I have permission from Magneto's player already; I still require Quicksilver's. Also, I noted a conflicting difference in Magda's exit from the timeline in both bios. I'm following Quicksilver, and 616, and saying that when last seen, Magda was wandering off into the mountains to perish. Without further adieu...
Real Name: Magdaleina "Magda" Lehnsherr
Code Name: None
Affiliation: Currently Unaffiliated (will join Brotherhood at a later date)
General Appearance: Magda stands roughly 5 feet seven inches, is built fairly strongly and very pale. She has auburn hair, longish and barely tameable with how she treats it nowadays, generally kept tied back out of her way in a garbled mix of braids and binding. Her body is heavily scarred -- most of them gotten from a very bad runin with a feral. A majority of them are kept well-hidden, the only ones visible being those on her face. Clawmarks jag across her left cheek, one mark cutting into her lip, which leaves her mouth in a near perpetual snarl. On her right wrist she has a tattoo of a serial number, faded over many years and obscured by further scarring. The scars that she has, particularly those centralized around a joint, give her some trouble from time to time but generally, because of the nature of her powers, she does not tend to notice.
Magda prefers to keep her body fully covered. However, being one who is of a waste not, want not mentality, her clothes are made up of random bits she's picked up in her travels. Right now, her current ensemble is made up of a chain she wears around her neck, which holds her wedding ring; a bra, a tank top, which is mostly torn to shreds around the stomach from random encounters. Strips of cloth taken from various sources are tied about her middle to cover them. In the last few years, she managed to steal a dark flannel shirt; it's quite oversized for her and she's already lost one of the arms, but it keeps her mostly warm. Much in the fashion of the bindings around her stomach, she's similarly covered her one bare arm up to just past the elbow. Her trousers are a mite too big for her, but in good shape. She keeps the ends tucked into her boots so she doesn't trip over them, and they're mostly obscured by the holsters for her guns. To cover all that, she wears a longcoat.
Powers: Magda's body is built to adapt to both her physical and psychological state, and because of this, and because of certain adaptations she has gleaned, she has some further abilities that are a result of this power. See more below.
Extent and weaknesses with powers: (and I realize a long list is coming up; let me indicate that I did my very best to balance the good parts of her powers with the bad parts; she's nearly 100 years old, so there has been time for all this to develop) Her mutant power at its basest level is impossible for her to control at will. Prolonged exposure to specific things will force her to take on certain adaptations permanently -- or until some other adaptation cancels it out. Examples:
-The earliest and most obvious sign of her working powers is that at a young age she felt naturally self-conscious in front of people and feared persecution. So her body gives off an natural phermone that makes people fairly calm around her, or at least lowers hostility, specifically when she gets very nervous. Other situations work in a similar fashion.
-Because she spent several years of her life in a concentration camp, she got used to not eating, forfeitting her share of food often to give to one of her siblings, who was ill at the time of their capture. It took her a couple years with Erik to get back to anything relatively normal. Since leaving her husband, she has fallen back into a similar rut. Nowtimes, she eats at half the pace of normal human beings, and her stomach is so sensitive that she can be made very sick if she eats anything with preservatives in it. (If she tried to change it, it would provided she kept trying to eat more, but she is comfortable leaving things as they are.)
-A desire to remain hidden from the untrustworthy (which is almost everyone, to her) gives her natural mental blocks, ones that cannot be pushed past unless she's in direct eye contact with the one trying. A telepath or one with proficient magnetic powers could not sense her aura unless she was looking at them. A sentinel will not pick up a signal from her at all unless it's programmed to perform a retinal scan. All things considering, she appears dead to most scanners.
-Healing can be a bit of a bother for her if she's injured, because, if she is conscious, unless she is focused on getting better, any maladies she has will not fix. If she is hurt in the heat of battle or what have you, her energy is generally focused on either killing or getting away. Her body can cut off bloodflow to an area that's bleeding for a time, but that hinders her ability to use that limb (if it's a limb that's injured) and were it not for that, she could bleed to death in a fight without even realizing it. This is no healing factor; it is heavily flawed, but when concentrating, she can heal at an accelerated rate (though not as fast as one with a healing factor -- maybe half as fast). In times when she is otherwise incapable of focusing, such as being unconscious, her body will fix whatever injuries of hers are the most dire.
-A keen will to survive has slowed her aging process to a near crawl over the years, and what also came of this was that she carried her last two children by her husband (Pietro and Wanda) for an extremely LONG time before they could actually be born. Even this far into the future, and at this age, she can still get pregnant; however, she only ovulates and has her period maybe once every few years.
-When Magda gave birth to her first child, there were complications during birth that required she be given a blood transfusion. Magneto, being the husband, was the donor. Because she was drugged and barely conscious, and she still needed the blood to survive, her body adapted itself around the genetic makeup in it. This makes her, genetically, nearly identical to Magneto. A test at any point within 10 years of the transfusion would have marked her as his twin sister. At present, however, if they were tested, their apparrant relativity would be very faint. This change also means she has some latent abilities that go in close relation to his. Nothing strong. She can move metal objects up to any weight that she could carry with her own two hands, and she can sense electrical currents and auras (which also means she'll know a mutant when she looks at one.) She has a general idea of the locations of metal objects and traces, though the presence of a large bare sum of it near to her -- such as if she were near a construction site where only the metal beams are set yet -- the general signal she gets is a vibration, or a drone, and at that intensity it gives her momentary headaches. This ability also gives her an edge with her weapons; her aim with metal projectiles is pretty much flawless. She probably could develop her abilities if she actually practiced; however, she only really uses them as she needs them, short of the aura/metal sense, which she can't control. Meeting a mutant with magnetic powers that work on the same frequency as Magneto's is a risk because they can easily cancel out those parts of her abilities.
Further in the manner of Magda's weaknesses -- despite all that is listed, she is still physically weak for a mutant and small to boot. She can still be physically incapacitated or stunned -- fairly easily, in fact, if her opponant is stronger than she is or has the better resources, and in a moment where she is struggling with an individual or many, her injuries tend to go unnoticed and hinder her progress.
Any other adaptations she picks up during circumstance last usually as long as they are needed, and when no longer needed, her body adjusts to get rid of it; if the length of time it remains goes any longer than a few days, the change can tend to be highly disorienting and even painful.
Personality: Magda often cannot be bothered to stay in one place. She gets highly skittish when confined to small or crowded rooms, and she reacts even worse if she's ordered to stay in one place. At times this leaves her making breaks when it would probably be safer to just stay put. When she is out of doors, free and without task or agenda, she is happiest. Being a true romani at heart, Magda's first instinct is to rove, and being a woman, she has a tendancy to latch onto men that are stronger than her. Combined with her powers, that can be dangerous, as she can easily become attatched to people that are very dangerous to her health. These built built dependancies can last for great amounts of time, even with abusive counterparts, and the instinct to remain near to them is often powerful enough to cancel out any thoughts she might have of moving on, even if she might be grossly unhappy. If she is stationary, and seemingly willingly so, it is often for the benefit of someone else.
Magda does not socialize with a lot of people, and is known to avoid looking at anyone when she feels particularly antsy or uncomfortable. Anyone that she trusts, she will meet full gazes with. She's known to come off as fairly cold upon a first meeting, or otherwise a mite wrong in the head, as it can be very obvious when she's trying not to look at or notice someone. She is known to be very practical when she is fully lucid, though she can appear a bit slow when she is communing with someone who speaks a language other than her native tongue. She does not respond quickly to puns and jokes, and is fairly good at killing a mood when she overanalyzes a punchline. Though she is not the most well-learned, however, she doesn't like to be thought of as stupid.
What few relationships she's built over the years are still very precious to her, enough to weigh on her mind whenever she has a moment where she's idle. When the compulsion to walk away comes, however, she is often not really gauging the consequences, and then, when all is said and done, she cannot figure out a way to go back. When confronted with an old face in a bind, she's bound to turn around and watch their back until they're safely on their way again. However, this generally leads to her tendancy to latch onto people she's around for too long.
Character History: Magdaleina was born in the early 30's, somewhere in the Carpathian Mountains, to Lautari gypsies Nanosh and Anya, and she was the youngest of eight children -- four brothers, Milosh, Besnik, Pali, and the eldest Beno, and three sisters, second eldest Tshaya, Keja (Pali's twin sister), and the second youngest, Marona. She is around Magneto's age, probably just slightly younger, and like her husband, was a prisoner in a Death Camp during World War II, where the lot of her family was seperated and slaughtered. The traumas endured there obviously influenced the nature of her powers more than anything, but did not get progressively noticeable, even to her, until years later. With her future husband, Erik Lehnsherr, she escaped Auschwitz, and the two took care of one another, eventually falling in love and marrying. They moved around a great deal, going where work was available for Erik to take. Eventually, they gave birth to their first born child, Anya, named after Magda's mother. There were complications during the birthing process, and Magda required a blood transplant on short notice. Erik was the donor. When Anya was about four, they were settled in the USSR. Erik, wanting to save money to go to school, worked like a dog to support his family. His own powers emerged when his employer cheated him out of a day's pay, and in his anger, a crowbar was thrown across the room. His employer paid him, but later called the Police. Erik returned home to find his house lit aflame. He hurried in and managed to find Magda and fet her out of the house, with the use of his power, but Anya was trapped on the second story. The people that'd gathered around the homestead held him back while she screamed for him from her bedroom window. In his rage, Erik killed every person present that night, and Anya perished in the fire. Magda, horrified by the murders he'd committed, fled from him, only to discover some time later that she was pregnant again.
She bore twins at Mt. Wungadore, and once she was strong enough, she left them with the midwife and fled into the mountains, supposedly to die. It didn't exactly occur because she was too scared to try and kill herself. That failed, she made a point to disappear, but given her bad luck and unstable nature, she landed herself in a mental hospital instead, under the name Leina, which went on to be her alias in later years. Nearly ten years were spent there, and as she came to grips with her mishaps as well as her powers, she was released.
She drifted across Europe and parts of Asia after that, using what few skills she could remember from her childhood to survive and picking up a few new ones along the way, all the while avoiding coming into contact with her husband, though by now she assumes him dead. She has no idea that he is Magneto. In her years alone, she has done a great deal of work, come into contact with many people, and even lived under the care of some in exchange for less-than-orthodox payment. Due to this, she wasn't in a position to remain faithful, and what came of two of these "ventures" were children. Unfortuntely these were both concieved with married men, each belonging to the higher parts of their societies.
Her first child, she never actually got to see or even name, as it was taken from her at birth. The other was taken as well -- by his father and his wife, kept as their own child. Other jobs have taken her to America, where under the alias of Leina she's been in the not-so-good graces of such public presences as Wilson Fisk and Norman Osborne (who supplied her with her signature weapons; for her cooperation she's been given the warranty she needs to replace any weapons lost or damaged free of charge). This has gotten her in and out of some bad scrapes, but she's learned a lot of things key for survival. Needless to say, she's come to develop a certain dislike for rich people.
Sample Post: "Just one, please." Magda offered a handful of change out to the vendor. She knew her accent was thick, and judging by his expression, the fact that she sounded foreign probably didn't help to take his attention far from the barely visible marks on her face, either. Not that the man was much, himself -- or a lot, given his large sweating mass. She tried not to look directly at him, and pretended to be examining his other goods. He shook his head, likely realizing he was staring, and he picked up an apple to hand to her.
"N-No charge, lady," he said. He tried to smile at her, it looked like. If she'd been looking, she might have seen pity in his eyes.
"You are certain?" she pressed, still holding out her closed palm. It shook slightly, eliciting the soft jingle of coins. "I have the money; I would like to pay."
His eye twitched from her face down to her hand, frowning as he raised an eyebrow at her. "Ya sure ya don't wanna save it for somethin' else?"
It was her turn to shake her head, and she attempted a smile as she forced herself to meet gazes with him. The corners of her mouth tugged upwards, and the smallest hint of teeth behind her lips could be shown. The vendor looked at her as though he was not even sure she was capable of it. "I can afford other things. Please, take it."
The vendor sighed, and relenting, he extended his other meaty palm to take the coins she offered, and she finally accepted the piece of fruit with a murmur of thanks.
"Ya have a good day, ma'am," he said. "And take care a' yerself."
Magda rolled the piece of fruit in her hands as she walked away. With a little pressure, she broke the piece of fruit in two and sniffed at the inside delicately. Satisfied, she took a bite; it crunched satisfyingly, its tangy juices rolling onto her tongue, relieving her like water for a dying man in a desert. She passed a homeless man on her way down the street, begging for change, and pausing, she handed him the other half of the apple. He stared at her quizzically a moment before nodding to her, thanking her. He probably only accepted it from her because she looked just as bad as he did.
