Tom felt relieved that she stayed. A reluctant smile crept across his face. "Sit down, Lass." He said. "I guess by now ya've figured out that I'm called Black Tom. Ya know I'm a professional criminal. It doesna matter. What ya have ta understand is that I didna want ta leave back in Ireland alone."
Tom sat down on the bed. He rubbed up and down his forehead as he continued. "I got inta some trouble and had ta leave tha country. I wanted ta take ya with me but I didna know how ta explain myself."

Theresa didn't sit down, she continued standing where she was as she listened to him. In all honesty, he hadn't really left her alone. “I think Mrs. Beasel lasted a month after ya left,” she said quietly as she started pacing back and forth. “She informed me that you were paying her to tutor me, not t'raise a hellion. I don't think she appreciated the vase that I threw at her.... After that, no one wanted t'come stay with me. I think that's what made me so furious today. Not that you are involved in questionable activities but that ya made a choice to leave me alone.”
She stopped pacing and walked over, sitting down next to him. Not touching him, she looked up and asked, “Is it wrong of me to not want ya to leave again? Now that I know yuir alive and well, I don't want ya t'leave me. I don't care what ya do or what I do. We can sell the Keep and live off yuir yacht. Whatever ya want.”
Terry stopped before her voice got whiny. She was an adult now, capable of making her own decisions and if he wanted her to stay out of his affairs and go back to Ireland, she would. But not without a fight.

Tom couldn't help but laugh when Theresa mentioned throwing a vase at Mrs. Beasel. The woman was in her sixties. She was probably scared out of her mind. But that wasn't the point. "Theresa, I'm here on vacation. A vaction I chose to take so I could see you again. You can stay with me as long as you want."

As usual, she probably over did it but that didn't matter at the moment. He was letting her stay for now and she didn't have to return to the empty Keep just yet. “In that case, yuir stuck with me till ya kick me out,” she replied with a grin. “Now, what is there t'do on this island? After bein in Ireland for so long, I want t'explore!”
Jumping up, she felt more alive then she had in ages and staying inside the yacht wasn't her idea of fun. There was a beautiful ocean out there and the weather was nice and hot. She was sure she could find sandy beaches if she just looked for them. Too bad she never thought to bring a swimming suit.

Tom smiled, deciding that the worst was over. There would be more unpleasant conversations but they could wait. "I don't know. I got in just before ya did." He hadn't gone any farther than the Brotherhood's base, since his exploration was sidetracked by Exodus. "I suppose we can go for a walk an see where we end up."

With a smile, Theresa walked over to the counter where she had put her water a while ago and picked it up, taking a long drink. Screwing the top back on, she walked to the stairs that would lead her up to the patio then turned back to him. “Uncle Tom, next time yuir in trouble, will ya just tell me? Don't make me wait two years again,” she said to him in a serious tone. She was still curious about where he had been in all that time but knew she could corner him later with questions. Right now, she just wanted to enjoy being with the only person who had ever loved her.

Definatey he said to himself, although he didn't answer. Tom simply followed her upstairs. Something still bothered him though. It was that man, more so the place where thet left him. It wasn't a home, he knew that much. He had heard rumors of a militant mutant group living here but dismissed them quickly. The island seemed peaceful. That's why he chose it. "Theresa, Did you think anything was weird about that place where we dropped off the telepath?"

Theresa rolled her eyes when he avoided her question. Typical of the man. She would definitely have to get some things out of him later. As they stepped off the yacht and onto the dock, he asked, "Theresa, Did you think anything was weird about that place where we dropped off the telepath?"
They made their way off the dock and she looked over at Tom and replied, “Ya mean weirder then tha man himself?” She shuddered briefly as she thought about the stranger poking around inside her head. Nodding, she continued, “It was more like a fort for some secret agency, not a place to hang yuir hat at night. Why?”

Tom made his way off the boat boat with Theresa. "I just have a feeling about it, and in my business, you learn to trust your instincts." Tom couldn't believe what he just said. He spent her entire life hiding his "business" from her and now he was flaunting it. Still, the feeling nagged at him. His peaceful little vacation spot had a secret, and he wouldn't be able to sleep until he knew they were he knew what is was, especially if it could put Himself and Theresa in danger. "Maybe we should go back there."

Theresa was stunned. He wanted her to go with him to check out something that may concern his “business”? She had been thinking of white sandy beeches and playing in the surf but they were going to be there a while, she could go playing later. A new level of excitement began to build in her and she replied with a smile, “If ya think it's something that needs to be checked out, then let's do it.” Besides, her own curiosity was peaked now and although she probably wouldn't have done it on her own, as long as Tom was going, she would go.

She hesitated, something he would have to remedy if she were to participate in this aspect of his life. She would have to become more savy. Tom was beginning to like the thought of her in the "business." She could be very useful and it would give them more time together. "Then Let's go" he said as they walked to the building from the night before.

Tom walked into the yacht with Theresa following closely. Walking straight to his drawers, he pulled out a black uniform with a red bat like symbol on the front, the same symbol that was on the coat he was wearing. "Theresa, I want ya to stay close since you haven't really trained for this sort of thing." He said sternly. "I'll be there to protect ya but if ye're in trouble, don't hesitate to scream."
Tom pulled his coat off and laid it on the bed. He then took his uniform to the cramped bathroom and struggled to put it on in the tiny space. Emerging changed, he picked his coat up and threw it back on.
"You'll need some kind of uniform." Tom said pulling a satelite linked cell phone from the pocket. He dialed the number and began to speak into the phone. "I need a female suit made short notice, I'll pay extra. Tomarrow morning. Jane Smith. Jone Smith then. Hold on." Tom then held the phone to out to Theresa and spoke again. "Tell this man yer measurements and what colors ya want."

Theresa was silent all the way back to the yacht, thinking about what they were doing. Was this just a trip to make sure the government didn't pass some law? Or was this going to be more violent then that? Whatever happened, she was going to make him proud. That was her main goal anyway.
She walked into the yacht behind him and watched him rummage through a drawer and take out something she had never seen before. It was obviously a uniform and most likely his “business” attire.
Sitting down on the edge of the bed, he looked over at her and said, "Theresa, I want ya to stay close since you haven't really trained for this sort of thing. I'll be there to protect ya but if ye're in trouble, don't hesitate to scream."
Looking up at him with her blue eyes shining in sincerity, Theresa replied, “I won't let ya down, Uncle Tom. I promise t'make ya proud of me.”
Then he left to change his clothes. He reappeared a few minutes later, wearing the uniform. She could see why he wore it. He looked rather intimidating and if he were anyone else, she may have even been a bit frightened. But this was Tom, her Tom. He would never do anything to hurt her on purpose.
"Tell this man yer measurements and what colors ya want,” he told her, interrupting her thoughts.
“My... my measurements? All right,” she said as she took the phone from him. Speaking into the phone, she rattled off her measurements then thought for a second about colors. Remembering the brightness of her bedroom back at Cassidy Keep, Theresa said, “I would like it in green and yellow, please.” She hoped that no one would object but they were just so nice together.
Handing the phone back to Tom, she stood up and put her suitcase on the bed, pulling out some warmer clothes. Walking into the bathroom, she changed into a pair of jeans and a short, green t-shirt. Brushing through her hair, she left it loose and unbraided for a change. Walking back to the suitcase, she took out a sweater for later then closed the case back up and waited for Tom to tell her what to do next. At least she didn't have to pack.

Tom took the phone and put it back in his pocket. Honestly, he'd never been prouder of Theresa than he was now. She was jumping in head first and so far had taken it all in stride. If he had known she would be willing to participate in this kind of business, he would have taken her on some of his trips. He smiled as she emerged from the bathroom changed. "Make sure ya bring a coat." he reminded her. "Also, you'll be needen an alias. Would you like to choose or should I?"

Theresa wished she could tell what he was thinking. He smiled but she wasn't sure if he was merely tolerating her being there or if he was actually happy she was with him. Nodding at the suggestion of a coat, all she had was her cloak that she had worn from Ireland so she walked to the couch it was laying on and picked it up. There was no way she could put it on in this heat. It was bad enough to be in jeans.
His question of an alias surprised her but she supposed it shouldn't have. She had been introduced to people with names like Sabretooth, Magneto and Exodus in the past few hours, why should she have to stick with Theresa. She thought about it and replied, “I really don't know. The towns people always called me a banshee after they found out my secret.” She wasn't sure she wanted a name like that but with her scream, what else could she be?
