She walked into the room, slamming the door behind her and letting out a scream. She didn't care who heard. Besides, the rooms were relatively sound proof. Kicking clothes out of the way, she headed to her dresser. Tugging on some clean underwear, a pair of jeans, and a long-sleeved t-shirt, she searched for a pair of matching gloves. What to do? Go to Joseph for help removing the device? It seemed like lately, she had relied on Magnetos a little too much for comfort. First thing she'd do once she was free again was fly over there and kick that old man's ass. Running away like that, leaving her to shoulder the blame. Maybe she'd just give his location to the authorities. Nah, chances were that he'd get out of it anyway. Finally pulling on a pair of gloves, she sat back on her bed. She still hadn't made a choice.

Joseph heard a familiar shriek of rage and frustration coming from Rogue's room. He sighed and shook his head, then stopped in front of her door. He hesitated before knocking. She seemed uncomfortable by his presence here, which was to be expected, and he did not wish to make her any more uncomfortable. But he also did not want her to be so unhappy she was screaming about it. He hesitated another moment, then rapped on the door.
"Rogue, are you all right?" he called through the door, figuring he need not identify himself. "May I come in?" It was not as if she could stop him from opening the door, but it was her space and he would not enter it without permission. She'd probably try to snap his neck if he did and he really did not want to start a fight with her. So, he waited for her response.

She opened one of her eyes and glared at the door. Joseph. Maybe that was the answer. Groaning, she sat up. "Come in."
As she waited for him to enter the room, she rolled up the leg of her pants, and (for the umpteenth time since the anklet was activated) resisted the urge to smash the small device.
"Joseph, Ah need you t' take this off. Ah gotta get out of this place for a couple of hours."

Joseph opened the door and stepped in. Rogue was dressed now and looked upset. She propped her foot up and rolled up the pant leg of her jeans. "Joseph, Ah need you t' take this off. Ah gotta get out of this place for a couple of hours," she stated quickly.
He was a bit surprised at her request. He moved to her side though and concentrated on the security bracelet. "What happened?" he asked as the bracelet opened and he carefully pulled it off, the light on it still blinking as if she was wearing it. He closed it, making certain the frequency did not change and tucked it into his pocket. He would carry it around with him while she was gone, so it would look as though Rogue was moving through the house still. He could move the signal if he wanted, but this required less use of his powers.
Joseph stepped back from her and gave her a concerned look. "What is wrong?" he asked again. "Did something happen? I did not hear any explosions or sounds of battle. Or are you merely tired of being confined?"

She sighed. "A bit of both. Callisto showed up, rantin' and ravin' and tryin' to kill Remy... This place may be a mansion, but it's still hard as hell to escape when you want to avoid someone."
She looked up at him, realizing that he might take that the wrong way. "Not you, Joseph. If Ah was tryin' to avoid you, Ah wouldn't tell you about it." She smiled, then rolled down her pants leg again and stood up. "If anyone asks, tell them that Remy and Ah went for a walk in the woods or somethin', okay?"

So Gambit was the one Callisto was referring to when she claimed the X-Men were harboring a murderer. It made him wonder. He briefly remembered Gambit's trial in Antarctica, but he had been nearly unconscious from the torture he had endured while they were captures, and didn't remember many details. He wondered if that 'crime' was what Callisto was referring to. Considering all Rogue had been through lately, he decided to wait to ask for more details. Truly, he could ask LeBeau himself when they were working on placing her gift later. He smiled at her as she quickly added he was not the person she wanted to avoid. In a way, he knew his presence made her uncomfortable and would make her avoid him a little, but for now, that worked in his favor.
Joseph nodded at her request. "Of course," he agreed. "I will keep your bracelet with me, so that it will appear to the sensors you are still moving about the mansion." He looked at her. "I do not need to tell to be careful and keep a low profile, I hope?" His tone was light and teasing. "Have fun Rogue. I will cover for you."

She smiled and gave him a quick hug. "Thanks, Joseph. And Ah'll try to be inconspicuous... no promises though. Ah might just turn up on one of them 'Girls Gone Wild' videos." She grinned and moved towards the door, not bothering to wait for him to exit first. Not like she could keep him out just by locking the door anyway.
"Lock up when you're done diggin' through mah underwear, okay sugar?" She laughed, the fact that she was being rebellious for the first time in months starting to get to her.

Joseph returned her hug, pleased to see her smiling again. Her first joke confused him and he was about to ask her what the 'Girls' Gone Wild' video was when she made her second request. Color burst into his cheeks. "Rogue...I would...," he stammered, his mind trying to process the vulgar humor. "I would never go through your private things." Somehow he managed the coherent sentence.
He stood there stunned, unsure what her jest meant. Did she really think he would do such a thing? If she did, why ever for? It seemed ridiculous to him. Her underclothing could not tell him anything about her. His white brows knitted together. "Why in the world would you think that?"

She looked at him for a few seconds, then burst into laugher. Leaning against the doorway, she fought to regain composure, and when she finally was able to speak, she was panting. "Ah... Jo...Joseph, it... was..." Another fit of laughter hit her, and she gave up trying to talk and turned to leave again. "You're too much."
Still laughing, she made her way back down to the kitchen.

Rogue burst out laughing at his reaction. It took her several moments to regain her composure and even then she seemed vastly amused by his confusion and embarrassment. Joseph was almost glad when she departed for her little flight of freedom. He felt foolish for not understanding her joke. He wondered perhaps if she forgot that he had not much experience with such humor.
He regained his composure a bit, shaking his head at himself. His reaction to her little jest had been overly dramatic. It wasn't as if he had no knowledge of intimacy, he had merely been taken aback by her use of that sort of humor with him. Now that he had a chance to think about it, it was encouraging. She was beginning to relax around him. A very good sign indeed.
Joseph headed out of Rogue's room, using his powers to shut and lock the door behind him. Since Gambit would be keeping Rogue occupied for awhile, it would give him a chance to search the mansion for someplace to put Rogue's gift for presentation. He would be able to move it anywhere she wished after he had given to her.

She had just barely sat down when she got the message from Betsy. Jumping back up again, she frowned. Seconds after being freed, and already there was something that needed her attention. Ah well.
