Rusty had been sitting in the restaurant with Sharon, wondering if Sabastian and Jono were ever going to join them. He couldn't help glancing around nervously, feeling really out of place in a fancy restaurant like this despite all the practice he'd had at the Massachusetts Academy. Food had been...complicated. Not that she wasn't a wonderful person but Sharon was just about as out of place in this setting as he was and it had taken them forever to manage to order bacon and eggs. Why on earth was everything in French?
The food had arrived moments ago and it was...elaborate. Eggs like one of those strange post modern statues and bacon wrapped around the leaning tower of yolk. Bizarre. Rich people were crazy. Rusty was almost not game to touch it, just in case it either exploded or a man in a suit came and billed him for destroying a priceless artwork. But his hunger was getting the better of him. Reaching out with his fork, he pried a piece of bacon from the egg, tasting it cautiously.
Damn that was good bacon.
Moving a little more confidently now, he started breaking the complicated dish apart, prying the decorative meat off the centerpiece. Damn this was good food. He had hoped would have been worth the huge amount of money it was costing Emma and it seemed it would be.
He spotted Jono wandering into the restaurant, eyes looking around the room and raised his arm waving "Hey! Jono! Over here!"

Chamber entered the restaurant, and almost immediately Rusty called out to him. He crossed to the table, eyeing the dish on the kid's plate. It looked vaguely like eggs and bacon. He sat down, holding up a hand and shaking his head at the approaching waiter. Although he was fairly certain the staff of the Hellfire Club were well paid enough not notice anything odd about their patrons, he still felt uncomfortable 'talking' around strangers. Especially since he'd learned of the Mutant Registration Act.
If he had to 'speak' in public, he would give them al away. Maybe an outing wasn't such a bloody great idea, considering the anti-mutant atmosphere, but he'd suggested this outing. He would just have to be careful and hoped these kids could fake knowing sign language if he needed to 'speak' to other people.
he turned his attention back to Rusty's breakfast, shaking his head. < Terrible bloody way to treat a poor egg, > he joked. < Mum says to go ahead with our plans without that tosser Forge. Anyplace in particular you'd like to go? I'd prefer to stick to outdoor places. I look bloody conspicuous indoors with my face covered. >
He let out a long mental sigh. The mute burn victim act again. God, he bloody well hated that. But he'd do it to protect the Hellions. < And if anybody does ask, I'm a burn victim who's bloody face and vocal cords were burned beyond any use. I use sign language if people ask me questions on the street. If you don't know it, I can tell you what I'm saying. You and Sabastian are going to have to be my translators. Any questions? >

" None at all" He said quietly sitting down next to Sharon " You?" He asked Sharon and Rusty. He hadn't been that far behind Jono, just far enough for him to have gotten over the shock of Jono's last comment to him. He looked at Rusty's meal and made a face, " What did you do to it? Smells good though." He ignored manners and forked himself a bite of Rusty's plate. " It is."
He looked over at Sharon considering what it was that they would do, " I do recall however, discussing the fact that we would visit Sharon's place. She got me rather excited about it, so I think we should go there first." He didn't explain the real reason why, but he locked eyes with Chamber and thought as loudly as he could, She seemed to really want to go He'd either get the message or not. " After that, I don't care where we go. Have you ever been to the city before Rusty? If you have we can skip the big attractions, if you haven't, those are easily seen," Sabastian waved over a waiter and and pointed to Rusty's dish, " I'll have one of those." The waiter left, looking a little disgruntled at the lack of proper respect or tradition or both. Sabastian didn't care though.
He looked back at the others, " Oh yes, Madame said to be nice, lay low, and stick together. She doesn't want us getting in trouble, though I think she's asking rather a lot with this group so if you do get in trouble, keep it small so she doesn't hear about it. Because if she does it'll be Jono's head. He's supposed to mind us." Sabastian grinned wickedly at Jono, he was not going to let the other man live down the babysitting them.

She poked at her food, half paying attention to the conversations around her. She was more interested in deciding exactly what it was that she was eating. She still hadn't taken a bite, a little bit too worried that when she did it would turn out to be poisonous or something. So instead, she had continued to dig through it. Finally, she decided that the pancakes at least were safe enough. She reached across the table and lifted up the small pitcher of syrup. Smelling it, she wrinkled her nose. There was something unusual about it. It was probably just a different brand than she was used to, but that was enough for her. "Is wrong."
Setting it aside, she ate the pancakes plain, trying to get back into the conversation. "Teacher would take Jono's head?" It was the last thing that she had heard, and she wanted to make sure that she'd heard it clearly.

It somewhat belatedly occured to Rusty that yelling across the room in a fancy restaurant was not the most brilliant plan ever but by then it was a moot point. Jono had heard him anyway and was making his way over through the tables, Sabastian following closely behind.
< Terrible bloody way to treat a poor egg, > he joked.
"Your telling me." Rusty replied, forgetting that no-one else could hear Jono. Not that anyone should be listening but this was a bunch of crazy rich people. You never knew what they were going to do next.
< Mum says to go ahead with our plans without that tosser Forge. Anyplace in particular you'd like to go? I'd prefer to stick to outdoor places. I look bloody conspicuous indoors with my face covered. >
Damn that was weird, how Jono kept calling Ms. Frost "Mum". The idea of Emma having children freaked Rusty out.
None at all" [Sabastian] said quietly sitting down next to Sharon " You?"
"I don't really know much about New York." Rusty admitted a little shyly. He did not actually want to feel like the hick kid in the big city but that was basically what it was.
" What did you do to it? Smells good though." He ignored manners and forked himself a bite of Rusty's plate. " It is."
Raising his eyebrows at the other boy (he may be a bit woodsy but he knew that wasn't polite) Rusty said "It's eggs and bacon. I think. Its French."
I do recall however, discussing the fact that we would visit Sharon's place. She got me rather excited about it, so I think we should go there first."
Sabastian suggested and Rusty hurriedly nodded in agreement. He didn't actually know where he wanted to go so if Sharon wanted to go somewhere special, then he'd go along with it.
" After that, I don't care where we go. Have you ever been to the city before Rusty? If you have we can skip the big attractions, if you haven't, those are easily seen," Sabastian waved over a waiter and and pointed to Rusty's dish, " I'll have one of those."
Sabastian was really at home in this place, the restaurant and the Club and New York in general. It was kind of...kind of a barrier. He wasn't exactly bosom buddies with the guy at the Academy, although they got along fine, but it was the kind of thing that made Rusty a little nervous. "No, I've never been here before in my life." He mumbled out quickly, nearly forgetting Sabastian had even asked a question. Why did he have to get stupid when he was nervous? He hated that.
< And if anybody does ask, I'm a burn victim who's bloody face and vocal cords were burned beyond any use. I use sign language if people ask me questions on the street. If you don't know it, I can tell you what I'm saying. You and Sabastian are going to have to be my translators. Any questions? >
Oh yes, Madame said to be nice, lay low, and stick together.
They were being minded? He knew Jono had come along to sort of be their token adult while Emma was gone but he hadn't really thought of it as being minded. "I don't know sign language." Rusty said. He just wanted to make sure Jono knew since it would look pretty odd if they were just standing there gaping while he did the hand-waving thing.
Sharon had seemed to be a little out of it for the last little while, not paying a great deal of attention to the conversation and sniffing the syrup, pushing it aside muttering about how it was wrong. "Teacher would take Jono's head?" She asked, a little puzzled. Letting Sabastian or Jono answer that, Rusty scooped up the last of his eggs, having demolished the entire...structure (with the exception of the forkful Sabastian had stolen.)

Jono listened to the small talk between Rusty and Sabastian as they discussed what he'd brought up. Sharon just sort of half-listened, fretting over the syrup and picking at her food. Then he heard Dark Matter jibe. " Oh yes, Madame said to be nice, lay low, and stick together. She doesn't want us getting in trouble, though I think she's asking rather a lot with this group so if you do get in trouble, keep it small so she doesn't hear about it. Because if she does it'll be Jono's head. He's supposed to mind us."
Sharon chose that moment to decide to begin listening to the conversation again. She looked between the three of them, confusion on her face. "Teacher would take Jono's head?"
Chamber let out a long mental sigh and palmed his face, shaking his head slightly. < Yes, what's left of it anyway, > he replied wryly. < Probably mount it on the bloody wall in her office, next to that wanker Forge's when she's done with both of us. > He paused and decided for Sharon's sake to stop the morbid joking. < But seriously, it's too bloody dangerous for us to make ourselves too visible. So let's try to keep the chaos to a minimum, right? >
He saw that Sharon was almost done with her pancakes and Rusty had finally finished his egg sculpture. Jono turned his attention to Sabastian. < So, are you going to have something, or should we be our way? >

( sorry for the gmod at the end but I really want to get this thread moving)
It's eggs and bacon. I think. Its French
" It is, French I mean." Sabastian said quietly. He had never told them that his family was French, it was that whole hiding thing that he had clung to. but the food reminded him of his mother's cooking. He let the thought go as the conversation continued around him. He heard Rusty's last comment unaware that he'd actually asked Rusty something
No, I've never been here before in my life.
Well that was wonderful, ah but if they ran out of things to do it would give them something to look at to show Rusty around. He nooded, " Then I'm sure Sharon and I can figure out how to show you the sites if that's what you want to do. There are some pretty impressive ones. I used to love going to some as a kid. Though I would avoid the Statue of Liberty, it's usually packed and the wait is horrendous, and the view is not that desirable." He shook his head remember his one trip up, he'd never wanted to go back. Once was definantly enough.
He laughed silently as Jono answered Sharons question. He had forgotten that she might not understand and was thankful that he didn't have to explain himself. However the situation reminded him how serious things could get if they weren't careful, and he sobered up a bit. As soon or before they left the hotel he needed his New York mind working. Too many things could happen in the city, and you didn't have to be a mutant for those things to happen. Rusty's answer to the signlanguage thing wasn't reassuring but it couldn't be helped so Sabastian didn't show any dissapointment, " That's ok man, signlanguage is easy enough, just do things with your hands that make the most sense for what your trying to say. If we get into trouble though, I know it well enough to get by."
H e blinked as Jono turned his attention toward him, but was saved from answering as the waiter came at that moment and set his dish before Sabastian. It was the beautifully done French dish that Rusty's should have look like. Sabastian raised and eyebrow in answer then set a napkin in his lap and began eating. It didn't take long. The dish wasn't that big, and by the time he had finished with his food Sharon was done. Food payed for a check recieved Sabastian stood up jacket in hand, " You guys ready?"

She frowned, still confused. No matter, though. They were going to go to the park! As soon as Sabastian was done, she jumped up, ready to go. The food had been alright, the syrup thing was a little odd, but she was able to deal. Stepping aside to let the others stand up, she moved toward the door. "To park or to else?"
She was really itching to get back to her park, but if they stopped somewhere else first, she'd be okay with that, too. Of course, she might be a little jumpy. So the Art museum was probably a bad idea.

((OOC- Fear the crappiness! Sorry, just wasn't happening))
Rusty sat pretty quietly through the rest of Sabastian's meal, not bothering to steal any food for the prior offence. Revenge would come when he was hungry and there was other food available. He'd had his fill of bacon and eggs, French style, for today.
Sabastian didn't really seem that eager to see the sights of New York and Rusty couldn't really blame him. He sounded like he'd seen them all and done them all already and Rusty couldn't really ask him to go back to a whole bunch of places that weren't really interesting for him. Apparently he was still going to try though, which was pretty nice of him.
" You guys ready?" Sabastian asked, standing up and Rusty stood with him. "Yep." He announced, a little excited. "Lets go see New York."
"To park or to else?" Sharon asked and Rusty just blinked at her. The others were the ones with the plan, he was just following along playing tourist.

Chamber was glad when Sabastian finished eating. He knew it looked right strange for them to be eating, and him just sitting there, not saying anything. Dark Matter stood up and looked at them all. "You guys ready?"
Rusty was the first one to reply. "Yep," he agreed, sounding fairly enthusiastic. "Lets go see New York." Jono stood up as well, more than ready to be on their way.
Sharon was already halfway to the door when she looked back at the table. "To park or to else?" she asked.
Jono let out a dry mental chuckle, restricting it to just the Hellions' minds. < The park sounds lovely, kitten, > he agreed, catching up and opening the restaurant door. < Shall we, mates? >
As he followed the others out of the restaurant, he let out a long mental sigh and cast his dark eyes heavenwards. He prayed silently that nothing bad happen on this trip. If they got into trouble, there was no way he could help the Hellions without revealing himself to be a mutant. And that happening could be much worse than just getting mugged.
