<You left Sharon where and with whom? Sean, we haven't have a chance to tell the others about our discovery regarding Sharon yet and you left her with a boy who may or may not be Scott and Jean's son? I hope you at least warned him that she could possibly morph.> Sean could have kicked himself. His face kept the same friendly smile, but it was difficult, especially once Betsy reminded him,
<Sean, if she morphs into a human from panther, she'll be naked.> He had to be loosing his mind. He thought back to her,
'I did nae even think of tha', Betsy. This is why ye are the brains of the relationship. What kin we do about it now?' He listened as Betsy and Anna talked, it was odd, having Anna here to inspect the school. Usually it was someone they didn't know. Then Betsy answered his question about the ring. <I forgot to take it off and everyone out here saw it. So much for keeping it a secret. Oh, and Jean knows now as well.> Sean was not surprised, this afternoon had been crazy. Then Ash got picked up, literally by Warren. They were acting odd, well for Warren, odder than usual.
'With all the chaos today, I'm nae surprised, luv.' But I am glad nae to have to hide it. Then Anna-Marie asked him about his family,
"Well, I do have an older cousin, Tom Cassidy.. But we parted on rather bad terms, and I have nae seen him for years. Someone keeps telling me I should try ta find him, I've just never tried very hard. Why do ye ask, Anna?" Sean was curious, this question had seemingly come right out of the blue.

<Darling, look all you want. If you had shown up in my life sooner, you could have seen even more.>
This is why Remy preferred to play with Ash. Betsy was all too happy to tease him to the point where he couldn't stand up in front of the students, knowing that there wouldn't be any pay off. It was just mean, and she loved it. In that, she had his respect, but it wasn't as funny when he was the joke. <As for Anna and I, how's this to hold you over?> Then Remy received an intense image that made him stop dead in his tracks. < De t'ings I let you do ta me, Cher, de just mean. >
That image would be forever burned into Remy's mind. In fact, he might just use it as his new telepathy distraction thought. He normally used an image of that Toad guy who used to be in the Red Gaurd, bending over to pull up a pair of panties. That was enough to scare anyone away. But this one would disgust most of female telepaths with his crudeness, and distract the male ones. He just wondered if it was real or did she create it in her head. Oh who was he kidding, he didn't care about that. He could see it, it was real enough for him.
Remy soon began following again, hypnotized by the swaying backsides. He almost didn't realize they had stopped walking when Rogue asked Sean about his family. Narrowly escaping a collision, he still managed to play it off as if nothing was wrong with what he did. Remy pulled up very close to Anna as the Irishman answered. His family was something else Remy didn't want to talk about but he didn't let himself get caught this time. Still quiet though, he didn't want to risk any questions about his past. He just stood close to Rogue, letting her decide if he was too close or not.

She waited expectantly, still mulling over it in her head. Tom wasn't exactly the most well known person, and she got the distinct feeling that he enjoyed his privacy. Of course, given what he did... it really wasn't too surprising. "Well, I do have an older cousin, Tom Cassidy. Okay. That answered that question. But we parted on rather bad terms, and I have nae seen him for years. Someone keeps telling me I should try ta find him, I've just never tried very hard. Why do ye ask, Anna?"
She couldn't exactly tell him that his estranged cousin was now the leader of the Marauders. Hell, she wasn't even supposed to know about the Marauders. And Terry was a nice enough girl. But...she turned to the side a bit, raising an eyebrow at the Cajun, who'd decided to stand right up against her. Oookay. Looking back at Sean, she shrugged. "Just figured since Ah didn't get to screen you before, might as well do it now."
And that guy- Remy- was breathing on her neck. Evidently, he had a big problem with personal space. Not that she would mind getting much closer to him, but really. Common sense. He'd find out the hard way if he tried to get too much closer, though. She had her powers completely in the "on" position, and if he made any moves, it was his funeral. Would be a shame, too. Turning, she faced him. She had to interview at least two teachers during her stay, might as well make one of them the one who seemed so intent on being right there with her. "Ash said your name was Remy? That right?"

As Warren gently gained altitude he had heard Betsy enter his mind. The intrusion of a telepath always made him a little nervous, Warren wasn't sure what had been done to him after his transformation and was fearful that something would pop up that one of them would see and be distrubed by it. Lord only knew things where hard enough without someone seeing images of his tortures procedure that made him into the man he was today.
<You need to be more careful. Rogue wants to know where your flight class is.>
Warren realized that his cover story for leaving might have just been shot out of the window. He concentrated as he sent a thought back to Betsy, hopefully she would pick it up.
<The flight class was just a cover to get away from the group. When Agent Darkholme showed up I was afraid that there might be more Red Guard waiting in the wings for us. Explain to her that my flight class is a very tough class and I decided to give them the day off.>
He felt Ash’s arms as they wrapped around his neck and her tension in her was almost palpable. Warren had forgotten what is was like to not be able to fly and realized that for others this experience could be somewhat frightening. Her reassurance that she trusted really meant a lot to Warren, especially since he had just torn her apart not more then ten minutes ago.
"So... besides up... where are you taking me?"
The question brought a small break between his lips that might have almost been a smile.
“Nowhere in particular, though if there is a special place you want to go just say the word. I just really wanted to come up here. I find a certain peace up here in the sky that just isn’t possible on the ground. Up here I feel like all my troubles get left on the ground and up here everything truly feels like it will be alright. I brought you up here Ash because I really wanted to apologize. In the kitchen earlier I overreacted. I have a lot of inner turmoil and at that particular moment you happened to catch it full force. Your complaint was perfectly reasonable and I shouldn’t have said the things that I did. I just find it very heard some times to be here. Life here at the mansion is good but I really feel like I don’t belong here.”
Warren had to pause at this moment, for what was coming next truly terrified him.
“I have never told anyone this before but I didn’t always look like this. I know some of the others heard what happened to me from the Professor before he died but I have never actually talked about my past with the others. When I was young I was a part of a very wealthy family. I had everything I ever wanted and was set to gain even more when I took control of my father’s company. Then on a birthday my wings first emerged, they where not these metallic things that you see before you, they where a very small pair of feathered wings. As the days went on my wings began to grow and in time I eventually had the wings of an angel. I was scared at first but eventually I learned how to fly with them and then I came to love them! Unfortunately I got caught on camera. Needless to say my parents where less then thrilled. They still loved me but we all knew my mutation would destroy my family. I wouldn’t let that happen. So when I was contacted by researchers from Apoc Labs who said they had a cure for mutants I immdeatly jumped at the chance. Little did I know that instead of curing me those monsters stole my angel wings and gave me these monstrous weapons. They turned my skin blue and made me their angel of death. I eventually got free and met the Professor and came to the mansion just before he died.”
Remembering the pain Warren had felt at the Professor’s death brought a tear to his eye.
“The problem is I still don’t know what was done to me at that lab. I don’t even feel like a normal person anymore, I feel this dark part of me in the back of my mind that I hold back almost everyday. I have to remind myself that I am Warren Worthington the third and not just the monster Archangel. I really felt like my soul died that day at Apoc Labs and now I am nothing more then a monster. Needless to say this places a lot of stress on me and unfortunately I took it out on you. I didn’t mean what I said Ash, I trust you with my life and then some. I believe you are far stronger then you give yourself credit for. I look up to you because of strength and your determination. I would never mean to startle you and for that I am sorry. I truly hope that maybe someday you can forgive me.”

Warren paused before answering her, but it wasn't an uncomfortable pause, so Ash wasn't worried. "Nowhere in particular." Ash almost laughed, but didn't. It seemed like an awfull lot of trouble to fly someone up in the air, and not go anywhere. It had to be a flying thing. He asked if she wanted to go somehwere and she shook her head. She didn't have anywhere special that she wanted to go in the air. After all, she didn't fly, so she didn't know where they could go that was nice. She was just enjoying the view from where they were at anyway, plus she wasn't sure she liked flying yet, and didn't want to tempt fate.
He began talking again and Ash frowned, why was he telling her this? Hadn't she just chewed him out less than ten minutes ago? Maybe this was his way of explaining to her she needed to get a hold of herself, althoug, ASh thought he did a wonderful job of that in the Kitchen. Mabye... She listened, yes. He was apologizing. Warren was apologizing to her, ASh. For overreacting. This time she really did have to stiffle a laugh. If he thought he had overreacted she wondered what he thought of her. He had less reason to apologize, no, he had no reason. She was the problem, she was supposed to be the one to apologize. Men! she thought, always complicating things!
"I just find it very heard some times to be here. Life here at the mansion is good but I really feel like I don’t belong here.” He paused for a moment, and Ash leaned back in his arms to look up at his face. Did he just say he didn't belong? This man had some serious issues. If he didn't belong here, where would he belong? "Warren, I..." What? what was she going to say? It's not your fault, but then she'd be agreeing with him that he didn't belong. Life being hard here, she could say something about that. Life was always hard here, but he kept talking.
“I have never told anyone this before but I didn’t always look like this.I know some of the others heard what happened to me from the Professor before he died but I have never actually talked about my past with the others. " She wondered silently why he was telling her. She was no one special, she hadn't said anything that would cause him to confess anything. Maybe... maybe he just needed to get it out, to have someone listen. ASh understood that, Besty had done that for her many times. " When I was young I was a part of a very wealthy family. I had everything I ever wanted and was set to gain even more when I took control of my father’s company. Then on a birthday my wings first emerged, they where not these metallic things that you see before you, they where a very small pair of feathered wings." Ash's eyebrows shot up. She hadn't heard of something like that before, wings changing? That was definantly knew. " As the days went on my wings began to grow and in time I eventually had the wings of an angel. I was scared at first but eventually I learned how to fly with them and then I came to love them! Unfortunately I got caught on camera. Needless to say my parents where less then thrilled. They still loved me but we all knew my mutation would destroy my family."
Ash dropped her gaze from his face to his chest. She hadn't had the choice, hers had destroyed her family before she knew she was a mutant. Some people didn't understand how lucky they were. They always talked about how their mutation ruined their life, but they still had their families. " I wouldn’t let that happen. So when I was contacted by researchers from Apoc Labs who said they had a cure for mutants I immdeatly jumped at the chance. Little did I know that instead of curing me those monsters stole my angel wings and gave me these monstrous weapons. " Ash's hands tightened on his shoulders. They had cut off his wings? Cut them off, and replaced them! For what? Fun? Lab rats. Mutants were always lab rats. She couldn't imagine what it was like to loose your wings, but she knew... Her eyes began to glow green with anger. People had always experimented on them, always. It was why Ash found it so hard to help the x-men help humans. Because of what they had done to mutants, to Warren, to her… ” They turned my skin blue and made me their angel of death.” they even changed his skin color. That must have been horrible, being normal, well for a mutant, and then suddenly sticking out even among mutants, she didn’t even have to suffer that. ”I eventually got free and met the Professor and came to the mansion just before he died.”
Ash looked up at him, her eyes still glowed green, but pity was mixed in with anger. "I'm so sorry Warren." She truly was. SHe knew what he must have gone through in the lab, she knew how he felt about the proffessor. She felt some part of that as well. He had opened his home to her, that was what had saved her life. Magneto had freed her, but Xavier had saved her. Warren didn't let her say anything else, it was as if he wanted to get it all out. She could see a tear in his eye and she didn't intterupt him.
“The problem is I still don’t know what was done to me at that lab" Ash froze. He didn't know? He couldn't remember? Her jaw clenched, what had they done to him? They could have done anything. She could remember everything, every painful moment, and she had been a child at the time. It still haunted her dreams. If he couldn’t remember, did it haunt him? Her jaw clenched as he continued. “I don’t even feel like a normal person anymore, I feel this dark part of me in the back of my mind that I hold back almost everyday.” She knew how he felt. She had been the same for years afterward, Betsy had helped her with that. Sometimes, she still felt that way. She knew though, that whatever she did, she would always have a part of her that she held back. She would always have to, unless she wanted to hurt people again. She knew how Warren felt, though, his was different in a sense.
“I have to remind myself that I am Warren Worthington the third and not just the monster Archangel. Monster. The word rang through her head. He was echoing every thought, every feeling she had been forced to push past as a girl. Everything she had worked to break free of, so that she could be normal, live normally… He was fighting to remember who he was, and she… she had fought to forget her identity, because her old self was the monster in her life. “ I really felt like my soul died that day at Apoc Labs and now I am nothing more then a monster.
Ash was slowly shaking her head. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. He looked up to her? It wasn’t right. Oh poor Warren! He shouldn’t feel this way. “No Warren. You don’t have to apologize to me. If there is anyone in this school who understands It’s me. You were right about me, and I shouldn’t have jumped down your throat like that. It’s been a hard day for all of us.” She stopped, what could she say to him? Something glinted on the ground below, needles flashed around her and terror filled her heart as the white lab coat filled her vision Ash blinked. He spoke wistfully of remember, as if it would make everything better, maybe not physically, but it would make him whole again. She sighed, the green glow had left her eyes when he had apologized. “You know, remembering…It’s not all it’s cracked up to be. You might be better without the memories. You don’t have to relive everything they did to you. Because you will, it’ll never leave you.” She turned away from him and blinked quickly a few times. Why was she crying? She had absolutly nothing to cry about! Ok, so that was the understatement of the year, but at this moment she didn’t. She squinted down at the ground in an effort to distract herself. “ You’re not a monster Warren, any more than I am. Less than I am. Just because some idiots in lab coats changed you doesn’t mean your evil, or mean people will hate you. You’re a monster when you act like one. You think you are because that’s what humans have told you. That’s what they told me too, and like you, I fell for it. I gave in. I even thought I was better off locked up in a cell where they put me… It’s not true Warren, you need to understand that.”
She looked back at him, "Stress is easy to live with, believing your are an abomination, a killing machine, a lost soul, that is hard. You won't ever be happy with your life until you realize that what they did to you has no more bearing on your life than you let it. Think about it Warren, at least you can control your mutation. You have a choice on wether or not you're a monster, all they did was try to brainwash you, and so far it's worked. You need to get over that. They did terrible things to you, but they've done terrible things to a lot of people. Sometimes... sometimes those people deserved it." She paused before she could continue. She used to think that she deserved what was being done to her. It had taken a long time to get over that, but it was still there deep down.
"I am greatful that you believe in me, and that you trust me. Nothing means more to me than that... " She took a deep breath, "Trust comes hard after somethig like that. I know, and I know what you're going through Warren, perhaps more than you, because I remember." She pulled herself close to him in a sort of hug, as close to a hug as one could get when being carried in the air. When she pulled away, she sniffled a little and glanced over at the roof. "Do you want to go there?"

<I did nae even think of tha', Betsy. This is why ye are the brains of the relationship. What kin we do about it now?> Sean thought back to her, obviously distraught over his decision.
<Don't worry too much about it, darling. I contacted Sharon already and asked her to please stay in cat mode for now. Whether she can prevent the morphing at this stage or not is yet to be seen but there's nothing more that can be done without alerting Anna that something is up,> Betsy replied to him.
Remy's thoughts came to her next as he replied to her little image, <De t'ings I let you do ta me, Cher, de just mean.>
<I have a feeling you have a rather wicked imagination yourself, loverboy. I'm sure you could have just as easily conjured that up. So, are you going to go for it without running her over?> Betsy asked him. If he had seriously come into her life several years before, she probably would have jumped in bed with him almost immediately. He had that sort of charm and high risk adventure that she was always looking for and although their “romance” would have been quick, it would have been a blast. Of that, Betsy had no doubt.
The irony didn't escape her that she was now engaged to one of the most down to earth men she'd ever met. If opposites truly attracted, that must have been what brought them together. Brian was always telling her that if she let Sean get away, he was personally locking her up until Sean was convinced to come back. He'd never said that about anyone else she'd ever dated, and that had been after their first meeting. How her brother knew what she needed before she even did was beyond her. Probably some weird twin thing.
<The flight class was just a cover to get away from the group. When Agent Darkholme showed up I was afraid that there might be more Red Guard waiting in the wings for us. Explain to her that my flight class is a very tough class and I decided to give them the day off,> Warren thought to her as he realized his mistake.
<Luv, I know exactly what your little cover up was for but if you would have asked me before taking off, I could have told you that Agent Darkholme was alone. I've already told her that kids ditched you and she seemed to be fine with that,> Betsy replied with laughter in her telepathic voice. Warren really needed to chill out. Maybe should convince him sometime to get drunk. Betsy would love to see him loosen up a bit...
"Just figured since Ah didn't get to screen you before, might as well do it now,” Anna answered Sean when he told her about his cousin.
“Yes, I still say that Sean should look for him. Last they saw each other was what, almost twenty years or so ago? It was right after Sean's wife died back in Ireland. After all this time, why hold grudges? Life's too short and who knows. Maybe Tom's settled down with a wife and kids of his own now,” Betsy reasoned.
Then Anna turned to Remy and behind Anna's back, Betsy smirked. Oh, yeah, the Cajun was going to turn on the charm now. In a way, she envied Anna. As much as she loved Sean and would never cheat on him, she'd always wanted to know what a night with Remy LeBeau really was like.

"Just figured since Ah didn't get to screen you before, might as well do it now." Sean had to grin at that. He should have expected it, since Anna and Betsy were close friends. Although Brian, Betsy’s twin brother had taken to him right away, surprisingly enough.
“So, what else do ye need ta know? Height, weight, date of birth?” Sean teased. Then he heard Betsy responding in his head. It was a good thing he was used to telepathic speaking. It used to throw him off guard completely, but now it was totally natural. And it came in very handy sometimes, like now.
<Don't worry too much about it, darling. I contacted Sharon already and asked her to please stay in cat mode for now. Whether she can prevent the morphing at this stage or not is yet to be seen but there's nothing more that can be done without alerting Anna that something is up,> Sean thought back to her.
‘I think it’ll be all right, luv. We don’t want to give anythin’ away now. Although we should find some time ta celebrate our good news. I think Jean will want ta help plan the wedding, once we set a date.’
“Yes, I still say that Sean should look for him. Last they saw each other was what, almost twenty years or so ago? It was right after Sean's wife died back in Ireland. After all this time, why hold grudges? Life's too short and who knows. Maybe Tom's settled down with a wife and kids of his own now,” Sean almost laughed at that,
“Tom, settle down? I dinnae think so. There was only one woman he was ever that interested in.” And Sean refrained from mentioning that the woman in question had been Sean’s wife, Maeve. That wasn’t really a good topic of conversation.

Deep down in Warren's heart he knew that what Ash was saying was true. How could a man possibly learn to be happy if he couldn't even see himself as anything more then a monster? Despite everything he had been through Warren needed to learn to accept himself and move on. Too many people where counting on him, too many people trusted him with his life, would they do that for a monster?
"I am grateful that you believe in me, and that you trust me. Nothing means more to me than that... " "Trust comes hard after something like that. I know, and I know what you're going through Warren, perhaps more than you, because I remember."
Warren knew that Ash hadn't had an easy life, she truly was someone who understood his pain. Maybe with friends like her he really could to live again. When Ash hugged him it brought a smile to his face, trying to hug when one person was holding the other in the air wasn't the easiest thing to do.
"Do you want to go over there?"
Ash had gestured to a nearby roof. Warren forgot that most people where comfortable flying.
"Sure thing." With that Warren gently dipped his wings and they streaked softly towards the building. Warren flexed every muscle in his body in order to give a soft and gentle landing for the both of them. When both of them settled on the ground Warren slowly let Ash go. He turned to her and felt like a real weight had been lifted from his soul. A smile blossomed on his face and Warren felt like everything would be okay. Who knew an argument that had started over something stupid might have some good come from it. Warren looked up at the sun as a smile began to spread across his face. As he continued to look at this new world he spoke just two words to Ash, the most important words he had ever meant when he said them.
"Thank you."
There was a long pause before the blue skinned mutant could continue.
"Thank you Ash for being a true friend. For letting me know my place in this world and that I do have friends. If you ever need anything, just ask. Your strength and your courage have shown me the way to finding my way out of this nightmare."
As Warren turned he tucked his wings back in. He hugged Ash tightly.
"Thank you. Now, is this roof really where you wanna spend the rest of your day? I say when things finally get calmed down here we head into the city for a night on the town. I really think everyone here really needs to go have fun for once. What do you say?"

Storm entered the backyard, waving at a few of the student's who waved at her. A couple asked her if she'd entered thir grades yet and she smiled, telling them that she would tell them all their grades the next class. She slowly made er way over to the adults who were stnding around, Betsy, Sean, Remy and--
Well, she was new. What in the world was Anna doing here? The woman had left long ago, and she hadn't seen her since her last day at the mansion. Last she had heard the woman had joined up with her foster mother, and was doing God only knew what. Remy wasn't passing up the opprotunity to meet, greet and bed a new woman. She shot a questioning glance over at Betsy and Sean, before smiling at Anna, "Hello, dear, long time no see." She didn't want to interupt there conversation, though, unless Anna wanted to talk more in depth, so she eased in beside Betsy. "What did i miss? She asked the woman, indicating Anna's back. "Anything important?"

[Cross-posted with "Cyclops and Phoenix's Administrative Offices"]
<I believe you, luv. I really do and remember, he felt like Nathan to me as well but call me pessimistic. I have yet to see the child face to face and look into his eyes, so to speak. I just worry for you and Scott and don't want anything more to hurt you,> Betsy’s voice was sympathetic and Jean understood. She only wanted the best for Sean and Bets as well. It was difficult with all the potential hurt they could run into with Nathan being back. Jean replied, her heartfelt tone matching her best friends, < Thank you, Betsy. > It had hit them all hard when he ‘died,’ and they’d only had one another and the other staff to lean on.
Betsy’s tone changed and Jean could almost see her smirking, <I think it could actually work out to our advantage if Remy did wine and dine Anna. She'd be too busy to pay too close attention to the school. As soon as Anna is done out here, we'll be inside. She's grown up, Jean, but she is still the same Anna. Once the formalities are out of the way, this could actually be fun.> There was no doubt in her mind that Remy would try to wine and dine Anna. Every new of-age female that entered the premises was sized up and given the once over. Jean didn’t even need to look to know he was doing it. It was just Remy’s thing. And whoever had his attention at that particular moment never seemed to mind, not that Jean would expect them to. Remy was quite the charmer when he wanted to be, which was just about all the time.
< Are there plans for a night on the town tonight then? > Jean teased lightly, wondering if Betsy and Anna were going to try to convince her to come along. When they had all been single and things weren’t as involved as they were now with Scott, the three girls had a lot of fun nights scouring the city. Then Anna left, things with Scott progressed, and the battle worsened—Jean shook her head free of the thoughts. It was nice to have a night off once in a while, but with everything going on, they might not be able to go on one for a while.

"Sure thing." Ash gripped Warren a little tighter as he gently swooped toward the roof. He seemed to be.. different after her speech. She didn't know what it was that had caused that, but something had. She'd have to remember to thank Besty later for drilling that stuff into her. It came in very handy sometimes, and with the people you'd least expect too. Warren of all people, Ash would never have guessed that. Of course, now she understood why he was always so stiff. It made her regret the many times she had teased him. She hadn't known then.
Warren landed gently on the roof and let her go. Ash took a step back and brushed strands of hair out of her eyes. She'd probably have to redo her pony tail soon if she took many more flights. When she looked up Warren was smiling with his head tilted back. Smiling.. when was the last time she'd seen Warren smile? She'd never seen him look so happy before.
She was right! Ha! Hell was freezing over. THis was a dream. It wasn't real. She'd wake up, Warren would be the same as ever, the cat wouldn't be a mutant, Her students wouldn't be failing, and the dead would NOT be here and alive.
Thank you.
Awwwww... *sniff* never mind. It wasn't a dream. The emotion that filled those two words made everything that happened this day worth it. She knew that emotion. It was freedom. That was worth anything. Ash blinked quickly as her eyes began to water. Stupid sun. Yes that's right, it was the sun's fault, just blame it on the sun.
Thank you Ash for being a true friend. For letting me know my place in this world and that I do have friends. If you ever need anything, just ask. Your strength and your courage have shown me the way to finding my way out of this nightmare.
True friend? Weren't they just fighting? She blushed a little as he complimented her, still trying to blink water out of her eyes. He was the strangest person. She just didn't know how to act around him. He was never this soft before.
As Warren turned he tucked his wings back in. He hugged Ash tightly.
Ok... She definintely said something right. She hugged him back a little ackwardly. She wasn't good at this kind of thing. THat's why she'd never gotten married and never had kids.. ok well not the whole reason, but it was part of it. She smiled a little as she thought about the many things she would do to Gambit if he ever got this close to her without asking first.
and if he did ask...
"Don't thank me Warren... I had a great teacher. THank Besty." Yeah, Besty was good with this. She could handle the new and improved Warren better than Ash could.
Now, is this roof really where you wanna spend the rest of your day? Truthfully? Yes. Nothing bad happened so far up on the roof. That was about the only place to. She was safe so far... well except for Warren, but technically that hapened in the air. so yes the roof was perfect! I say when things finally get calmed down here we head into the city for a night on the town. I really think everyone here really needs to go have fun for once. What do you say?
Ash could have kissed the man, if she had been a different person. That as the last thing she'd thought he would say, but it was a wonderful suggestion. "Warren... Your an angel. tHat's the best suggestion I've heard all day. "
She grinned and felt a little better, "Now... How do I get down from here?"

<I have a feeling you have a rather wicked imagination yourself, loverboy. I'm sure you could have just as easily conjured that up. So, are you going to go for it without running her over?> Oh so now she doubted Remy. He smiled devilishly from behind Anna. < Ah could hit her wit' a truck and still seal dis deal. > That was probably an exaggeration, or maybe a challenge. That would be interesting. She's laid up in the hospital. He comes strutting in wearing a pair of scrubs and carrying flowers. That was an experiment he could explore some other time though. He'd had a small thing for Rogue since the first time they locked horns in the Danger Room. And as realistic as the holograms looked and felt, there were certain things the computer couldn't simulate.
Anna didn't so much as take another step when Remy pulled up close to her, just raised an eyebrow. It was the perfect reaction. She obviously was scared of him or she would have moved, perhaps even hit him. And the intrigued look told him she was receptive. "Ash said your name was Remy? That right?" She said as she turned to look at him. His gaze moved from Betsy to Rogue and held out his hand. Normally he would just grab it, but he knew her powers and didn't want any surprises. "Dat's right, Remy Lebeau." And that was all she needed to know. Being a government agent, she could probably trudge all kinds unpleasantness under the Lebeau name. He was actually surprised Scott and Jean hadn't had him checked yet. As usual it was best to keep his family ties vague.

She glanced down at the extended hand briefly, before reaching out herself and grasping his hand firmly in her own gloved one. "Dat's right, Remy Lebeau." Not letting her surprise actually show, she blinked a few times mentally. Lebeau. Damn, was everyone at this school related to one of the Marauders? It could be a coincidence. Or maybe this was some kind of karmic punishment for her rifling through the files in the first place. Or both.
Before she could say anything more, Ororo made her entrance. "Hello, dear, long time no see." Turning (and completely forgetting to let go of Remy's hand), she smiled. "Hey, 'Roro. Yeah, too long." She hadn't been as close to Storm as she had to Jean and Betsy, but they'd been friends nonetheless. And it was really starting to look like everyone was still in great shape. All that worrying for nothing. Turning back to Remy, she looked down at their hands and then back up at him with a smile, pulling her hand away. "My name's Anna Marie. Most folks call me Rogue, though. Less of a mouthful."
She was rambling. Dammit. She always rambled like that. No one cared about her stupid little code name or what she thought was easier to say. Get to the point. "Anyway. Ah gotta interview a couple of teachers privately, so when Ah'm done meeting with the Headmasters, Ah'm coming lookin' for you." She glanced down at her forms, frowning. She might actually have to interview him. Other than the winged wonder, he seemed to be just about the only teacher there that she didn't know. Glancing toward the building, she looked back up at him. "So... you know, clean off your desk or whatever you gotta do to make room."
Make room for all the paperwork they'd be filling out. Of course. Stepping to the side a bit, she craned her neck to look at Betsy, grinning. "You think they're done hiding all the inciminating shit in there yet?"
Like Scotty boy would actually have something to hide from the government. Jean might, but knowing Scott, the second he found out about it, he'd phone it in. Then again, she didn't really know Scott anymore. Or Jean. Or any of them for that matter. But for the most part, people seemed quite the same. Except older. And more married. She shook her head, still looking at Betsy. Betsy was engaged. That was about the very last thing she'd expected. Betsy. Huh.

<I think it’ll be all right, luv. We don’t want to give anythin’ away now. Although we should find some time ta celebrate our good news. I think Jean will want ta help plan the wedding, once we set a date,> Sean thought back to her.
Betsy did her best not to grimace at that. Actually setting a date and getting married was a much bigger step then she was ready to do at this point. Couldn't he just be happy she was wearing his ring? Considering the circumstance he had proposed in, he was lucky she had even considered the proposal. Betsy didn't reply to his telepathic comment, instead concentrating on what he was saying about Tom and Maeve. Well, at least Betsy knew about Maeve but still, Tom could have moved on. That was a long time ago and Sean had moved on so why not Tom?
Jean replied back in her mind and Betsy was relieved that she didn't sound as upset with her as she was a few minutes ago. < Thank you, Betsy. > she replied with heartfelt emotion. Betsy replied with what could only be called a mental hug. Then Jean lightened things up and asked, < Are there plans for a night on the town tonight then? >
Betsy laughed mentally and replied, <Only if Remy hasn't completely seduced her yet, which will be happening any moment from the vibes those two are emitting. > Then Betsy hesitated, knowing this wasn't the best of times but she had to say something. <Besides, we both have kids to watch after now. You have Nathan and I have Sharon,> she said wryly. Then she gave Jean a shortened mental version of what had happened in the War Room that morning. <As soon as we bring Anna to you, I'm going to find Sharon and see if I can't get to the bottom of this whole thing.>
At that point, Storm joined them and greeted Anna before stopping next to her and asking, "What did i miss? She asked the woman, indicating Anna's back. "Anything important?"
Betsy shook her head and said, “Not too much. The government finally sent Anna to do our annual unannounced inspection and we've been getting caught up. Ten years is a long time to catch up on.”
Once Anna finally pulled her attention away from Remy, not that Betsy could blame her, just looking at the man could get a woman's blood pumping, she turned to Betsy and said, "You think they're done hiding all the incriminating shit in there yet?"
With a laugh, Betsy replied, “I don't know, let find out.” With great drama, Betsy put her hands to the sides of her head as if she were communicating with someone and quickly said to Jean, <We are on our way in.> Removing her hands, she grinned at Anna and added, “Yep, the coast is clear. Shall we?”
Then she locked her arm through Anna's and led the other woman inside and to Cyclops and Phoenix's Office.

Sean was not surprised when Betsy did not respond to his last remark. He remembered how long it had taken him to get her to agree to even date him. That had taken years. He hoped it wouldn’t take that long for her to settle on a day for the wedding. He thought for a few moments about how he’d planned for tonight to go. Planned being the operative word. Those plans had gone out the window with all the chaos.
Then Ororo joined them in the back yard, wondering what was going on.
“Not too much. The government finally sent Anna to do our annual unannounced inspection and we've been getting caught up. Ten years is a long time to catch up on.” Of course Betsy didn’t mention their engagement. Even though Ororo would find out soon enough. Sean grinned at Storm, she’d discover the news quickly. He stage whispered to Ororo,
“She said yes!”
Then Betsy and Anna headed into the mansion. Sean walked in behind them.
