( OOC: Sorry this took so long, RL has been busy and my ScottMuse has been hiding.)
Scott continued to eat steadily, just not wanting to be having this conversation here, in a public place, under a time constraint, with a possible member of the Brotherhood of Mutants around. Not that Theresa probably had any idea what she was involved in. All the half-truths they were telling Alex were eating at him. This wasn't right, keeping most of his life from his brother, especially at time like this.
“A school out of a mansion? That sounds absolutely heavenly. Tom talked about sending me ta private school a few times but he never followed through with it. I think once my abilities emerged, he was too scared ta do anything. What is yuir school like? Are there a lot of kids? How old are they? What sort of classes does it have?”
Theresa's barrage of loaded questions almost made Jean choke on her water. Scott was luckily not taking a bite at the time, and suddenly put his fork down as his wife gave her more vague half-answers. She asked Theresa if she were interested in school, being sweet and understanding as always. Scott took another drink of his water, debating with himself about whether to drop the pretense, lay all the cards on the table and see what happened. If all else failed, Jean could make Alex and Theresa forget this whole meal.
Alex answered Jean's question about his interest in geophysics, being most likely the most honest of all of them. His brother was obviously extremely intelligent, having built his own containment suit, but Scott knew with the technology they had available to them and Hank's help, a better one could be made for him, or even some else to help regulate his power absorption. Closing his eyes behind the ruby quartz lenses, he took a deep breath before speaking. Jean was probably going to be upset with him for doing this without consulting her first, but he was tired of lying to Alex, who was being nothing but completely honestly with them.
"Maybe you should come back to the school with us, Alex," he suggested. "Our friend Hank isn't a geophysicist, but he has a brilliant mind and he may be able to help you work on containing your energy absorption." Scott took a deep breath, then turned his attention to Theresa. Now for the hard part. "Theresa, I'm only guessing, based off several things you and your cousin shouted at each other last night, but you don't want to be mixed up with who I'm guessing he's mixed up with. I almost made the same mistake when I was younger. You could come with us, too. Everyone at the school is like us. You'd both be welcome there."
There, almost all pretense gone and very little giving away of secrets. < Sorry, honey, > he apologized to Jean through their link. < I couldn't take it anymore. He's my brother and she...she was probably tricked into working for the Brotherhood like Jack O'Diamonds tried to do to me. They're both going to get hurt if somebody doesn't say something. >
Scott took another drink of water and waited for the explosion of denials and questions.

Jean was the one who answered Theresa barrage of questions, ”Well, it’s a boarding school. And there’s a decent number of students, ranging from elementary to high school. There are quite a few classes. You seem really interested in school, Theresa. Are you thinking of going to school to study?”
Completely oblivious to the discomfort of either Jean or Scott, Theresa answered, “My last tutor finished my primary schooling about two years ago. Since then, I've wanted ta go ta university but then Tom disappeared and there was no way for me ta do it.”
"I was thinking of going back into college but now I'm thinking against it. Theresa is still open to go, though. I can support the both of us when I get a job,” Alex added.
Theresa was surprised. Just a little while ago, he told her he was going to go back to school as well. However, this wasn't the time or place to ask him about it, especially since he seemed to be uncomfortable again suddenly.
Theresa still hadn't touched her food and when Scott started talking, she turned her attention from Alex to his brother. "Maybe you should come back to the school with us, Alex. Our friend Hank isn't a geophysicist, but he has a brilliant mind and he may be able to help you work on containing your energy absorption," Scott suggested to Alex.
She smiled. It was a great idea as she knew that Alex worried about the extra energy that he still had to release. Besides, it was a way to keep the brothers together. She was just about to agree with Scott when he turned to look at her. "Theresa, I'm only guessing, based off several things you and your cousin shouted at each other last night, but you don't want to be mixed up with who I'm guessing he's mixed up with. I almost made the same mistake when I was younger. You could come with us, too. Everyone at the school is like us. You'd both be welcome there." Scott said blatantly.
How could he know about all of that? she thought frantically. Theresa stared at him, not entirely sure how to answer. She hadn't told Alex the real reason she was in the States and she had planned on never telling him since Tom had released her from any responsibility. But that still didn't explain how Scott knew who she had come here with.
Swallowing hard, glad that she hadn't eaten anything yet, Theresa sat back in her seat and asked, “How do ya know this?” She wanted to ask more, ask what he had against Magneto, if he really was guessing correctly. Magneto seemed like such a nice old man and he was fascinating to listen to. And honestly, she was only here to be with Tom, well, until she met Alex. Something Tom wasn't taking too well no matter how much he tried to cover up last night.

Jean listened intently as Alex explained his suit. "I used my studies to make my containment suit. I can't stop my ability to absorb energy so I have to block it out somehow. There is still energy that my body absorbs regardless of this suit.” Jean frowned slightly. It was such a relief when she gained control over her abilities with the Professor’s help. Her heart went out to Alex. It was terrible not being able to manage powers that could potentially harm you or others around you. Jean had felt a little bit of that last night in the penthouse with Charles and Magnus.
“My last tutor finished my primary schooling about two years ago. Since then, I've wanted ta go ta university but then Tom disappeared and there was no way for me ta do it.” Theresa replied, her eyes intrigued about the school as she talked.
"I was thinking of going back into college but now I'm thinking against it. Theresa is still open to go, though. I can support the both of us when I get a job,” Alex spoke up. Jean caught the ‘support both of us’ part of his sentence. Obviously Theresa meant more to Alex than just something temporary. He was thinking long-term.
"Maybe you should come back to the school with us, Alex. Our friend Hank isn't a geophysicist, but he has a brilliant mind and he may be able to help you work on containing your energy absorption,” Scott began, which caused Jean to turn her head, looking at him. Coming back to the school would mean Alex would no doubt discover what their ‘jobs’ truly entailed. And if Alex went, Theresa would surely be joining him, seeing how close the two were. Jean’s brows creased, staring at her husband as he looked over to Theresa.
"Theresa, I'm only guessing, based off several things you and your cousin shouted at each other last night, but you don't want to be mixed up with who I'm guessing he's mixed up with. I almost made the same mistake when I was younger. You could come with us, too. Everyone at the school is like us. You'd both be welcome there." Jean could only stare at her husband, not saying anything. That would mean they would more than likely find out about the X-Men, and all the information they had to keep private in order to live semi-normal lives. Not that Jean wasn’t glad to include them, but jumping headfirst into this wasn’t something she was too keen on. And it was especially out of character for Scott. Usually he spoke with her beforehand and thought things through.
< Sorry, honey, > Jean heard Scott’s voice, < I couldn't take it anymore. He's my brother and she...she was probably tricked into working for the Brotherhood like Jack O'Diamonds tried to do to me. They're both going to get hurt if somebody doesn't say something. > Maybe Theresa was tricked. Scott almost had been. For now though, Theresa was involved with the Brotherhood and they weren’t certain how deep.
“How do ya know this?” Theresa’s eyes widened in a sea of blue. This only confirmed that she was a Brotherhood associate somehow, but her reaction and demeanor so far wasn’t one of a standard Brotherhood member.
< Scott, how about we take this someplace more private? > There were a lot of people around and there was too high a risk someone might overhear. She didn't want to have to mind wipe the breakfast buffet room of hotel occupants.
Jean glanced at Theresa, then back to Scott, letting him answer him bring it up. For Alex and Theresa’s sake, she hoped he was right in saying something, but if not, she’d have some mind-wiping to do regardless, which she wasn’t too fond of doing.

"Maybe you should come back to the school with us, Alex. Our friend Hank isn't a geophysicist, but he has a brilliant mind and he may be able to help you work on containing your energy absorption," Scott said to him changing the subject entirely. The mood at the table also suddenly changed. Jean turned to stare at him blankly and Alex was also a little bit stunned. Alex didn't even have a chance to respond when his older brother turned his attention to Theresa. "Theresa, I'm only guessing, based off several things you and your cousin shouted at each other last night, but you don't want to be mixed up with who I'm guessing he's mixed up with. I almost made the same mistake when I was younger. You could come with us, too. Everyone at the school is like us. You'd both be welcome there," Scott continued to say. Alex stopped eating and paid more attention to what was going on. He didn't have a clue what he was talking about with what Theresa was involved in. How does Scott know more about Theresa than I do? Although the thought of both Theresa and himself going to visit his brother and his wife was a great thought.
“How do ya know this?” Theresa asked. Now Alex was really confused. They both knew what the other was talking about but Alex didn't. Something wasn't right with this situation. Alex was definately not understanding. It was kind of irritating. Turning to Theresa, Alex studied her facial expression. It was one he had yet to see. Alex still smiled though, she was still beautiful.
"Wait," Alex said stopping all the hidden messages inside Scott's remarks. "Am I missing something here?" Alex asked the whole table. He wasn't too sure if jean knew what these two were talking about but it was obvious that both Scott and Theresa did. Alex was completely confused as to what they were talking about.

Scott had to admit he had been hasty and taken a great risk by opening up the subjects he had, but damn it, Alex was his brother and he was really beginning to believe Theresa was in way over her head. Her response to his words only confirmed his suspicions. “How do ya know this?” she demanded, looking and sounding nervous.
Alex was just as confused, if not more so. "Wait, am I missing something here?" he asked, looking between Scott and Theresa. Obviously, Theresa hadn't told Alex about what she was doing here, at this hotel, with the Brotherhood.
< Scott, how about we take this someplace more private? > Jean pointed out, surprise clear on her face and in her voice. he knew how unlike him this was, but with the fact that if that bill was passed, all this secrecy would be moot. And besides, Charles was bringing in questionable help. He had a feeling they could trust Alex and Theresa much more than Magneto and Emma Frost.
< Good idea, > he agreed through the link. < Trust me, Jean. I know this is the right thing to do. If I don't take this chance to get to know Alex, I may never get it again. > He squeezed her hand gently, offering her a reassuring smile.
Then Scott turned his attention to little brother and the Irish girl with him. "We can't talk about it here," he admitted adjusting his sunglasses. "But if you two will come with us back to our room, I can explain everything." He sincerely hoped they would agree. he wanted to lay everything out on the table, stop doing all this cloak and dagger nonsense, and most importantly, not have to lie to his brother for his own good. "Please," he added, wishing that they could see his eyes behind his ruby-quarts lenses. He just had to hope that curiosity would be enough, if they didn't believe him.

No one wanted to answer her question, it appeared. Jean looked at Scott, who looked a bit perplexed as to why he mentioned it in the first place. Something was going on and she wanted to know what it was. If there was some danger to Tom, she would have to let her cousin know immediately. Although why she just thought of that was beyond her.
"Wait, am I missing something here?" she heard Alex ask.
Without looking at him, she winced. Although she honestly had no idea why she had been brought to Washington, she did understand Tom and what he did for a “living”. If there was no profit to be made, he wouldn't be here and neither would she. So if she really analyzed it closely, it was possible that the intentions of those she had traveled with were less then ideal.
....”I don't want ya coming with tha Brotherhood tomorrow. There's no point in doing something ya might regret if yuir leaving," Tom had told her. With the words “something ya might regret”, she should have realized that things were not as simple as she was trying to see them. It still didn't explain how Scott knew why she was here, or why she had been here.
"We can't talk about it here, but if you two will come with us back to our room, I can explain everything. Please," Scott finally said after what felt like hours to her.
Theresa knew that Alex was staring at her, looking between her and Scott and it was just about killing her. She had a sinking feeling that he wasn't going to take this well. Trying to shove back the flight or fight instinct she was once again experiencing, she didn't look at Alex but instead focused on Scott. “If Alex goes, I'll go with ya,” was all she said. She didn't want to, she didn't want to be faced with talking about the people she had come with even if she didn't know their intentions.

< Good idea, > Scott glanced over, answering through their link. < Trust me, Jean. I know this is the right thing to do. If I don't take this chance to get to know Alex, I may never get it again. >
< I always trust you, Scott. > She squeezed his hand in return, offering a small smile. She was just surprised and a little hurt he hadn’t mentioned anything earlier. That dissipated though, knowing how important this was. But hopefully things would go well and no one would need to have their memories erased.
"We can't talk about it here," Scott replied, correcting his shades. He did that when he was uncertain or having some other emotion he wasn’t used to expressing. "But if you two will come with us back to our room, I can explain everything. Please." Scott’s voice was sincere. Jean looked to both Theresa and Alex, hoping they’d agree.
"If Alex goes, I'll go with ya," Theresa replied, straight and to the point. Jean didn’t blame her. The pretty redhead didn’t know Jean or Scott, so she wasn’t sure what to expect. And what they were about to discuss with her was probably going to be a shock.
"Okay." That was all they could ask of her. It was Theresa’s decision to make. "We’d appreciate it if you both came." Jean added sincerely, her eyes now fixated on Alex. It was up to him now if he and Theresa came with them upstairs.

Alex’s confusion was deep. There was hidden meaning in what was being said and it was going over his head. Now he wondered if anything said was the truth. There was no reason to doubt anything until now. Now, there was every reason to not trust what was said at this table. Why would they lie? Alex wondered. He can’t even say that they were lying, just not saying what was important.
"We can't talk about it here, but if you two will come with us back to our room, I can explain everything," Scott said to Theresa. Alex was just not included in this conversation. "Please," Scott added in. Alex’s anger was starting to build. He was getting no answers and it doesn’t seem like he was getting any answers anytime soon. It may have been written all over his face, Alex was never good at hiding his anger.
“If Alex goes, I'll go with ya,” Theresa said standing by Alex’s decision. He had no idea where to stand. This all just didn’t make any sense. Why was everyone being so secretive?
"Okay. We’d appreciate it if you both came," Jean added in. There really was no other choice if Alex wanted to know what was going on. Theresa almost sounded nervous again but he thought she would understand the need for Alex to know what was going.
“Fine. I want to hear what this is about,” Alex said. His anger of the situation couldn’t be held out of his voice. He wasn’t happy that he was the only person at the table that was completely clueless of the situation. The sooner they leave, the better. Theresa still hadn’t touched her food, so Alex could wait until everyone eas done eating before getting to the bottom of this.

Luckily, Theresa agreed to his request and Alex, although obviously angry about all the cloak and dagger secrecy, agreed as well. Scott didn't blame him for being upset. He preferred things on the level, which was why he was doing this. Alex was his brother and he didn't want to keep secrets from him.
At least Jean still had faith in him. < I always trust you, Scott. > Her words, her belief in him made Alex's anger and Theresa's fear easier to bear. He stood up offering his wife his hand. It wasn't like any of them were probably still hungry.
"Come on," he bade everyone quietly. Their meal would be billed to Xavier, so that was not anything that needed to be worried about. He could just focus on how to explain everything without making Alex think he'd been lying to him and let Theresa know how much trouble she could be getting herself into.

((Continued from Emma's Room))
As she walked through the hotel to the elevator and down to the lobby, she mentally contacted Forge. <Kerian, I'm on my way to the lobby to meet with Xavier and probably Lensherr as well. If you need to see me, I have a few minutes before we leave. Otherwise, contact me via whatever means you have provided me with or mentally. I'll keep a channel open for you.>
That taken care of, Emma walked into the lobby and noticed it was just as busy as it had been the day before when she arrived. There were people standing around, some watching a couple of televisions that had been tuned into the news. Even the televisions in the bar were on the news stations and the bar wasn't even open for service.
Ignoring the crush of people, Emma mentally commanded a couple to move from a couch near the door so she could sit down. Taking out her computer, she started it up and began to pull up the files she had been studying. There wasn't any new information that she hadn't poured over for the last few weeks but the possibility was there that something had been missed.

Professor X via Telepathy
< Perhaps we should move this meeting to my penthouse. Mr. Lehnsherr would be more comfortable not in public view, > Charles told Ms. Frost. Charles thought she would be understanding. The three of them were working together on this hearing so there was no reason they should make it more difficult on each other.
