Amy’s train ride was an uneventful one. The journey time was relatively short thought it still took over an hour and a half to reach her destination as the train seemed to stop at every station it passed. It was early afternoon by the time she reached her destination.
She was relieved when the train finally stopped at her station and quickly shouldered her rather large and heavy bag. If the doors had opened any slower Amy would’ve walked right into them as was her hurry to get off. Following the map she had memorised in her head it didn’t take her long to find the perimeter wall of what the file had called ‘The Xavier Institute for Gifted Children’. She hadn’t questioned at the time, a job was a job and it was paying very well, but she did begin to wonder why someone would want a school watched.
She shrugged it off as she began looking for a suitable place to jump over. She had learned not to question her employers and luckily she wasn’t curious enough to go against this lesson. She found a spot where there was dense tree cover on the other side of the wall. Doing a swift check for anyone watching she placed her bag on the snow covered ground and attached a small wire to a hook on her belt that was securely connected to the rucksack. She then jumped onto the top of the wall feet first and without any loss of balance. She loved the fact she could do this. She had always dared herself to jump over the roof tops of the city’s many tall buildings after she had seen it in a film. She had never gone through with it though she was very close to one time.
Scanning her surroundings through the bare tree branches she felt secure enough to hoist her equipment up to her position before dropping lightly into a small snow drift on the other side. So far she hadn’t even noticed the cold.

Looking amongst the trees it was obvious she was still quite far away from the main house and she would have to remain so as the bare ground did not afford her much cover. Still, she would have to get closer or else her equipment would be of little use.
In terrain such as this her preferred way to travel would be through the branches, but her pack was far too heavy for that so she slowly crunched her way across the soft snow. She was trying to make as little noise as possible as that is what her “training” had taught her to do so, but it was hard when you keep on sinking ankle deep into the ground.
She hadn’t travelled far before she became aware of the fact that she had a very good view of the main building, which meant anyone looking would have a good view of her. She quickly retraced her steps and moved behind a large oak. Looking up she found the branches spread themselves out in a very handy way. So much so she guessed she could set up her base there.
Once again she attached herself to her bag and nimbly jumped up onto the platform where the main boughs of the tree reached out. It was more then suitable for her needs, it was perfect. There were plenty of trees in front of her giving her excellent cover, but also some excellent spying holes.
She brought her equipment up in the fading light and began strapping everything down. Still she wasn’t cold.

For the next half an hour or so she let her survival instincts take over as she set up her base camp. There wasn’t much to do except make sure everything was secure and set up a make shift roof with a special snow camouflage sheet. She found her boots to be slippery on the snowy boughs so she took them off as well as her socks, but only paused for a second to wonder why her feet weren’t cold. She quickly shook it off as she did her coat to improve her mobility.
Settling down on a convenient fork in a branch above the natural platform of the tree, she brought a pair of extremely powerful infra red binoculars up to her eyes and began to scan the building for her target. She knew she would have to move around the grounds to gain a view from all sides, but she would leave that for later when it was dark so she could travel easier.
Apart from what the folder had told her about her target, it hadn’t said much about the actual place she was supposed to looking for her in. It had said that it was a school for the gifted, but what that covered Amy was unsure. Included in the file had been a couple of overhead plans of the building, but really her employer was relying on her skills as a bounty hunter to fill in the blanks. Amy liked the fact that she was trusted, but on a recon job you really need all the information you can get.
Later on when the sun had set Amy was determined to get a proper idea of the layout using her night vision goggles while still looking for her target. But until then she was content to watch the side she could see and wait for nightfall.

Riva had left the rec. room when Melphina had walked out but didn't go anywhere in particular. She had just wandered. Having already wrapped her presents she didn't have much to do. After grabbing a coat and pants she had headed outside. It was a nice day and she wanted to just get a breath of air. There weren't many animals out but she heard some a ways off, just in the periferials of her mind. She walked along the side of the mansion not really going anywhere but decided that maybe under the trees she could sit somwhere not wet and contemplate life. She reached the trees that almost came within touching distance of hte side of the mansion and walked along their fringe. She found one tree that offered some protection and wiped off the ground near it's base. Sighing she sat down only three yard from the oak tree Amy was hiding in, completely unawares.

Amy had already seen the girl approaching and was ready for her. She moved into a comfortable position that she could hold while staying perfectly still and merely watched her with her eyes. As it happened the girl didn’t stay long so she was able to relax after a while.
She still hadn’t seen any sign of her target, but had been able to watch the comings and goings of the mansion very easily. The problem was that she had this niggling feeling in the back of her head that her employer hadn’t told her something which was probably very important. She had noticed that was a whole range of ages inside the building, making her unsure about the purpose of the place. Perhaps it was an orphanage, or a sanctuary of some sort?
Her curiosity didn’t extend much further then that though as her training had taught her not to.

Katherine Pryde walked outside in her snowjacket and sighed. Things were so quiet now, she was glad. There were new people, and old people here and she enjoyed seeing them much. She walked to the trees and just phased through the bush and low wall that got in her way. Kitty then climbed one of the smaller Oak trees and looked over the grounds. It was a nice perch and she could see the pristine calmness. Surely nothing could go wrong right now, nothing.

Finally she had found her mark. She had just flown down from the sky with another man who looked older then her and slightly foreign. She was a mutant and he probably was too. The whole building was more then likely full of them. It must be a sanctuary of some sort like she had guessed. It would explain a lot.
Looking through her powerful binoculars she watched for a while as the women who called herself Rouge interacted with the other people in the room she had just entered. Amy had been taught to lip read so understood most of the conversation, but they kept on turning their backs to the window. She needed to get closer and began looking around for some cover nearer the window. She could just make out what looked like a small formal garden not far from the building. It was covered heavily in snow, but had some neatly cut box hedges that she could easily conceal herself in once she got there.
She began changing into her snow camouflage clothes when she spotted another resident of the mansion coming towards her position. Making graceful movements she climbed higher into the tree cursing the approaching person for ruining her plan. Once sitting upon a sturdy branch she moved as little as possible so not as to disturb any of the snow. She watched what turned out to be a woman, literally walk through the obstacles in her way then begin to climb a tree not far from her current position. Luckily Amy was much higher and practically invisible with her suit on, but that didn’t stop her being weary.
It did confirm her suspicions though, this really was a place for mutants.

Kitty sat up in the tree for a while thinking, sometimes about the people here, most of the time about Banshee. She was intrigued by him, he had been so polite and kind to her. She decided to find out where he was and maybe talk to him, about what she didn't know but she was sure she could figure it out.
Kitty jumped from her tree limb and just phased through the ones in her way before heading back up to the mansion. She didn't know where he was but why not try out the rec. room.
