Forge turned over the device he was working on, meticulous work was his specialty, and this piece required a steady hand indeed. Placing a lens on his eye he examined the detail of the design. Hopefully it would do the job it was designed for, if not then Emma could be out of reach in a heartbeat.
Testing the transmitter, Kerian listened to the familiar thump, thump that was made by the device. It was utter and total perfection. With this he would be able to contact Emma even if she was chained in an adamantium chamber deep underwater, thought he hoped she would never be in such a position.
Forge's mind drifted for a moment as he though about Emma, quickly he drew himself back into his work. He pushed away thoughts that he knew would never be, it couldn't happen, she didn't look at him that way. Even though they were close, they weren't that close.
Kerian slammed the tool in his hand down onto the desk he was working on. He needed to get a grip on the situation, Emma needed him, but it was purely business and Forge would resign himself to that, to simply keep her out of danger. Maybe one day it could be different but not now, not with all the insanity with the MRA going on.
Gathering his thoughts and centering his mind, Forge turned off the psychic dampener. She must never know.. he thought to himself, allowing the last bits of his feelings to be restrained in the inner blockade of his mind.

Emma walked with long strides down the hall, toward the room that she had sensed Kerian in. She couldn't even begin to fathom what he was doing here and not in New York protecting her kids.... her students. He, more then anyone around her, knew how important they were to her. As her best friend, Kerian had been the one to listen to her, whether it was a rant about a student not trying hard enough or the tears of hurt she had cried when Jono left. Thank God she could trust him to never let any of the kids know how much they affected her. Which is why she was rather upset to discover him in Washington.
Raising her hand to her head, she realized just how much worse her reaction headache had gotten. Add that to the fact that she probably needed at least a few hours of sleep but that was going to be almost impossible since she needed to finish preparing for tomorrow and Emma had worked herself up into quite a foul mood. Reaching up and knocking on Kerian's door, Emma didn't even bother to tell him who it was. He was going to open that door and get a big surprise.

Kerian was still fumbling with the device in his hands, when his proximity alarms went off. Flipping the video monitor on, which was connected to the tiny hall camera he had setup, he could clearly see the image of Emma heading toward the room he had "obtained". Not long after that a knock followed.
Standing up to his full figured Indian height, Kerian reached for a shirt hanging over a nearby piece of furniture. "Wouldn't want her to see me indecent."
She looked mad, which was an understatement when the White Queen lost her temper. Hopefully Forge would survive this in one piece, once she heard his story. That is if he got the chance to tell it.
Clicking on the psychic dampener he opened the door, "Yeah I know I got a lot of explain to do. Yeah I know your pissed at me, but believe me would I leave the children without them being well taken care of?", Kerian allowed his full baritone Indian signature voice to remain soft and flowing, like he had been taught. Of course the tribe shaman didn't know Emma Frost.

One minute, she could feel his psyche and the next she couldn't. Forge was hiding something. Pushing that thought aside as he opened the door, she listened to his even voice, trying to calm her down before she had even said anything. Emma pushed past him and into the room, closing the door behind her. What they talked about was not meant for anyone else's ears and she had no doubt that Kerian had the room rigged for privacy.
Turning to face him, her hands on her hips and her icy blue eyes flashing, she said in as calm a voice as she could muster, "How, exactly, are my students being well taken care of, Kerian? You know how this mess here in Washington could affect them as early as tomorrow. I trusted you to be there with them. Yes, Jono is trustworthy but he's barely older then they are! He's also got a mischievous streak a mile wide and it wouldn't take much to talk him into something."
She took a few deep breaths, trying to calm down. Taking her hands off her hips, she looked around the room. Shaking her head, she said, "What did you do, bring your whole damned workshop with you? What is all of this stuff?"
She was exhausted. Her head ached from the amount of psychic power it took to control that employee for that length of time and space. She had thought she could go back to her own room once she was done dealing with Xavier, whom she hadn't even intended on seeing tonight. If she didn't get any rest, she was going to tax her powers out tomorrow and she knew it. Walking over to a chair, she sat down, waiting for Kerian to explain what the hell he thought he was doing.

Yes, Jono is trustworthy but he's barely older then they are! He's also got a mischievous streak a mile wide and it wouldn't take much to talk him into something."
Yep, he knew it was coming. One thing he could always be sure of was Emma's concern for her students, even those she had to let go of. Kerian bit his lower lip slightly, he thought that she would trust him more then that even under these circumstances.
Kicking off her reaction, as being a stress induced emotion; Kerian explained, "Emma, the students are well taken care of. Have you ever known me to leave them unprotected? They are more then taken care of, my concern at the moment is you." Pausing for a moment Kerian allowed a short sigh.
"Have you examined the data I gave you? Surely you must know that there is more at stake here then just some simple Senate bill."
Forge walked over to his computer, directing Emma to look at the monitor. "I'm sure your familiar with Psychic Displacement Phenomena, PDP. This is very similar to that except its occurring on a temporal scale. I don't know how to explain it anymore then that. It seems that everywhere this happens, which strangely has only been within this city, there is a temporal displacement in events. A quantum shift if you will. I know this sounds far fetched. Just look at the readouts here, here and here."
Kerian brought up a series of animated images displaying a series of red blotches overlaying a grid map of the city. Most appeared to be centered around the hotel as the appeared and disappeared at what seemed to be a random pattern. "Whatever this is its not only causing temporal displacement, its also messing with the any mutant tied to the astral. So your psionics would be affected, as would anyone else who possessed such powers."

"Emma, the students are well taken care of. Have you ever known me to leave them unprotected? They are more then taken care of, my concern at the moment is you," Kerian almost pouted. If he had, Emma didn't think she would ever take him seriously again.
Running her fingers through her hair, Emma conceded. For now. Honestly, she was too tired to argue with him and she knew that he was essentially right. The security that she had put around them would do their job and failure meant more then a loss of job. At least where Emma was concerned.
"Have you examined the data I gave you? Surely you must know that there is more at stake here then just some simple Senate bill. I'm sure your familiar with Psychic Displacement Phenomena, PDP. Just look at the readouts here, here and here," Forge went on to say, moving over to his computer.
Standing up, Emma removed her suit jacket and laid it over the back of the chair she had been sitting in. This was going to be a long night and she was at least going to be comfortable. She moved behind him and watched the screen over his shoulder, leaning over the chair. "Yes, I read over all the data you gave me a few times before I was interrupted. I, and probably every mutant gathered in this hotel, am quite aware this is more then a simple bill that needs to be stopped. Not only is Xavier here with his crew but so is Magneto," Emma explained. "As for the cause of these temporal displacements, this is your field of expertise, Kerian. I take it this is why you followed me to Washington?"
What Forge said next caught Emma's attention completely. "Whatever this is its not only causing temporal displacement, its also messing with the any mutant tied to the astral. So your psionics would be affected, as would anyone else who possessed such powers."
Straightening up, she thought about what had happened to Charles and began to pace slightly, her fingertip pushed against her lips. Stopping only after a few moments, she looked at Forge and said, "This must have been what happened to Charles. I was 'talking' to him when he suddenly shut down on me. All I received was a feeling of fear. After paying him a visit, and running into the X-Welcoming committee, he provided the most disturbing vision. Why was he affected and not other telepaths? Jean Grey was just as confused as I was by the whole event."

"This must have been what happened to Charles. I was 'talking' to him when ... other telepaths? Jean Grey was just as confused as I was by the whole event."
Forge suddenly gained a look of a man deep in thought, "If Charles Xavier is effected then it is only a matter of time before you feel the effects as well. This is not good Emma, I'll need more time to work on this device I'm building. Its a modified version of the dampener I use, except it will protect you from these high levels of psychic energy."
Placing it in her hand his voice changed slightly,as he allowed himself to show a fraction of his feelings. "Emma be careful, whatever this is, I know at least this much: Its growing in strength, eventually every psychic in this area could be rendered unconscious or worse. Now if you'll excuse me I have work to do." Thinking for a moment he continued, "It may be best to work with Xavier, for now. You're going to need all the help you can get. Be aware of Jean Grey, her full psychic powers are as of yet untapped, yet we do know of the entity that resides within her. If it were to be unleashed.. enough of this you need your rest and I need to do more work."

Dampener? Emma thought. That explains the void in his thoughts. It was a bit disturbing to know your best friend felt the need to shield his thoughts from you but she pushed it aside for now. She would have time to question Kerian about it later.
Slipping the jacket back on but not bothering to button it up, she replied, "I have bigger things to worry about then Mrs. Summers and her destructive side, Kerian. If something should happen, I would think that her husband and Charles would be too busy dealing with her for it to affect me immediately. Get that dampener finished and meet me in my room in the morning. We have work to do before I leave for the hearings."
Emma handed him a second key card for her room then walked to the door. Just before she opened it, she looked back and added, "Check in with Sabastian. If something happens to the Hellions, I won't be very forgiving." Not waiting for a reply, she walked out the door and headed for her own room.

White Queen via telepathy
As she walked through the hotel to the elevator and down to the lobby, she mentally contacted Forge. <Kerian, I'm on my way to the lobby to meet with Xavier and probably Lensherr as well. If you need to see me, I have a few minutes before we leave. Otherwise, contact me via whatever means you have provided me with or mentally. I'll keep a channel open for you.>
