Okay, I need to get this off my chest. Call this a list of RPG board etiquette guidelines. Anyway here we go.
1. Admins, moderator, game masters, storytellers, what have you, DO NOT have to run games. They are putting their time and effort into creating a fun place for us all to play. This entitles them to some things. For one thing, our respect. It is very poor form to post insults against or demands from the admins and mods on a public forum for ANY reason. Doing so is not only disrespectful to the admins and mods, but also to the other players. Admins and mods understand that there will be disagreements, but subjecting the entire board to a whining fit over some ruling, is unfair and rude. Take it to PM's.
2. Treat your fellow players with respect as well. Don't insult them on public forums either. If you have a problem with another player, PM them and try to work it out between yourselves. If you can't, and you feel you have been wronged in way that breaks the rules, PM a moderator and ask for a ruling. Debate it if you think the ruling is unfair, but once again, be polite and do it in PM's.
3. Playing on someone else's board is a privilege, not a right. Don't make demands for changes or explanations on public boards. If you don't like a rule, or something moderators have done enough that you feel you must make a statement, PM them about it. Or leave. Once again, respect is the key here.
4. Never, EVER post an OOC comment involving the word bored. Especially in conjunction with the word waiting and definitely not in response to waiting on an application approval. No matter how innocent your intentions may be, there no way of telling whether you are being whiny and impatient or just trying to scare up a conversation. If you want to chit chat, there are places for that on every board. Chit chat. Never say 'I'm bored.' That implies you expect the people reading to entertain you. And this is not their job.
5. Post a long enough post that you give the other players something to work with. Even if your character doesn't say anything, talk about he/she feels, thinks, ecetera. Never post a one liner. Four lines is probably too short. Give as much detail as you can.
6. If your thread slows down unexpectedly, politely PM the other players involved and make certain someone is not accidentally waiting on you or vice versa. This kind of misunderstanding is commonplace and can be easily solved. Once again, be polite.
7. If you are going to be gone for an extended period of time and can at all give warning do so. Never come back from a long, unannounced hiatus and expect to taken back with open arms unless you have a really good reason. If not, notify people as soon as you can so that they can tell the admins and NPCing and other things can be done.
8. All in all, be polite and courteous to everyone as possible. People will disagree but if everyone keeps their heads and acts like adults, problems can be dealt with without dragging the whole board into every little disagreement. It's called common courtesy people.
Feel free to add to this list if you wish. I may have overlooked a few things.
