Emma had gone back into her bedroom to get something and by the time she returned, all hell had broken loose. She stood in the back of the living room, near the dining room and crossed her arms in front of her. Subconsciously making them aware of her presence one by one with her telepathy, she waited until the room quieted down before speaking.
“I have just been informed that dinner is ready. Now, I expect you to behave much better over dinner then you have in the last several minutes,” she told them sternly. She made a mental note to confront Alison later for her childish actions.
Turning, she walked into the dining room and sat down at the head of the table. A generous spread of various pastas, meats and vegetable dishes graced the long table and as soon as the students sat down, they were allowed to begin eating. A salad with fresh spring greens sat on each plate along with a cloth, white napkin resting beside the plates. Scentless taper candles lit the table as well as the hanging chandelier in the middle.

Chris hadn't had the time to answer before Alison slammed the door, Sabastian winced and then quietly filled with dread as he became aware of Madame. He listened silently and then gave Chris and apologetic smile as he headed toward the dining room, perhaps he'd talk to Chris later. When he sat down he picked up his napkin and laid it in his lap like his mom had taught him. He waited for everyone to be served and then started eating, quietly. He didn't really trust himself to talk to anyone, sure he might set off another person, and that wouldn't be good, for him or the person.

Dinner, YES! thought Rand. He was starving. He walked into the kitchen and saw various foods. The chandelier in the middle was very cool looking. He started to fill his plate. He saw Sabastian put his napkin in his lap, so he felt inclined to do the same, for the sake of manners. He started to eat slowly, savoring the food.
Poor Alison! She's missing out on this food he thought while he was eating. Nobody was talking, and he didn't feel like starting a conversation. He just ate. And enjoyed.

Sharon watched the events unfold quietly, grateful that Jonathan had come to her rescue yet also slightly upset because she didn't need him to fight for her. When Emma nudged her telepathically, she stood up, ignoring Ali's outburst and shooting a quick glare at Chris. She didn't like him. Making her way to the table, she sat down in her chair, directly next to Emma's, and started to pile food onto her plate.

Ear waited till several people entered the dinning room. He watched as first Sabastian then Epoch put napkins in their laps and followed their example.
He looked over the food and just sat there. He didn't want to be thought of as greedy or make a fool of himself getting to much food or by not knowing what to do. Instead he made it look like he was just trying to decide.

Chris nodded to acknowledge his teammate, then made his way to the table silently. He was almost glad that Ali decided to get out of there. He wasn't too sure that he would be able to stand sitting through dinner with her at the table. As it was, there were enough people there to annoy him. Taking his seat at the opposite head of the table from Emma, he put his napkin on his lap and began to load up his plate.
Without waiting for anyone else, he ate his dinner.

Before Rand responded, Emma announced dinner and Rusty followed the general horde into the dining room. The atmosphere however was tense and silent except for the sound of eating. Rusty was going insane.
"So...ah...who likes....um......stuff?" he said.
Snorting at himself, he leant back and rolled his eyes. "Ok, fine. Not the best conversational opening. So sue me. The silence was deadly."

"So...ah...who likes....um......stuff?" he said. They had all been eating when Rusty had broken the silence. Rand had been in the middle of drinking his Dr.Pepper and he almost had to spit it out. He fought to contain his laughter. He succeeded. "What kinda stuff do you mean?" he asked in a slight Irish accent. He had been losing his accent since he came to America two years ago.

Watching people pick food off the table Jonathon followed suit. He took a little of just about everything then took a hold of the fork and knife to plow into the food as several others were. He was hungry but he took it at a moderate pace, similar to the others.
The food was good but he wasn't use to it and decided that he wouldn't have anything more than just this plateful.
"So...ah...who likes....um......stuff?"
Jonathon almost gagged. This was terrible, was life like this always? Because if it was he was going to leave.

Not touching her food, Emma watched the students eat. If there was anything the kids enjoyed, it was food. She normally wouldn't have them all up in her apartment like this but since it was winter break for the school, most of the staff was gone. She kept a close eye on Jonathon. He looked as if he were afraid the food was poisonous and given what information she had retrieved from him earlier, he probably had good reason to be suspecting.
Rusty attempted to start the conversation and although the poor boy couldn't quite get out what he wanted to say, she appreciated his effort. Taking a sip of wine, she said, "Thank you, Rusty. I wanted to take this chance to introduce you all to our newest student. Jonathon has come to us in a most unorthodox manner but he is here nonetheless and like everyone else in this room, he is a mutant. Jonathon, these are your teammates, the Hellions," she said as she gestured to each side of the table. As she introduced each of them, she made sure she maintained eye contact with him. If he was getting ready to bolt, she wanted to know. He seemed on edge as it was.

Epoch listened to Emma speaking to Jonathan. He decided to introduce himself. "Hey, Jonathan, me name is Epoch, but ye can call me Rand if ye want to" he said, his Irish accent coming into effect. He was done eating, his stomach was very full. Beatrice sure could cook. "Say, Jonathan, would you like to hang out with me some time? I could show ye around if ye want me to" .
Then he turned to Frost. "Ms. Frost, may I be excused?" he asked. He sat back and waited for an answer.

She played with her food and listened to the conversation. Dinner like this was something that she hadn't been doing for too long. When she first arrived at the Academy, she'd insisted on catching her own food to eat, but soon, Emma had managed to teach her how to eat like a human. Still, communal meals weren't her favorite thing. She looked at the new boy, still not entirely trusting him.
Pushing some of her food to the side of the plate, she took a drink from her water glass and decided that she was done eating. Standing up, she picked up her plate and headed towards the kitchen, speaking to Emma as she did. "Will help with dishes."
She collected one of the empty platters and walked into the kitchen. She knew that the housekeeper wouldn't have a problem with cleaning up herself, but she felt like she should help, especially after all that the woman had endured when Sharon first came to live there.

Jonathon glared at the lady, she had to know he hated this. He didn't bother trying to break eye contact wither her. He wanted her to know he loathed her. All this attention and being drawn into the open screamed bad news at him. He just nodded at the irish boys offer. Didn't bother to even look at him, he knew who he was know, he'd seen him in the adjacent room.
You have to know I hate this and I'm going to hate you for it, there's no way you can't.
It felt better to think it, like he was actually talking to her.
"I'm not a mutant."
It was the first words he spoke the entire dinner.

Sabastian let a small smile grace his lips as Rusty made a disasterous attempt at a conversation. It really was bad, and Rand didn't help much by choking on his food. He ducked his head to hide his smile and kept on eating. Only looking up when Madame introduced him, but then Jonathan had met him before so it wasn't criticle. He wasn't one to eat much and was finished quickly, he slid his plate back and watched Sharon leave. It was a kind offer, and one he would have liked to join as well, but it would seem strange for him, so he contented himself with studying the other's. His gaze ended up on Jonathan again. He was a bit surprised by the glare of hatred comeing from him, and even more by the statement he had made. Sabastian leaned back in his chair and turned toward Madame. This would be interesting. He had no doubt that the boy was a mutant, after all Madame had accepted him into the Hellions, there was now WAY he wasn't. Jonathan had just probably not accepted the fact yet, he'd heard of mutants like that.

His conversational attempt having gone over about as well as it deserved, Rusty finished his food quickly. "So, I've got a load of homework and assignments and junk so I'll head back to my room and get started." Rusty said, feigning a pained shudder.
Turning to Ms. Frost, he said "Thank you for dinner Ms. Frost, may I be excused?"
