Illyana rolled her eyes at the people milling about. Didn't seem very organized, this little place of theirs. Anna seemed to have found some people to talk to. Good. Splendid. Then she could leave.
"Thanks, girl. Ah owe you one."
Shaking her head, Illyana brushed hair out of her eyes, following the movements of some of the people in the yard. She wondered how strong Magneto's grip over this group of mutants was. After all, they were here rather than with him. What had made them special enough to deserve their own school? It wasn't as though they wouldn't have been welcome in the Genosan Academy. Oh well, curiosity and the cat, after all.
"If you need me, just let him know through the com badge," she said, unsure as to whether Anna would even hear her. "I'll be waiting." Without even waiting for a reply, she summoned a stepping disc. As the yellow light washed over her, she saw a rather pale girl come up and begin chattering to Anna. Then she was thankfully whisked away before being forced to endure chitchat.

((Enter from the Kitchen/Dining Room))
When she had been with them here at Xavier's, Anna Marie, Jean and Betsy had been inseperable. They'd learned how to master their abilities together and drove the guys crazy although Jean had already been claimed by Scott. That didn't stop Anna and Betsy from dragging her out to have fun with them while they scoped out the prospects in town. Anna had left them just before the war started, her mother calling her home with the rumors of a possible war and it turned out that her mother had been working with Magneto and wanted Anna by her side. That was the last any of them had seen her but they had known all about her progress into the Red Guard through their few contacts within the “system”.
Anna's mind was never easy to read due to the number of psyches located in it so Betsy didn't even try. She was afraid Anna would notice. Instead, she concentrated on sending Scott a message. <Scott, Anna Marie is here in full Red Guard costume. Sean is securing the sub-basement. Right now she's talking to Remy, Ash, Warren and Katherine Pryde. I'm about to go greet her. Shall we meet in your study?> She didn't apologize for the crappy timing, there was nothing that could be done about it anyway.
Stepping out into the sunshine, she found the little group immediately. Walking casually to them, she looked upon Anna for the first time in over a decade. She had grown beautifully, her body well toned, her hair and face immaculate. She had great posture and exuded confidence. Charles would have been proud of her even if that training had come from Magneto's military. Approaching the group, she smiled and said, “Hello, Anna.”

Kitty looked like she had seen a ghost whenever Remy asked if she got lonely. He idly wondered if it was him or the question that scared her some much? Remy didn’t have a reputation as a ‘caring’ teacher, more like the ‘party’ teacher, the ‘we get to skip class because he’s hungover’ teacher. Maybe that’s what caused her reaction. And it wouldn’t be completely off base either. Remy was the party teacher, which is probably why he taught gym and computer courses, but he had come to care about the kids over the past few months. He liked his role at the school in ways he never imagined. That was why he hadn’t jumped ship yet.
“Sometimes,” Kitty admitted, “but it's not as horrible as you are thinking. I'm sort of used to it by now.” ‘Sort of used to it?’ Remy wasn’t a scholar by any means, but he knew people. You don’t get used to something unless it’s a problem. You get used to things like not having a home, and moving from place to place. You don’t get used to having fun, just enjoy it. Remy was about to say something to her when he caught to people appear in the corner of his eye. His head snapped toward the two…Red Guard members? Rogue and Magik, two of the prettier members of the guard. A smile came across Remy’s face as he looked back at Kitty. “Lemme ask ya sometin,’ do ya enjoy readin’ dose books, or do ya just get used to it?” Standing up, Remy began walking toward the newcomers, but turned around and addressed Kitty once more. “You t’ink about dat.”
He only had to walk a short distance to meet Rogue, who was also moving toward him. Magik wasn’t so enthusiastic and Remy didn’t like the look on face. She looked like trouble. "Hey. Ah'm here from Genosha, time for the school's little government check up... is the headmaster around?" Government check up, damn. Hopefully, the resident telepaths already knew what was going on and were locking up the basements. Until then, Remy would just have to distract the lovely lady. The things he did for the XMen. Smiling, Remy replied “Well, remind me ta t’ank de gove’ment. Our headmasters are a little swamped right now, but if dere’s anyt’ing I can help you wit, I be happy ta.”
As Remy was speaking, they were suddenly rushed by almost every XMan and woman in the mansion. Real smooth, a government agent shows up and they flock to her like fat people to a twinkie factory. First Warren, then Ash, even Betsy. She at least had to know how suspicious this looked. He half expected one of them to come out next wearing their uniform.

The older, somewhat more teacherly one of the pair started toward her, grinning like an idiot. An admittedly cute idiot, but an idiot nonetheless. “Well, remind me ta t’ank de gove’ment. Our headmasters are a little swamped right now, but if dere’s anyt’ing I can help you wit, I be happy ta.” So, a cute Cajun idiot. She opened her mouth to respond, when a somehwat preppy, blue man approached and practically pushed the Cajun out of the way. She looked at the first man, raising her eyebrow. Was he just going to take that? No matter.
"Welcome to the Xavier Institue. I'm Warren, unfortunately our headmaster is currently bust but if you would come with me I'm sure we can go get this inspection started Miss...?" Oh, great. The official tour guide. Wonderful, just what she needed. "Darkholme. Agent Darkholme, and as much fun as that sounds, Ah'd much rather..." She turned at the sound of her codename, semi-recognizing the voice, but not entirely being able to think of the name that went with it. "What are you doing here?" She kept on trying to remember what the girl's name was. It was weird, one of the codenames but not a real name kind of deals. Just like she'd been for the first part of her stay, when she refused to let anyone even get close enough to her to know her name. "It's nice to see you again. A surprise I must say, but a pleseant one. I don't know if you remember me... I'm Ash." Ash, that's right... She smiled. "Wow. You look... a lot older. How've you been? Still alive, Ah see."
"If you need me, just let him know through the com badge. I'll be waiting." She turned and nodded to Illyana, giving her a mock salute before starting to turn back. She only got to half-turn, when an incredibly familiar voice greeted her. “Hello, Anna.” Turning, she grinned (looking much more the idiot than Gambit had) and dropped her bag, as well as any dignity that she had as she practically flew at Betsy, giving her a hug. Stepping away from her, she completely forgot about the other people in the yard. "Elisabeth Braddock. Never thought Ah'd see you again." She frowned for a minute. There was something different. Taking a few steps back, she looked her over, finally zeroing in on what it was. There was a ring on her finger. On her left hand. Looking back at her friend's face, she raised an eyebrow. "Something you want to tell me?"

Warren was shocked at the number of people who had suddenly arrived from seemingly thin air since Agent Darkholme had arrived. He listened as everyone else introduced themselves and all these people instantly made him start to feel crowded.
"Not to be rude but I have a flight class that I am going to be late for a flight class. Once again Agent Darkholme welcome to the Xavier Institute and I hope you find everything to your liking."
As Warren walked away he instantly shot a thought to Betsy.
<I'm going to head up top for a while Betsy, try and appreciate the "view" with my class, if you need me you know how to find me.>
Warren moved away a safe distance before his wings snapped free and with a powerful thrust he leapt into the air. Within moments he was barely a glimmer in the sky. Warren instantly used his enhanced vision to begin searching for any signs of trouble, especially anybody trying to sneak up on the Institute.

Wow. You look... a lot older. How've you been? Still alive, Ah see."
Ash grinned, " Well... the age would account for the years that have passed, it's been quite a few yah know, and I'm alive because without me no one would take the mickey out of the cajun here." Rogue didn't get a chance to reply because her partner bade her goodbye and disappeared into thin air. Then right on cue, Besty showed up.
Rogue dropped her bags and threw herself into Besty's arms. Ash smiled, that was right. Rogue and Besty went way back, they were friends before Ash had come to the mansion. That was probably why Ash had actually talked to Rogue the few times she had, because she hung out with Besty. Warren ruined the happy moment by excusing himself, and before Ash could stop him, he flew off. Ash cursed him silently for his quick retreat because she knew that she'd never talk to him now. She tried to think of when she would see him again, and couldn't come up with it. Ah well... So much for that plan. She'd probably end up fighting it out with him later.
Rogue pulled away from Besty and looked her up and down then asked quietly if Besty had something to tell her. Ash followed her gaze to the ring on Besty's finger. "No way!" she said, "He asked you? He finally asked you?" She paused as a huge grin split across her face at the thought, and then she looked even more shocked as something else occured to her, " And you said yes?!" This was absolutly crazy. Besty had never ever wanted to get married or have kids or anything.
Finally she turned and looked at Gambit, "Well Cajun... that leaves you and me." She paused and tried to look thoughtful for a moment, " I think we should start a 'Staffer's against marraige' support group, what do ya say?"

Betsy had to hold back a grin as Remy walked toward Anna with a lovesick grin on his face. It was certainly a new one, replacing the lecherous one he usually wore when looking to snag a woman for the night. Not able to resist just a tiny jab, besides, she was entitled, without her, he wouldn't have his cushy job, Betsy projected to him alone, <I do hope you haven't scarred dear Katherine for life, Remy.>
As she greeted Anna, the other woman turned around and Betsy thought for sure she was going to squeal, and Anna dropped everything to run to into her arms. As she embraced her dear friend who had been gone for so long, Betsy relaxed. It was obvious that no matter what official business Anna was here on, she was still the same wonderful, fun and caring person that had left when her mother called her away. "Elisabeth Braddock. Never thought Ah'd see you again,” Anna greeted her as she pulled away.
“Nor I, you, Anna. You are looking very well. I see that life in the military has certainly agreed with you. How have you been?” Betsy asked ask her. At the same time, Warren took his leave and shot her a message, <I'm going to head up top for a while Betsy, try and appreciate the "view" with my class, if you need me you know how to find me.>
Once again, not resisting temptation at all, Betsy “replied” to him, <Warren, darling, you have no idea just how much I appreciate your view.> Sure, it would probably go right over his head as most anything she said did but it was still fun to try and ruffle his “feathers”.
Anna was looking at her strangely and finally focused on the ring that Betsy had forgotten to remove before stepping outside. She'd been too caught off guard by both Sean's oddly timed proposal and Anna'a arrival that she simply forgot. "Something you want to tell me?"
Before Betsy could reply, Ash must have noticed the same thing as she blurted out, "No way! He asked you? He finally asked you? And you said yes?!"
Betsy knew what Ash was thinking because how many times had she told the other woman she was never going to get married? Granted, how many times had she told Sean that very same thing yet there she was, wearing his ring. With the way she did things, though, they'd probably be engaged for the next ten years before she would actually agree to a wedding. Why rush something that was working perfectly well already?
“Yes, he caught me in a moment of weakness and I actually agreed,” Betsy said with a grin. It was the absolute truth, too.
"Well Cajun... that leaves you and me. I think we should start a 'Staffer's against marraige' support group, what do ya say?" Ash asked the man she had just been giving dirty looks to earlier that morning in the kitchen.
Betsy spoke up and said, “Don't forget Warren. That man broods too much to notice anything female in his vicinity so I think 'bachelor' for life is the perfect role for him.” Looking back at Anna, she gave her another quick hug and said, “Do you know how much Jean and I have missed you? After you left, I had no one to help me drag her into town to scope the guys out. She was all to happy to sit here and play with Scott.”

Mr. LeBeau gave her a funny look then glanced to the side as two people came into their view. Kitty knew by their uniforms that they were members of the Red Guard, probably here for the school's inspection. She'd been through two of them in the time she'd lived there and usually they were no big deal. Mr. LeBeau looked back at her and said, “Lemme ask ya sometin,’ do ya enjoy readin’ dose books, or do ya just get used to it? You t’ink about dat.”
He didn't wait for her answer, just stood up and walked over to the women. Kitty thought about what he'd said. Of course she loved reading, she'd always loved reading and there was nothing wrong with it. Was there? Shaking her head, Kitty stood up and walked toward the mansion. Her quiet reading spot was suddenly alive with activity as Mr. Worthington, Ms. Ash and even Ms. Braddock showed up. No, there was nothing wrong with her life. It wasn't like anyone was went out of their way to befriend her and that was just fine.
Deciding that Mr. LeBeau hadn't proved anything to her, Kitty walked into the mansion to let the adults deal with the Red Guard inspection.

Remy caught a look from Rogue as Warren jumped in front of him, like she expected a brawl to break out. He learned a long time ago to just ignore Warren’s attitude. If he got all bent out of shape whenever Warren acted like an inconsiderate jackass, they would be fighting a few times a week.
The onslaught of people around the girl continued and Rogue could barely get a word in before another person rushhed her. Again, Remy couldn’t believe they were so obviously shaken. Did they do this everytime some kind of authority showed up. As soon as the Red Gaurd left, he was going to have to teach the whole group about tact and finesse, if they didn’t get caught that was.
When Rogue saw Betsy, she jumped at her. Along with everyone else, he watched as the two interacted. Betsy was the only one acting the least bit normal around Rogue. Except, what was that? "Something you want to tell me?" She was wearing a ring, on the lock down finger. Gambit shook his head. It really was hopeless, wasn’t it. Oh well. Ash was the first one to say what everyone was thinking. With it all out in the air, she turned to him and said "Well Cajun... that leaves you and me. I think we should start a 'Staffer's against marraige' support group, what do ya say?"
Remy visibly stammered for a split second, and rubbed his ring finger with his thumb. His wedding ring was in a locked box under his bed, but he still nervously ran his finger over it’s place sometimes. He quickly regained composure, while silently cursing his own lack of tact. Remy’s smile returned as he said with a wink, “If you suggestin sometin’ casual, den you know Remy’s up for it.” Hopefully, she’d be riled up enough that she’d forget his little slip, or even better, miss it completely. If he was really lucky,k Betsy wouldn’t notice either. Fat chance, the emotional spike, change in demeaner, she’d have to be dead to miss it.

“Nor I, you, Anna. You are looking very well. I see that life in the military has certainly agreed with you. How have you been?” She shrugged. "Same old..." Not that Betsy would really know what the same old was now... back in the day, it had been mostly trolling for men and...huh, it really was a lot like the same old. Just in less comfortable clothes.
"Not to be rude but I have a flight class that I am going to be late for a flight class. Once again Agent Darkholme welcome to the Xavier Institute and I hope you find everything to your liking." She raised an eyebrow. Someone certainly had issues. Turning back to Betsy, she waited for an answer as Ash noticed the ring. "No way! He asked you? He finally asked you? And you said yes?!" Evidently, Ash was just as surprised as she was. Betsy had been the last person on earth that Anna ever would have thought might get married. From the moment she met the woman, she'd half expected to get married herself before Betsy did. And she couldn't touch anyone at the time. “Yes, he caught me in a moment of weakness and I actually agreed.” She tilted her head a bit toward Betsy. "He who? Do Ah know him?"
"Well Cajun... that leaves you and me. I think we should start a 'Staffer's against marraige' support group, what do ya say?" She grinned. That answered one of her questions. She glanced over at Cajun (who still didn't have a name) and caught him looking somewhat taken aback by the comments. Okay, maybe it didn't answer the question. “Don't forget Warren. That man broods too much to notice anything female in his vicinity so I think 'bachelor' for life is the perfect role for him.” She snorted. "Bachelor ain't the word Ah was thinkin' of to describe that man..."
By then, it seemed that Cajun had regained his composure as he turned to Ash and replied cooly, “If you suggestin sometin’ casual, den you know Remy’s up for it.” Okay, so he did have a name, Remy. She tried not to seem visibly affected by his statement, and turned to Betsy again as her old friend hugged her again and continued. “Do you know how much Jean and I have missed you? After you left, I had no one to help me drag her into town to scope the guys out. She was all to happy to sit here and play with Scott.” Grinning, she laughed. "Well, Ah'd suggest we do that before Ah leave, but this mystery man of yours might not like it. Besides, y'all probably got a lot goin' on, running a school like this..." She trailed off, still having a hard time with the fact that when she went in to meet with the headmaster, it would be one of her classmates, not the familiar, smiling bald man in a wheelchair. Unless, of course, Scott had lost all his hair. That might make the whole thing a little more believable for her. Funnier, but more believable. Snapping back to the conversation, she cleared her throat. "Right. So, you want to get the inspection over with?"

(sorry for this really crappy post)
“Yes, he caught me in a moment of weakness and I actually agreed,” Betsy said with a grin. It was the absolute truth, too.
Besty answered Ash with a small sigh. That answered everything. Ash smiled a small twinkle in her eye as she thought of the many things she could say to tease the woman, but mercifully stayed her tongue. Besty would have to deal with enough surprised people already, and if she tried to hide it by taking off the ring... Ash would spread the word for her. After all... Hell must have frozen over for Besty to agree, even off guard, and people needed to know.
“Don't forget Warren. That man broods too much to notice anything female in his vicinity so I think 'bachelor' for life is the perfect role for him.” Oh yes... Warren. Ash's face clouded over for a moment as she thought of him, and then quickly plastered a pleasent look on her face. She was supposed to be happy, not fighting with a team member. However much she hid it though, she was absolutly sure the telepath standing next to her could feel the sudden drop in her emotions. Well she'd have to answer to that later, probably not in front of Rogue. So much for fixing the problem before other's got involved. It was all Warren's fault too. If he hadn't just run off...
"Bachelor ain't the word Ah was thinkin' of to describe that man..." Ash's mouth twisted into a wry smile. She'd like Rogue the little that she'd known the girl at the school, but now she was really begging to enjoy her. Anna definantly had a sense of humor. Too bad she was on duty...
Gambit seemed to pop out of no where with his answer, Ash had actually forgotten he was standing there. Now that he had drawn attention to himself, she wondered what in the world had taken him so long to reply. Usually he was spouting off like a rapid fire gun. She raised an eyebrow at him in question. "You think I would start something that requires suit and tie? Gambit for shame! Even so... if your there it'll turn into something casual."
When she looked over at the other two Rogue was asking about starting the inspection. Whoops! Ash wondered if someone had locked everything up. They must have, with Besty there. Sean had probably done the war room and danger room. Scott had probably been notified and was on his way. For the second time that day, Ash wished she were a telepath.

< Stall her. Tell her we're dealing with a student right now. > Scott ordered her.
Ah, yes, let's just invite her out for tea right now. Now that wouldn't look suspicious at all, would it? Betsy thought to herself sarcastically. Betsy felt a spike in emotion and a fair amount of uncertainty from Remy when Ash mentioned that they should start a support group. She also didn't miss the fact that he was absently playing with the ring finger of his left hand. Her eyes narrowed on him slightly but she let it go for now since there was company to be dealt with. Once they were alone, though....
Then, as soon as she mentioned Warren, she got yet another jolt of emotions and almost fear from Ash. Just what was going on here? Her eyes shifting to Ash, she wondered what had happened there, especially since Warren had taken off so quickly, like he was running from something. Yet something else she'd have to ask about when she got Ash alone. And they all thought she had secrets.
Rogue brought her back to the present with, "He who? Do Ah know him?"
Betsy thought back a moment since it really had been a very long time since Anna left to join her mother. “I believe he came just before you left. Sean Cassidy, Irish, red hair, has a voice that can shatter just about anything, excellent kisser although I'm not about to let you test that theory. You'll meet him soon enough,” she replied, a teasing twinkle in her dark brown eyes.
"Bachelor ain't the word Ah was thinkin' of to describe that man..." Rogue said casually about Warren.
Betsy laughed out loud at that. How many people that have come through here thought the same thing? “Yes, his manners and people skills do need some work but you really should see him without a shirt on. Almost makes up for what he lacks in other areas,” Betsy said with a smirk.
Ash and Remy were back to teasing each other about non-relationships and non-commitments and Betsy just had to smile at them. They only had to look at her to realize that everyone could be caught at some point. She'd made Sean wait for a few years before she would even consider dating him seriously, then he had to wait half a dozen more years before she agreed to marry him. And even then, there was no actual wedding in the works.
"Well, Ah'd suggest we do that before Ah leave, but this mystery man of yours might not like it. Besides, y'all probably got a lot goin' on, running a school like this..." Rogue said when she mentioned how difficult it had been to get Jean to do anything after Rogue left.
What Betsy didn't mention was that before any of them knew it, Jean was pregnant and had baby Nathan to care for. And that brought up another issue with Nathan's “death” and the boy who had shown up today, claiming to be him. “Sean? Oh, dear god, if he isn't used to my ways by now he never would have asked for a larger commitment. I don't think he'd have a problem with us traipsing through town looking for a bit of fun. Although getting Jean to agree with it may be a bit more challenging,” she replied with a laugh.
Then Rogue suggested that they get the inspection over with and it was time for Betsy to put her procrastination skills in play. Giving Anna a smirk, Betsy said, “What did they do to you, Anna? We haven't seen each other in a decade and all you can think about is doing the boring yearly inspection?” Betsy slipped her arm through Rogue's and sighed dramatically, smiling to show her that she knew she was being silly. “Why don't we start on the grounds since the day is gorgeous and most of the students are still in class.”
Betsy directed Anna around the back yard and toward the lake, keeping everything casual. “How is your mom and brother these days? Wasn't his name Kurt?”
In the meantime, she sent messages to both Cyclops and Phoenix, <Better finish up what you are doing because she's anxious to get started. We're doing the outside sweep now but that will be all I can stall her for.>

Warren knew his rapid departure would not be recieved well by his fellow X-men or Agent Darkholme by he didnt really care. He tilted his wings back as he increased his altitude every farther from the ground then before.
Warren had always been considered to be brooding by many of his fellow mutants here at the Institute. The expierences in his life had certainly made him take a turn towards darker parts the soul. Known of them had been corrupted, twisted and changed into a being of death and destruction. No one could understand what had happened to him, none of them could have possibly known what it felt like to have your soul twisted and tormented into a pale figure of itself.
Even after all this time Warren still had never figured out exactly what had happened to him during his stay at Apoc Labs and frankly that terrified him.
As far as he was concerned that day at Apoc Labs was the day Warren Worthington III had died and the monster known as Archangel was born.

< Remind me to commend Anna on her good timing. > Jean replied wryly, but continued with a bit of relief in her mental voice. < Sean has taken Nathan down to the sub-level, and he’s there... now. > Jean knew Betsy would pick up on the fact that she’d called him by their son’s name, showing she believed it was him. Jean had been tracking him and Sean, feeling another questionable presence with them, but she didn’t have time to focus on it now. She made a note to ask about it later. < Either Scott or I will meet with you both soon, once we’re done talking with the Cuckoos. >
