She walked in and sat her bags down on the bed, crossing to the bathroom. Splashing water on her face, she looked at herself in the mirror. In the course of twenty four hours, she'd managed to kill one person and kidnap another. She smiled. Not bad. Toweling off her face, she headed back into the bedroom, where she set up her computer and laid her guns out, placing them in different hidden locations throughout the room. If trouble came knocking, she was ready to reply with the standard NRA greeting.
Looking at the clock, she unlocked the connecting door and stepped into Ear's room, not caring about interrupting anything that he might be doing.

She didn't bother to close the connecting door, but instead left it open. Not like there was much noise that she could keep him from hearing anyway. A quick phone call, and their breakfast had been ordered. She switched on the television, idly flipping through the channels until she found a news station. There was nothing really that they were talking about that interested her, but she left it on just in case something came up. Sitting on her bed, she booted up her computer and started to review the documents that pertained to their current "mission."

After awhile, there came a knock on the door. Standing up, she moved toward it, not bothering to conceal her identity. When she opened the door, the man standing there with the cart didn't even try to hide his surprise. Rolling her eyes, she pulled the cart into the room and shooed him away. "Didn't you hear, Mutants don't tip. Now go away before I turn you into a throw rug."
Not the best way to spark peacful relationships between Humans and Mutants, but it got the man away. And if anyone came to confirm his story, they'd find a completely different woman answering the door. Before she closed her door, she heard something in the room across the hall. Perhaps Magneto was back and his pet had forgotten to relay the message. Only one way to find out.

Ear enters via connecting door
Ear entered the room and found it just like his plus a couple extras. Obviously stuff Mystique had brought. He saw the trolly and grabbed his food. He was not going to go tamely back into his room, he was going to wait her for Mystique. Ear had a couple questions and she was about to answer them or find a very reluctant recruit.

She walked back into the room after her conversation with Magneto, feeling both angry at the way he had spoken of her trip to New York and somehwat energized because of the unusual alliance that they were entering into. To her surprise, Ear was sitting in there, eating.
"You are not going to be sleeping in here too, you know." Moving to the cart, she frowned. Her food was cold. Ah, well. Grabbing the water, she cracked it open and took a sip. "What do you want?"

Ear had heard the entire converstation and was amused by it. Of course he resented being called a child, boy, and most of all mutant. It still rubbed against his grain to be grouped with the people he had heard made fun of, mocked, and hated. He ignored Mystiques first comment as that was quite plain, instead he replied with one word. "Food." He thoguht that it was somewhat obvious, but maybe she was just a little thick.

She looked over at him and glared. What did he take her for, some kind of moron? "You'll find that my sense of humor isn't exactly the most overt. I paid extra for you to have a room of your own, and if you don't plan on using it, I'm sure there's a dumpster outside somewhere that you can occupy."
Sitting down on the bed, she began to plan out where the most strategic positions were for operatives to be placed. From what Erik had said, it looked like they were going to try a slightly more diplomatic approach, but it never hurt to have backup. She had a good feeling that the X-Men would bring backup, and there was no way that she was going to let them outshine her Brotherhood.

You'll find that my sense of humor isn't exactly the most overt. I paid extra for you to have a room of your own, and if you don't plan on using it, I'm sure there's a dumpster outside somewhere that you can occupy." Ear glared back at Mystique. "In case you didn't notice you left the food cart in your room, and instead of pulling it into mine and being accused of stealing I left it here, exactly where you did. And I'm sure this room was planned out just for me when you had no idea I even existed fifteen minutes before we left." He turned and walked to the connecting door.
Before he went into his own room Ear turned around. He had something to say and she was either going to listen or blow him off, either way she couldn't say he hadn't said it. "I respect what you have here." He waved to the room, the laptop, some of the guns he could detect. "I respect your organization, but that respect won't keep me here if I feel that this is either a waste of time, or if I end up just sitting around on my ass all day." He racehd for the nob of the door. "I've been looking out for myself a long time and I expect a little respect in return, not a lot, just a little."

She smiled at his outburst, enjoying his short fused temper. Evidently, despite the fact that he had lifted the plate off of the cart, he seemed to have forgotten that he was able to carry it into the next room. "I would not have accused you of stealing the food that I ordered for you. And it wasn't until after your miserable, failed attempt to rob me that I even knew that we would be here. So yes, the room was in fact planned out just for you."
As he spoke about respect, her smile slowly disappeared. "Respect is earned, boy. And so far I've given you much more leeway than I do the others. The fact that you are still alive should say something about respect. You've heard the phrase, 'keep your friends close and your enemies closer?' I prefer to keep my friends close and my enemies dead. So far, you've been treading that line and if you want respect, you sure as hell had better show some in return."
Still fuming, she continued. "You think you're something special, just because you're a kid who can hear things better than most people? We've been around a lot longer than that, we've been succesful at what we do from probably before you were even born. I'm letting you in on this for you, not for me. You are expendable. You refuse to even admit that you are a mutant, despite the obvious evidence to the contrary. You are inexperienced. You could end up being a liability. The only reason that you are here is because my personal weakness is little lost children. And you seem quite lost."

Ear stared mouth half open. "Lost." He blinked a couple times. "You call me lost?" He looked at the floor. This was harder than he thought to form words. Storming out would only lower Mystiques opinion of him, and obviously he was further off than he thought he had been. Obviously Mystique was very good at conceeling her opinions and he was going to have be careful.
"You know what, I told you I respected you, I told you I respected your organizations. I admited to all that. Apparently you didn't hear it, or you think that my word isn't worth enough." Ear was fairly ticked and just about ready to rip something apart in his frustration. He knew that attacking Mystique would be a big mistake and he would never attempt it. Finally, dryly he asked "What is it you want from me?"

She simply nodded at his question. Yes, he was lost. He obviously had nowhere to live, and as she saw it, she was the one doing him a favor. As he continued to rage, she watched him calmly. "Actions speak louder than words."
Maybe speaking in cliches would make him understand that even though he claimed to respect her and what she stood for, he continued to talk back as if he had some kind of leverage. Her face never once revealing just how much she was enjoying the situation. "All I want from you is for you to let me help you. No matter how convinced you are that you're fine on your own, the truth is that you stand a much better chance of survival if allied with us. Even the strongest people that I know prefer to have someone there to watch their backs, and that is what I'm offering you. It's your choice. I have nothing to lose if you decline, but we both have something to gain if you accept."

Ear shut up, for once in his life someone was making sense. For once someon had a reasonable plan, and benefit. He bowed and left the room through the connecting door.

Once Ear had left, she had some time to relax. The past few days had been quite taxing on her emotionally, and she needed a good nap. As a force of habit, though, she never really stayed asleep for too long. Rising to her feet, she decided that it might be worth her while to see who else besides Magneto's lapdog and the new Irishman was there with them. She grabbed her water bottle and headed out into the hallway, assuming her default "human" form and carrying along a list of the rooms that she'd booked.

She collapsed onto her bed as soon as she was able to. She wasn't as tired as most people would be, but she was still tired.
Before she even had a chance to close her eyes, a familiar voice from the hallway made her groan. It was looking more and more like she wasn't going to have the chance to get any "regular" sleep. Closing her eyes, she concentrated on changing her muscle tissues, effectively rebooting her body. Standing back up, she stretched as if she'd had a full night's sleep. Of course, she hadn't. Throwing open the door, she glared at the people in the hallway.
