Real Name:: Sean Cassidy
Code Name:Banshee
Aliases: None
Affiliation: X-Men, formerly Interpol
Age: 38
Height: 6'
Weight: 170 lbs
Hair Color(s): Reddish-Blonde
Eye Color(s): emerald green
General Appearance: (Min. 100 words) Sean is fairly buit, but not to the point of it being obvious. He looks strong, but not built like a mack truck. Sean's eyes and smile can melt most people's hearts, and his Irish brogue is still strong, sweeps some women off their feet.
He keeps his hair short and neat, and while normally clean shaven, if he's been drinking or out late, he may have some stubble. Sean would not be considered to be in Brad Pitt's ranking with looks, but he is handsome in his own rugged way. When he is very angry or attempting to intimidate, his eyes can pierce people. His eyes can almost be a weapon, especially against someone who isn't overly strong willed.
Known Relatives:
Maeve Rourke (wife-deceased), Thomas Samuel Eamon 'Black Tom' Cassidy (cousin), Theresa Rourke (daughter, doesn't know about her yet)
Powers: He has the ability to produce intense sonic vibrations with his voice, which he can manipulate the intensity and pitch of to produce a variety of effects. His vocal chords, lungs and throat are strengthened to allow him to achieve these effects. He also possesses limited psionic abilities to both protect him from the effects of his sonic abilities and aid him in manipulating them. He has a general resistance to intense sounds and possesses a superhuman level of hearing. His sonic power also allows him the power of flight.
Weaknesses: He is still vulnerable to normal attacks, and psionic attacks. Anything that would hurt a normal person, would hurt him, except for loud noises. There are only two people his powers do not work on; his cousin, Tom Cassidy, and his daughter(which he doesn't know about) Theresa Cassidy
Personality: (minimum 150 words) Sean is a rather friendly and likeable man, caring and compassionate towards his friends. He tends to adopt an almost avuncular attitude to those younger than himself and can be quite protective towards them. He has a surprisingly hearty laugh and a dazzling smile which is quite often displayed. In general he likes to live life to the full and enjoy it's simple pleasures like a good joke and a beer shared with friends. He's a passionate man and is definitely unafraid to show his emotions. At times he does display a hot temper but his anger usually doesn't last for very long. However he is more than capable of controlling his emotions should the need arise.
As a former detective is a cautious man by nature, only very rarely running blindly into a situation. He's more likely to analyse the situation, weigh up the options and decide on a course of action before hand. An intelligent man he is people smart somewhat more than he is book smart, an excellent judge of character and a capable leader when he needs to be. Sean however does prefer to leave this role to others seeing himself more as a mentor or a tactician.
Underneath everything though Sean is a hard-bitten man and one who has seen more than his fair share of tragedy in life. He still feels some grief for Maeve that will probably never abate and nurses a bitter hatred for Black Tom. Though Sean is by no means cruel he can be ruthless. He isn't afraid to do what he has to and that includes killing. He will feel remorse for his actions and carry guilt but he won't let that stop him. Though he is mostly unaware of it at times he does walk close to the edge and it's conceivable that one day he could slip.
Detailed History: (minimum 600 words)Sean was born in the family estate of Cassidy Keep in Ireland, growing up alongside side his rapscallion cousin Thomas. As a teenager he won the inheritance of the family keep and fortune, from Tom on the luck of a single dice roll. He likewise triumphed over Thomas in winning the affections of Maeve Rourke, the woman they both loved. These amongst other events sparked off the mutual emnity that characterises the cousin's relationship to this day. Sean went into college where he earnt his Batchelor's Degree in Science and went on to join Interpol as a detective. He of course kept his mutant powers well hidden and only occasionally making use of them. He rose quickly to the rank of Inspector and married his childhood sweetheart Maeve. Sean believed he had found true and lasting happiness, an assumption that was tragically mistaken.
Sean's Interpol work frequently took him away from home and one particular mission was long term and deep cover. So he was absent when his wife learnt of her pregnancy and gave birth to a daughter Theresa. Tragically Maeve was soon after killed during a terrorist bombing. Black Tom however was close at hand and rescued Theresa, taking her to raise as his own child. Returning from his mission Sean was informed of his wife's death. Upon hearing about her death, he flew into a rage at his cousin, in a conflict that ended up breaking Tom's leg. As he was unaware he had a daughter, he was not told of her suspected death in a bid to spare him further grief. Sean coped badly, throwing himself into his work but later quitting Interpol. He emigrated to America and for a time worked as a policeman in New York.
Sean was still suffering from some depression from losing his wife so tragically, and this did make for a few difficulties with his new career. He stuck with it though, and earned a well deserved reputation as a fair and honest cop. In a city where few cops are respected, Sean did what few police officers do, he showed everyone respect. He never treated a victim, no matter who, like they brought it on themselves, if he ever thought so, no one else ever suspected. From the crazy street people who saw flying saucers(after ingesting mass quantities of alcohol) to the prostitutes that got mugged by a pimp/john, everyone got fair and impartial treatment.
Sean met Charles Xavier during a conflict in New York City. One of Xavier's students was helping a person who had been mugged, and got overwhelmed by gang members. Sean saw the young mutant's power manifest and noticed a gang member pulling a gun on the unsuspecting teen. The teen's name was Katherine (Kitty) Pride. Sean used his billy club on the back of the gang member's head. Sean settled the situation and wrote up the incident as best he could. Sean's supervisor(Don Hieberly), normally an excellent leader, had one big flaw. Don hated "mutie freaks" with a passion(his son was killed by a mutant, accidentally.) When Don found out that Sean had helped a mutant, even a mutant helping a crime victim, Sean found himself out of work. Charles Xavier paid Sean a visit to thank him, found him drunk, and rather morose. Charles, knowing Sean was a mutant, invited him to join the school to gauge his talents. Sean accepted the offer and moved in to the mansion. At this point (in the game) he is about to join the X-Men.
Sample Post: (Minimum 300 words) (Starting right after Sean getting fired at the pd)
Sean left the station, where he had felt almost at home, where he thought he'd found a new family. 'Wrong again, Sean me boyo. Yuir getting too old for this nonsense. A good steady job, and I blew it. No shock there, what haven't I mucked up? Tom, won't talk to me ever again, Maeve. . . I should a protected her, and now, me job. I should a known better, but no, had to be a hero' Sean was so deep in his own self loathing thoughts, he never noticed he was being followed. His thoughts were suddenly rudely interrupted by a blow to the back of the head that nearly had him seeing stars. Sean wheeled around, finding a gang member of the Brood.
"You pig! J-D is in jail cause of you. No one messes with the Brood!" The gang member threw a punch at Sean, which he was easily able to avoid. He reached for his gun, or his mace, and then realized they were back at the station, where he had been forced to leave them. The moment of pause allowed the younger punk to clock him in the face. His reflexes took over, and before the punk knew what hit him, he was on his knees.
"Now hear this, lad; I am not some one to mess with right now! Leave me ALONE!" The gangbanger coughed, and eventually stuttered out,
"Yeah. . fine. . . " Sean gave the younger man a final kick to the ribs, and walked away. He meandered down the streets, face burning and still angry. He found Harry's Tavern and walked in. Half his paycheck later, he stumbled out of the bar, and walked to his small apartment. He fumbled for about ten minutes, trying to put his key in the lock, and finally managed it. He threw himself on the bed and passed out, not knowing anything until the next afternoon.
After one week of drinking all night, and sleeping all day, Sean looked and smelled a mess. He hadn't shaven in that week, and quite obviously had neglected his personal hygiene as well. Until one day, his life changed in an instant. One morning, there was a knock, rather insistently on his door. He looked through the peephole, and saw a bald man in a wheelchair. Thinking the man was a salesman of some sort, Sean was about to go back to bed. Suddenly there was a voice in his brain.
<Hello Sean, My name is Charles Xavier. I am a mutant, like yourself. May I come in?> Sean was so surprised, that he did just that. Charles wheeled himself in and looked at him.
"Well, Sean, it appears I owe you a debt of gratitude. Your assistance to my young student, Katherine, is most appreciated. Katherine also sends her thanks." Charles handed Sean what appeared to be a card. Sean looked at it dumbly, unsure of what to say. Charles didn't seem to be surprised.
"Of course, I also came here with an invitation for you. I am the headmaster of the Xavier Institute, in Westchester, New Jersey. I think we could use your assistance there. As you are currently in need of employment, and I am in desperate need for teachers, I suggest you come back to the school with me. That is of course after you attend to yourself and pack." Sean still looked dumbfounded, like someone had clobbered him over the head with a hammer filled with Silly Putty. Sean managed a nod, and went to clean himself up. Stepping out of the bathroom, in clean clothes and freshly shaven, Sean felt better than he had in weeks. Charles waited patiently while Sean packed, and they left the small apartment, with new horizons in store.
