Pietro was not sure what Lorna was up to. But he didn't like it, not one bit. His littlest sister was so spoiled and if she set her heart on Kurt . . . .things could get very ugly. Kurt was a good friend, and he'd hate to have to hurt him.
Pietro ignored the business Father and Raven were discussing, it held very little interest for him. He saw Raven give Kurt a look, one similar to the glare Father had given Lorna. This dinner was turning out to be a bit insane. Anna sounded like she was ready to go on the assignment right now, and Pietro had an idea as to why. He recognized the expression on Lorna's face. It was downright disturbing, but what could he do about it? Nothing yet. He just had to watch and wait.
Pietro finished with his meal, and a servant took the plate. He nodded his thanks, but didn't say anything. He rarely spoke to the various servants around the palace, unless he was giving orders. He just took another drink of wine, observing Lorna and Kurt carefully. He'd definitely have to keep an eye on them.

If she had to watch any more of it, she was going to throw up. Right then, right there. Luckily, dinner had been served during the whole thing, and Magneto said that she could leave whenever she wanted to. Which meant skipping dessert. She fully intended on running off to find Illyana as soon as she finished her dinner. And maybe if she concentrated on what Uncle Erik and Raven were discussing... No, that didn't help the fact that her brother, who was supposed to be on her side, was flirting with Lorna. Lorna Dane Lensherr, ex best friend and doll stealer extraordinaire.
Dum dum dum... something about Nebraska, Lorna not playing footsies (or tailsies) with Kurt... As people started to finish their meals, she breathed a sigh of relief. The servant collected her plate, and she waved away the offer for dessert, wiping her mouth and standing, shooting a look at Lorna. "If y'all will excuse me, dinner was lovely, but Ah have to go before Ah do something unladylike."
Nodding, she left the dining room and stopped in the bathroom to change back into her uniform and packing before heading out to find Illyana.

He tried to pay attention to what his mother and Lord Magnus were discussing, he really did. He was a member of the Red Guard, after all, and--ooohholygodwhatWASshedoingtohim--and if Kurt hadn't had all those years of training under the strict guide of his mother, he would have bitten a hearty chunk right out of the crystal wine goblet he had frozen to his lips. He was barely aware of Rogue's sudden departure and ignorant of the looks being tossed around by the other diners, his world narrowed to the green-haired vixen across the table from him.
Lorna apparently had a death-wish for two and wanted to up the stakes in their little dangerous game of Royal Family Dinner Chicken.
Well, if she wanted to throw down the gauntlet, it was his honour to bloody well snatch it up.
He set his glass down.
Game on.
Peering at her through the loose strands of his blue-black bangs that hung in his face, he narrowed his eyes and delicately licked the clinging droplets of wine that clung to his bottom lip, as one of fingers lazily traced the rim of the glass.
His tip of his tail gently crept higher to tease the tender skin behind her knee, weaving in small circles to mirror the motion of his finger on the wineglass. His right foot, bare as always, reached out to hook her now naked ankle...his eyes locked to hers.
Check.

"There was a time where I wasn't allowed in the state of Nebraska." Raven's smile turned into a nostalgic smirk, causing Magnus to chuckle and shake his head.
"Somehow, I have a feeling that has an interesting story behind it," he mused aloud. Of course, in his brief time as a terrorist before the Mutant-Human War, there were several countries he was wanted for various crimes for and had to tread lightly in. But it had been worth it, now that he and his followers had made the world a safer place for their race.
Erik could feel electricity buzzing again, and shook his head. He knew Lorna was using her powers, but why, he had no clue. Until he thought of the charge Kurt had suddenly developed.
Lovely, his daughter was playing with Nightcrawler.
He brushed aside the initial wave overprotectiveness that normally came with his daughters showing an interest in anyone. Kurt was a decent man, a skilled member of the elite Red Guard, and well aware of the slow, painful demise he would face if he harmed Magneto's little princess in any way.
If Magnus beat Pietro to him.
Leaving the children to their flirtation, Erik was surprised when Annie-Marie eschewed dessert for the not terribly pressing mission he'd given her. "If y'all will excuse me, dinner was lovely, but Ah have to go before Ah do something unladylike." Erik didn't even get a chance to rise halfway from his chair before she glared at Lorna and left the room.
Magnus resettled himself, throwing Mystique a look that clearly said 'Next time, we'll leave the children at home.' He took a few bites of his dessert as Raven posed her next question.
"Any other impending threats to the commonwealth?"
Magneto shook his head. "Not that have been brought to my attention," he replied. "I am vastly curious to find out how much of one this particular laboratory was. From what the photographs could show, there were bits of some very interesting technology, but I could not certain."
"But there is no need to go rushing off this instant," he added after a moment, with a slight grin. "It will at least wait until after dessert."

"Somehow, I have a feeling that has an interesting story behind it." She shrugged, still smiling. Of course, it did. But dinner was probably not the best time to talk about things like that. Especially when she wasn't sure whether any of the Lensherr children had weak stomachs. It seemed like most of them were at least able to put away a fair amount of food. Except for Lorna, who seemed to not be hungry at all. Or at least not for the food that was being set before them.
"If y'all will excuse me, dinner was lovely, but Ah have to go before Ah do something unladylike." She looked up as Rogue semi-excused herself from the table, a slight smile playing on her face. As much as the girl tried to act like she was the winner for backing away before doing something, Lorna had clearly come out of the encounter the victor, and without even trying. Unless, of course, the flirting with Kurt was just to piss off Anna Marie, in which case Lorna simply knew her ex-best friend better than anyone thought.
As dessert was served, she caught Erik's look and nodded, rolling her eyes. There was definitely a time and a place for all of the insanity going on, and the dinner table was not it. . "I am vastly curious to find out how much of one this particular laboratory was. From what the photographs could show, there were bits of some very interesting technology, but I could not certain." She nodded as she took a forkful of dessert. They could handle that quite easily. "But there is no need to go rushing off this instant. It will at least wait until after dessert."
Smiling, she shook her head. "Damn. There go my plans." Sipping her drink, a sudden idea hit her. "Perhaps we can bring the Hellions along on this? It looks fairly routine, and they could use the field experience."

As Rogue stood up to leave, rather abruptly which was quite rude in Lorna's opinion, she had to hold back a victory grin. She honestly hadn't started out flirting with Kurt to get on Anna's nerves, well, not completely anyway, but it certainly had been a very nice benefit. Lorna highly doubted that she would have not done the same thing if Anna hadn't been around. Kurt, as much fun as he had been when they were children, had grown up quite well. Quite well, indeed and if anyone expected her to not notice that just because the men in her family were way too overprotective at times, then they really didn't know her all that well. At least they'd behaved so far although Pietro kept shooting her dirty looks.
Anna left and Wanda must have decided she was bored because she “dropped” her napkin, something Wanda never does, and the small surge of electricity that Lorna sent to Kurt was split in two. The second half diverted itself back to her, absorbing harmlessly into her body and Lorna's focus shifted briefly from Kurt to her sister. Giving her a look that asked her not to interfere, Kurt caught her attention again as he set his wine glass down, licked a droplet of wine off his lip and snaked his tail higher on her leg. He began to trace small circles along the sensitive skin behind her knee and it was Lorna's turn to swallow hard and try to keep a straight face.
That felt.....absolutely heavenly. The gentle movement mixed with the velvety softness of his fur felt amazing against her skin, even better then she had imagined it would. As his tail sent shivers of pleasure along her body, his other foot reached out to grab her bare one. He had her completely locked there and she couldn't leave even if she wanted to. The look Kurt gave her through his long bangs was priceless. The ball was once again back in her court.
It was evening in Genosha and the air outside, while still warm, was by no means stifling. There was a gentle summer breeze and with but a thought, Lorna looked over to the doors that led into the garden and opened them up. The screens would keep any unwanted insects out while allowing the pleasant breeze through. The scent of jasmine and roses could be detected from the garden and added a certain ambiance to the dining room. Why the doors hadn't been opened earlier was beyond her. It was no secret that when she did eat dinner here with her family that she liked having a full view of the garden.
That done, Lorna turned her attention back to the handsome man sitting across from her. Since he seemed to have a fascination with her feet and legs, Lorna decided to make the most of that. Hoping her sister got the message, she concentrated a tiny charge starting at his toes and working up his calf to the back of his knee. Just because she didn't have a tail didn't mean she couldn't also play this game. Dismissing the charge once it had completed its journey, Lorna took a bite of the cheesecake that had been placed before her and continued to watch Kurt.

She waved goodbye as Rogue made her rather hasty exit, but there was a good chance that the girl didn't see her. No matter. There was still more than enough in the room itself to entertain her. Like the flirting. Not exactly the kind of entertainment that was good for the dinner table. Wll, the family dinner table, at least. Lorna apparently disagreed wholeheartedly, and she shot Wanda a look that was nothing short of venemous.
Of course, reacting too actively to her sister's glare would disrupt the dinner even further. And Wanda had no intention of doing anything like that. She'd have to be crazy to cause too much chaos right in the middle of the palace. And crazy, she was not. Instead of starting something, she simply smiled at her sister and turned to Pietro, whispering into his ear, "So does shopping still look like a bad idea? We could have eaten somewhere less flirty."
Smiling appreciatively as dessert was laid out, she nodded at Pietro. Chances were, he'd rather be anywhere than there, having to watch Kurt and Lorna undress each other with their eyes. And maybe their feet, she didn't dare look under the table. No, that would probably create the kind of mental scarring that only decades of therapy could cure. Or a good mind wipe. Maybe Emma Frost would be up for the job... No, better not to risk it.

Pietro watched, shaking his head slightly as Anna left the dining room like her pants were on fire. He rolled his eyes, women, he would never understand them. Even growing up with a twin sister did not help him. They were . . . just so illogical. The whole lot of them. Of course, voicing that opinion would be his last words on this earth. He would never say what he was thinking right then. Thank all the gods none of the dinner party were telepathic.
Dessert was brought out, and Pietro was glad to see it. Dinner would be over soon. Then he could go somewhere, and pretend Lorna was not flirting with Kurt. He didn't miss the exchange of glances between Lorna and Wanda, but wasn't quite sure what was going on. And he really didn't want to know either. Then Wanda leaned over to whisper to him,
"So does shopping still look like a bad idea? We could have eaten somewhere less flirty."
Pietro looked at Lorna and Kurt, then at Wanda. She had a really good point. Shopping would have been much less painful than this. He finished his dessert, and whispered back to her,
“Shopping would have been much better. Hell, I would have helped you find Bennet's pink speedo rather than sit through this dinner.”

God in Heaven, he was going to have a stroke. He was going to have a stroke and expire right at the table; pitching face first into his creme brulee amid the royal family ...and 'stroke' was exactly the wrong word to be traipsing along his inner dialogue.
It was all he could do to stifle a whimper as Lorna refocused her attention on his legs, her slim foot stroking--there was that terrible word again--the back of his knee. He was about to thank God that he had opted to wear relatively sturdy material-ed trousers when her toes began to tingle.
Lorna really was beautiful to him. Not just because of her looks, but her playful and irreverent manner and sense of whimsy that plucked at something inside him.
Despite the lack of telepaths at dinner, Kurt worked very, very hard to not imagine all that silky green hair fanned out on a satin pillowcase as he let his tail twine around her thigh.
He failed.
Something--something--the others were talking. Words buzzed by like distant insects.
Kurt allowed a nasty little smile, a smile secret and just for her, to curve the edges of his mouth. He picked up his spoon and dipped it into his dessert, bringing the dollop of custard to his lips, where he nibbled and licked at it with enough discreet sin to keep him in penance for weeks.

Smiling, [Raven] shook her head. "Damn. There go my plans." Sipping her drink, a sudden idea hit her. "Perhaps we can bring the Hellions along on this? It looks fairly routine, and they could use the field experience."
Erik laughed lightly at Mystique quip, then nodded. "Excellent idea, Raven," he agreed. He thought to continue their chat over drinks,as the lab was secured and honestly, it'd had been days since the initial explosion. He was curious about this year's group of students, but he was not going to sit here and watch his youngest child flirt with Kurt. He had less desire to delve in that portion of Lorna's life than he did to have her make suggestions about his love life.
And the twins were little better, glaring at their sister and whispering back and forth like two jealous spinster aunts. Magnus rose from his chair when Mystique had finished her dessert, offering her his arm. "We can adjourn to my office to call Tom and discuss the mission in greater depth, if you would like, my dear," he invited. "I am also curious about this year's group of Hellions."
"Besides, I do believe we're boring our children." His steely blue gaze fell on the four young people around the table. Magneto made a mental note to never attempt to discuss business at a dinner with their children. "They can find other ways to entertain themselves in our absence, I am certain," he added dryly, his eyes settling on each of his children in turn.
Then Erik's attention fell on Kurt, and shifted back to his only son. "So long as they can play nicely together." His voice kept the dry tone.
"Shall we, my dear?" he suggested to Mystique, offering the room's inhabitants a brief nod.

"Excellent idea, Raven." She bowed her head and made a mental note to call Emma and have her get the kids ready for their little field trip. From what she'd seen of the Hellions' training, most of them were coming along nicely. She hadn't seen them work in the field recently, though, and it was always a good idea to see how they react in actual situations.
She finished her dessert, trying to avoid looking at the spectacle that Kurt and Lorna were making. If the boy wanted to sign his own death warrant, that was his business. She only hoped that he realized exactly what the possible consequences of his actions were. "We can adjourn to my office to call Tom and discuss the mission in greater depth, if you would like, my dear. I am also curious about this year's group of Hellions."
She also stood, nodding as she sat her napkin down atop her plate. "That sounds like an excellent idea." Moving away from the table, she followed Erik's glare as it settled upon the children. "Besides, I do believe we're boring our children."
She looked at the table, a hint of amusement visible on her face. Not that she enjoyed the fact that her son was getting closer and closer to certain death. "They can find other ways to entertain themselves in our absence, I am certain."
She nodded once. "They seem to be doing a good job of it while we're here, I can only imagine what fun they'll have when we leave." She put her hand heavily on Kurt's shoulder, in a last ditch attempt to get him to wake up and realize that he was most likely going to be maimed in some way once Pietro had an opening. "So long as they can play nicely together."
She looked over at Magneto, smiling. He didn't honestly expect that to happen, did he? No matter. If Pietro killed Kurt, Pietro killed Kurt. Sure, she might have to then kill Pietro which would start a whole chain of bloody nastiness, but she couldn't honestly say that Kurt didn't have fair warning. "Shall we, my dear?"
She nodded as he headed toward the door, casting one last glance at the table. "If you'll excuse us, we're off to have that torrid affair that Lorna was speaking so fondly of."

Her brother and sister were whispering something to each other but Lorna honestly couldn't care less what it was. Even when she caught something about Bennet in a Speedo. That was something she was still going to have to work on with her personal body guard. The man couldn't be completely serious all the time. Then again, this was Exodus she was thinking about. He was the epitome of serious.
Unlike the wonderful blue angel before her. Oh, god, what she would give to be a telepath at this very moment. His face barely betrayed his emotions yet his tail, which was still creeping higher on her leg, tightened with each tease of electricity she generated through him. It was honestly all the encouragement she needed. She didn't care that her brother was about to have a cow or that her father was looking at her disapprovingly. She'll be contrite later but right now, she was too caught up in what was going on under the table to care.
Kurt's silky tail edged higher on her leg, wrapping itself around her thigh and Lorna automatically stretched her leg a bit farther to make it easier for him to reach that sensitive area of her leg. Then she watched with a wistful expression as he spooned a bit of custard to his lips and licked it off the spoon. The look on his face was enough to make her sigh if she weren't trying to hold some semblance of decency. Why she even tried was beyond her. A gentle breeze blew in from the open doorway and fanned Lorna's heated body.
Her father chose that time to excuse himself, stating, "We can adjourn to my office to call Tom and discuss the mission in greater depth, if you would like, my dear. I am also curious about this year's group of Hellions. Besides, I do believe we're boring our children. They can find other ways to entertain themselves in our absence, I am certain.” He looked at each of them as he spoke and Lorna tore her gaze away from Kurt long enough to return her father's glance.
Aunt Raven almost looked amused as she added, "They seem to be doing a good job of it while we're here, I can only imagine what fun they'll have when we leave." She made a point of placing her hand on Kurt's shoulder at that moment. This was why she didn't bring dates home. Between her brother and her father, she was never going to find anyone to spend any personal time with.
"So long as they can play nicely together. Shall we, my dear?" her father added after a hard look at Pietro. Then Father and Aunt Raven quit the dining room, leaving just the four of them.
After a look at Pietro that said, “You interfere and I'll see if you are able to outrun lightning”, Lorna turned her attention back to Kurt. “It is a beautiful evening out and the garden is in full bloom. Would you like to take a walk with me?” she asked the man who had made this dinner so much more entertaining then she had thought it would be.

“Shopping would have been much better. Hell, I would have helped you find Bennet's pink speedo rather than sit through this dinner.” She grinned. Yeah, it was times like this that she had some kind of precognative abilities. Because avoiding the discomfort that had been the dinner would have been an amazingly great idea.
As their parents excused themselves from the table, she glanced at Pietro, ready to spring into action in case he decided to try something. Not that she'd be fast enough to have any effect, but it was the thought that counted, right? As Lorna glared at Pietro, clearly warning him, she grinned outright. Despite the fact that Kurt and Lorna seemed to be doing a hell of a job at angering her brother to the point of homicidal tendencies, it was all pretty funny.
There they were, the Royal Family and one of the Red Guard. And they were acting like a bunch of teenagers. “It is a beautiful evening out and the garden is in full bloom. Would you like to take a walk with me?”
That was the breaking point. Not able to hold it in any longer, Wanda cracked up. Maybe it wasn't nearly as funny as she'd thought it was, but that mattered not. Because it was hilarious to her. Let them think she was nuts. The idea of little Darkholme-Lensherr babies hopping around the palace was enough to send her into another, slightly more muted fit of hysterics. What would that kid even look like? Maybe she was going too far with it now. Coughing, she composed herself as she wiped the tears from her eyes. Looking up at Lorna and Kurt, she shook her head, still trying to hold back more laughter. "Oh, God... could you two be a little more obvious, please? I don't think we got the message."

Pietro managed not to flinch at the look Lorna gave him. He couldn't blame father and Aunt Raven for leaving. This dinner had been interesting to say the very least. Then Lorna spoke up to Kurt,
“It is a beautiful evening out and the garden is in full bloom. Would you like to take a walk with me?” That did it. Wanda absolutely lost it. She started to laugh, and Pietro could not help but join her. The laughter was infectious. She managed to get out,
"Oh, God... could you two be a little more obvious, please? I don't think we got the message." Pietro laughed even harder at that. He couldn't help it, the absurdity of the entire situation amused him greatly. His best friend growing up and his baby sister. He had not seen that coming, although he should have. He knew how much she loved "petting" Kurt's fuzzy fur, and had ever since she'd known him. Finally the laughter stopped enough for him to give Kurt a stern look and tell him in an undertone.
"You do realize if you hurt her in any way . . . . ." Pietro didn't have to finish the sentence, Kurt would get his meaning. Kurt knew how protective the whole family was. He looked over at Wanda, did she really want to go shopping? He'd risk the hordes of people, just to get away from a little bit. And then Lorna wouldn't whine about them "hovering" over her and her new boy toy.
"Do you want to go shopping, Wanda? Or something else?"

And here Kurt thought dinner at the Palace was going to be dull. He was more surprised that he'd survived his and Lorna's little game with all his major organs intact.
“It is a beautiful evening out and the garden is in full bloom. Would you like to take a walk with me?” Lorna asked and Kurt gave a startled--and delighted--smile, a genuine smile, not part of their little game.
"I'd be honored, Highness." He said, his voice softening with his fondness for her as he stood and walked to her, offering her the crook of his arm...and pointedly ignoring the titters of Pietro and Wanda. Good God, how old were they?
Wanda and Pietro, mostly Wanda, seemed inordinately amused with their antics. Kurt shot a reproachful look at Pietro's not-so-veiled threat of Brotherly Proactive Retribution should Kurt harm one metaphorical cyan hair on Lorna's head. Surely, the speedster knew him better than that. He'd have to be stupid as well as insane to hurt Lorna.
Hurt Lorna?
The mere idea brought a sudden unexpected twinge.
Swallowing his surprise at the surge of sudden emotion, Kurt covered Lorna's hand with his own and--
