something like that. At least it was funny. Even if Father and Aunt Raven didn't see it as so, it was pretty damn amusing.
She glanced at Lorna, wondering idly why she suddenly had a stupid grin on her face. She followed her line of sight and tried not to laugh again as her sister flirted shamelessly with Kurt. While Anna was sitting right next to her, nonetheless. It seemed as if Lorna had a death wish. She'd tried her luck with Father, and now she was moving on to the next person. Who just so happened to be the only one in the room who would probably actually attempt it.
Nudging Pietro, she nodded silently toward their sister, hoping that he'd pick up on what was happening. She raised an eyebrow and smiled, nearly going into another fit of laughter as she watched Pietro.

Pietro was greatly relieved when Father broke the extremely awkward silence by bringing up business. This was one time when he didn't mind business over a meal. Most times he was just annoyed, but this was good. Anything to get the awful mental pictures out of his head. Then Wanda nudged him, and he looked at her, confused for a moment. He followed her gaze to Lorna, who was apparently flirting with Kurt.
Pietro closed his eyes, counted to ten in Hebrew, and re opened them. He took a deep breath, and thought about it. At least it was Kurt, and not some random jerk in a club. And he knew Kurt, and he was a good guy. Plus, Kurt knew that if he hurt Lorna in any way, at all, he'd be dead.

"Someone needs to go inspect the Xavier Institute, Raven. I don't expect to find anything amiss, Summers is possibly the most organized person I have ever met, but it has been awhile since anyone has inspected the Xavier Institute." Summers? So that meant that at least Scott was still alive. Or a relative of Scott. Or something. But there was a little bit of hope there. Maybe the others were okay, too. Jean, Betsy, Ororo, Sean... It would be nice to see them again. She could volunteer for it this time around.
"Perhaps you'd enjoy a trip to your alma mater, Anna-Marie? It has been quite a few years since you've seen Charles' other students, hasn't it?" Students. Plural. So there were more than one. Well, that closed the deal. Looking up, she nodded. "Yeah. Ah think Ah'd like that."
And that was that. She'd made up her mind, and she wasn't going to change it. Looking over at Kurt, she tried to gauge his reaction and caught a certain look. Directed at Lorna. Oh, hell no. Whipping her head back to Magneto, she raised an eyebrow. "When do Ah need to leave?" The sooner, the better. Especially if Princess was going to hit on her brother. Hell, she'd leave right away just to get away from that. Run back to the barracks, pack, and hop on the next transport to the States. Anything to get away from what was happening right next to her.

Kurt dropped his napkin into his lap and held up his glass to be refilled by one of the ever-present servants. He had a feeling his blood alcohol level simply wasn't high enough yet, despite his earlier aborted attempt at socialization with Beaubier and the Russian femme fatale with the face right out of a Botticelli. He watched Uncle Erik turn a decidedly unamused Look (complete with parental capitalization) on his youngest.
Who was shameless, of course.
Keeping his eyes focused on Lorna, he managed to softly smile his way through Magneto's bit of business. Inspecting the Xavier Institute... He spared a look for Rogue then and took another sip of wine, shoving down the rising pang that coiled in his gut. The Xavier Institute...a place of learning. Teaching young mutants. He hadn't ever considered it before, but the idea appealed. It had to be better than...this. He might even be able to look at himself in the mirror with the wave of guilt and disgust.
He looked up to a flash of cyan in Lorna's eyes, what was she--?
Oh Holy God.
It raced through him like a ribbon of liquid sugar, setting his fur up as gooseflesh raced over his skin, before settling in his belly, replacing the former knot with a completely different sort of tension. He stared at Lorna with hooded eyes, letting out his breath in a soft, low hiss. Instinctively, the spade of his tail jerked and slid forward to coil around her ankle. What the hell was that? Did her father know what his daughter knew how to do? Or--more worrisome, considering his temper--her brother.
He shifted in his seat and tried to ignore that the silk of his shirt suddenly adhered to his torso like a body stocking, crackling with the build up of some truly impressive static cling. He arched an eyebrow at the Princess. So, she wanted to play a little chicken, did she?
Smiling just a little darker--and checking to make sure no one else noticed--he furled the spade of his tail tightly into a little tube of silken skin stretched taut over muscle and sent it traveling up her leg to trace the contour of her calf.
Oh God, he was going to end up getting killed in extremely nasty ways.

The table's inhabitants had recovered from Lorna's out-of-line question, and had gotten down to either discussing business or the meal in front of them. Erik thought idly that the next time he wanted to discuss business with Mystique, they would leave the children at home.
Raven looked over at her daughter at his suggestion, leaving the decision to Rogue. Anna-Marie thought about it for a moment, then nodded. "Yeah. Ah think Ah'd like that," she agreed. "When do Ah need to leave?"
Magneto raised one silver eyebrow at Anna-Marie's eagerness to depart. He couldn't believe sitting next to Lorna was making her that uncomfortable. "Whenever you wish," he told her with a shrug. "Agent Rasputin could transport you there nearly instantaneously. So there is no rush."
Magnus frowned as he swore he felt a twinge of electricity from Lorna's direction. He glanced at her absently, seeing that she held a piece of silverware in her hand. She was likely just showing off. His eyes traveled to his older children. Wanda was smirking at Pietro, who seemed to be glaring at Lorna. Erik shook his head, not even wanting to know what his youngest child was up to.
At Pietro's side, he noticed Kurt shifting in his seat. He could feel the static charge the young man had built up buzzing at his senses. He was hardly surprised though. Silk rubbing against fine fur would quickly build up a charge. He would have thought since the boy had possessed fur all of his life, he would know this. The static was annoying, so Magneto banished it with a mere thought.
He opened another folder and hand it to Mystique. "This one may be more of job for Tom, but the Red Guard would be useful for guarding the perimeter or aiding in dealing with unforeseen difficulties," he told her.
In the folder were fly over photos of a demolished farmhouse. Closer up shots reveled something underneath the farmhouse. Ground shot of the wrecked farmhouse showed what could be a lab. "SHIELD agents were sent in to guard the perimeter and keep civilians out. I'll call Tom and have him gather his team and head out there. If you'd like to investigate it yourself, you're welcome to. Just inform me if you find anything of interest."
Erik started neatly cutting into his salmon, allowing Raven to peruse the file. "In Nebraska of all places. Fairly brave of this individual, considering there is a SHIELD base less than twenty miles from the location. That is where the photos came from."

She couldn't help but catch the looks that were being passed between Kurt and Lorna. Training her eyes on her son, she glared, trying to communicate to him just how much pain he would be in if he actually tried anything with Lorna. She personally wouldn't have a problem with it (after all, Lorna had become a quite attractive young woman and Kurt could do much worse), but Lorna's entire family would most likely set out to lynch him. And that was not something that she wanted to see happen.
She wasn't especially surprised at Rogue's eagerness to leave. It wouldn't surprise her in the least if the girl stood up and left in the middle of dinner. It was a childish stubbornness that she knew far too well. Rogue would probably rather leave than have to witness Lorna and Kurt flirting with each other. As long as things remained civil at the table, Mystique was perfectly fine with it.
"This one may be more of job for Tom, but the Red Guard would be useful for guarding the perimeter or aiding in dealing with unforeseen difficulties," She looked back at Erik, raising an eyebrow as she looked through the photos. At first, they were relatively tame, just a demolished farmhouse or something, but then they started showing the remains of what seemed to be a laboratory. She looked up again, question on the tip of her tongue. "SHIELD agents were sent in to guard the perimeter and keep civilians out. I'll call Tom and have him gather his team and head out there. If you'd like to investigate it yourself, you're welcome to. Just inform me if you find anything of interest." She nodded. Definitely. She missed the days of being able to really get her hands dirty, and God knew the Guard could use the practice. Glancing through the file, she frowned. There was no paper trail from the lab, nothing to tie it to anything or anyone.
"Where...?" "In Nebraska of all places. Fairly brave of this individual, considering there is a SHIELD base less than twenty miles from the location. That is where the photos came from." Nebraska. She cracked a small smile. "There was a time where I wasn't allowed in the state of Nebraska." The smile slowly turned into a grin as she remembered exactly why. Nodding at Erik, she closed the folder. The job was fairly straightforward. Go in, find out what was happening, locate the individual responsible, and hand him or her over to Tom's group for interrogation. The Guard unfortunately had to keep everything on the up and up, but the Marauders, they were an entirely different story.
Sliding the folder to the side, she began to eat. After a few bites, she took a drink and addressed Erik again. "Any other impending threats to the commonwealth?"

Lorna had to hold in her grin as Anna-Marie accepted the assignment overseas. Maybe her father thought that the other woman was an annoyance as well and this was his way of getting rid of her. Most likely that wasn't the case but it didn't matter to Lorna. With Anna-Marie gone, perhaps her and Kurt could get “reacquainted” again. Probably not but it was certainly fun to think about. Pietro and Wanda were looking at her but Lorna never took her eyes off Kurt.
His reaction was instantaneous and better then she had hoped for. The look he sent her was one she had seen before in others and Lorna knew that no matter how incredibly inappropriate it had been, it was completely worth it. His tail fur stiffened then the spade curled around her ankle tightly, essentially holding her there. Lorna couldn't have moved if she'd wanted to. She could feel the charge that had built up in his body and Kurt let out a low hiss. Oh, god, just his reaction alone would be worth anything Anna-Marie would do to her for flirting with him.
"When do Ah need to leave?" Anna-Marie rushed and Lorna practically smirked. She was quite aware of what was going on next to her, apparently. As much fun as Lorna was having, she had to admit that while this started out as a way to get back at the other woman, it was quickly turning into something that she just wanted to do. Even if Anna hadn't been in the room, Lorna had no doubt she'd be flirting with the velvety demon.
Lorna felt her father remove the charge from Kurt, he was the only other one in the room who could have done it, and at that time, Kurt's tail gradually slid up her ankle and around her calf. Her eyes grew wide then settled into a satisfied smile as her lips curled upwards slightly. It appeared he most definitely wanted to keep this game up. The plate in front of her had barely been touched and Lorna gently set her fork down before lifting her brandy glass and finishing off the remains. Immediately, a servant refilled it for her and as she took a sip of the freshly poured liquid, she narrowed her eyes just slightly and sent a small, localized charge along his spine. Seconds later, she dispelled the charge as to not repeat the static cling side effect that fur and silk had when mixed with electricity.
Lorna never once took her eyes off of Kurt and she completely tuned out the conversation about an exploding lab in the States somewhere. A servant came by and asked if she was finished with her meal and at Lorna's nod, the plate was removed and a new fork was placed in front of her for dessert. If nothing else, dinner was flying by at a decent rate. It was much more then she had hoped for when they first started this meal. With his tail still coiled around her calf, Lorna slipped off her sandal and slightly lifted her other leg and rubbed the outside of his tail with her other calf.
Giving him a look that said, “Your move, will you stop or up the stakes?”, Lorna took another sip of the brandy as the liquid finally started to make it through her natural tolerance for alcohol.

She couldn't help but smile at Pietro's reaction. He was far too over protective of Lorna, and he was just too easy to get riled up. It was fun. As the business end of the dinner was discussed, she ate, not really paying too much attention to what was being discussed. The dinner itself was delicious, and she reminded herself to go back to the kitchen and thank them personally later. She never really liked the whole servants waiting on her hand and foot aspect of being part of the royal family, but she'd accepted it and always tried to make sure that the servants knew that she was incredibly grateful.
As much as she tried to concentrate, she kept on getting distracted by Lorna and Kirt's outright flirting. Someone had to do something before they started getting too into it and either Pietro or Anna decided to put a stop to it. Acting as if she had dropped her napkin, she reached under the table and fired a small hex bolt at Lorna, diverting some of the energy directed at Kurt back on Lorna herself. Clearing her throat, she raised an eyebrow at her sister. Kurt was cute, but was their game really worth getting the crap beat out of one of them?
Finishing her meal, she stood up to take care of the dirty dish but was almost immediately ambushed by one of the servants who took the plate form her before she could argue. Sighing, she sat down again and downed the rest of her drink.
