"I am determined to make sure this Act doesn't go through.”
Kerian took the documents he was handed by Emma. At first it was rather dry, simple pleasantries from Xavier, along with a few situation reports. Then it got interesting...
The details where sparse, but everything Forge needed to know was clearly on these corresponding emails, putting the printed pieces of paper down. He turned to Emma.
"This is serious, I didn't realize how dangerous this has become. Emma, if something isn't done we could all be in danger." Keeping his head in the clouds or rather in his work, hadn't helped either. Forge made a mental note to keep up with the details on a regular basis. "So I guess we will be dealing with Charlie and the Xtra-men?", he said trying to lighten the mood, though the possibility of doing that was remote to none.

“Of course. I tried to talk him out of getting involved as I know he will never agree to my methods but he is determined to stick his pointy little nose into it,” Emma replied.
Hours later, they had discussed every possibility that the two adults could think of. Emma relied on Forge's brilliance and he was one of the few people she felt truly matched her own. It was one of the things that had kept their easy friendship going for so many years.
By the time the sun was beginning its trek up the sky, she looked at Forge and said, “Go gather whatever you want to take with you. Once the kids wake up, we'll surprise them with Christmas in the city and be on our way.”

“Go gather whatever you want to take with you. Once the kids wake up, we'll surprise them with Christmas in the city and be on our way.”
For Emma to want to make the trip their a.s.a.p. told Forge all he needed to know. This was serious business, he could almost sense her trepidation at the entire affair, for Emma that was almost borderline fear. He would support her all the way if needed, and then some. Forge knew that she would count on him to watch and take care of the kids. He wasn't much of "babysitter", but he would do his best.
"Done, I'll take care of it as soon as they have had breakfast. I know this is going to be dangerous, but you can count on me as always."

Emma walked him to the door but before she opened it, she turned to him and said, “I know, Kerian, and I truly appreciate it. I am just not willing to sit back and sacrifice any of those kids downstairs to a bunch of hateful humans. I will be successful in Washington with or without Xavier's help.” Forge had a habit of keeping to himself but whenever she needed him, he was there. That was what made him one of the very few people in this world that Emma considered a friend.

Jono stopped in his room long enough to grab another turtle neck sweatshirt, this one black. Then he headed for Emma's apartment. Pulling the shirt over his head, he brushed his bangs out of his eyes and pulled the neck cuff up over the bandages, concealing them. He wondered why the White Queen was sending the students to New York. He also wondered if she would be accompanying them or not. She was most likely already working on a plan to stop this bill from passing. Still, if there was anything he could do to help out, he wanted to know.
He knocked on her apartment door. < Old Mum, it's me, > he sent into her room. < You want to bloody well tell me what's going on? >

After Forge left, Emma set to work getting ready for her own personal march on Washington. A hot shower later, she was dressed in a pure white business suit, the skirt coming down to just below her thighs, perfectly tan bare legs with high heeled white shoes. The only color in the whole outfit was a light pink camisole that plunged low in the neckline and was covered with a white suit coat. Emma's hair was combed straight down and rested elegantly around her shoulders.
Hanging up the phone with her limo driver, she heard Jono call out to her in his usual sarcastic tone. < Door's open. > she replied.
As he walked in, she smiled sweetly at him, her arms crossed in front of her and asked, “Now, why ever would you think something was going on?” If he wanted to know something specifically, he was going to have to ask. She wasn't handing out free information, especially with as desperate a situation as this was.

Jono heard her invitation and stepped in, closing the door behind him. Emma was dressed for business, wearing a conservative suit. Well conservative for her. She offered him a saccharine smile. “Now, why ever would you think something was going on?”
Chamber crossed his arms over his chest. < I saw the news report about this sodding 'Mutant Registration Act', > he told her. < Is that why you're sending the ruddy kids to New York? And are you going with them, or going to Washington? I know you, you can't just leave this to Fate. You know what a bloody bitch she can be. >
He raked his fingers through his hair, realizing he was probably being unneccesarily harsh. He let out a mental sigh. < Bloody hell, old mum, > he said, shaking his head. < Sorry, I don't mean to be such a wanker. You know how I hate hiding what I am, but this bill's just a bleedin' catastrophe waiting to happen. It's probably making everybody bonkers. > He paced back and forth for a few moments, then looked at her. < What can I do to help? >

Emma let him rant, Lord knew it was what she wanted to do when Xavier and her own spies first told her about this bill. Jono was certainly going to be more affected by it then most of the others.
When he asked if he could help, she gave him a genuine smile, one of the few warm smiles she offered to anyone, and replied, “I'm going to Washington. I can't allow this to pass and I know enough people and have enough influence that I can make sure it doesn't. However, I won't be there alone. Believe it or not, Xavier has been keeping me updated on a lot of what has happened and I have a feeling he and his little merry band of X-Men will also be there.” She frowned with that last statement. The man could cause trouble with her plans if he got in the way.
Refocusing her attention on Jono again, she continued, “You and Forge are taking the students to the Club in New York. Should the unthinkable happen and this bill pass, they will be safest there. There is not only a ton of protection provided by the Hellfire Club itself but the anonymity of a city as large as New York will also help to hide them. That is where you can help me, Jono. Keep them in line and out of trouble so I can do my job without worry.”
As she talked, she had been stuffing her white leather case with folders. Once the kids were ready to leave, they could pile into the limo and head to the private air strip that housed her jet. The trip would be very short that way and once settled, Emma could continue on to Washington and stop the madness before it truly began.

Chamber listened to her explanation and nodded slowly. He didn't know much about this Xavier bloke, but just so long as she wouldn't be alone in Washington. The White Queen was a formidable mutant, but even she was no match for a mob of angry mutant haters. Then she got on to what he could do. He was supposed to help somebody named Forge babysit the kids and take them to the Hellfire Club in New York.
He let out a dry mental chuckle and nodded. < I think I can manage that, Mum, > he assured her, then sobered. < I'll take good care of them for you, I promise. >
< Be bloody well careful out there. > he added, his tone serious. < These kids need you. You're all the family a couple of them have anymore. > He kept up the tough act, but she was as close to family as he had as well. Emma had taken him in when he was a frightened boy with fragile control of very dangerous, self-destructive powers that the rest of the world had rejected as a monster. She'd taught him to control the immense amount of psionic energy burning within his body and was helping him hone his telepathy, when he'd decided he was tired of pretending to be something he wasn't. Leaving her school had been a mistake. Almost as much of a mistake as taking up with that pop star.
He banished those thoughts and looked at her. < You want me to go gather up the kids? > he asked. < Sharon and Rusty were in the kitchen having breakfast, last I saw. > Then he remembered about Catseye's little show that morning. < And Mum, you may want to have a word with Sharon about walking around without her clothes. I thought the poor bloke was going to burn himself up with embarrassment this morning when she decided to make her breakfast in the buff. > A chuckle rattled around in her mind as he recalled the morning's antics for her. < She's a nice gel. She doesn't need some not so nice git hurting her because she doesn't know better. > Not that Emma didn't know this, but he figured it couldn't hurt to put his two cents worth in.

< Be bloody well careful out there. > he said to her.
“I'll be careful. Now that you have come back, you are not getting out of training that easily, Jono. As soon as this is taken care of, it will be business as usual around here. Hopefully, we can finish it before they break for Christmas,” she replied with a wry smile. “Be careful yourself, one would think you cared about your 'Old Mum' if they heard you talking like that.”
Then he told her, and in a way showed her, about Sharon. Emma sighed. “I have tried getting it through that girl's head that she is just too old to not care about her lack of clothing. She isn't too fond of the uniform but it really is the only thing that can transform with her. However, I'll see what more I can do.” Raising her eyebrow, she continued, “I don't need you young men getting all uncomfortable around her, now do I?”
Changing the subject back to the task at hand before she let him know just how much he meant to her and have him think she wasn't quite the ice queen she had a reputation for being, she said, “Get the students ready and meet me in front of the gate. The limo will be there soon to take us to the jet.”

Jono chuckled when she mentioned that Sharon wasn't too fond of the Hellions' uniform. Most of the Hellions weren't fond of the uniforms. First of all, they were pink. And skintight and low cut. Chamber's had been less low cut, due to the need to cover his mutation, his had the addition of a close fitting collar that could be pulled off when not needed. He still had his uniform, but didn't intend to be putting it on anytime soon. Magenta wasn't his color. Her joke about Sharon's nudity made him chuckle mentally again. He'd said almost the same thing to Sharon himself.
“Get the students ready and meet me in front of the gate. The limo will be there soon to take us to the jet.”, she told him, stuffing papers into a white briefcase. She was more worried than she let on, he didn't need to read her mind to know that. Not that he could, she was the far superior telepath, far superior than he'd ever be. Or at least that he thought he could be. The White Queen obviously thought differently. Regardless, it wasn't important right now.
< Sure thing, Old Mum, > he agreed lightly. < I'll get them moving. See you in a bit. >
He headed out of her apartment, sending his mind out towards the students he knew of.

Emma finished up her packing and called down to the driver to come and pick up her bags. She didn't know how long she was going to be there and although she had joked with Jono about being done before Christmas, she wouldn't be surprised if they met that very day to continue discussing this. The pushers of the bill were that determined to make it go through.
After the driver picked up her luggage, Emma bid farewell to Beatrice and opened the door. This was probably one of the most important things she had ever done and although she had no doubt she would be successful, the getting there could take some work. Pulling her white fur coat close to her, Emma left her apartment and walked to her limo.
